Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

Podolski to Suarez tonight before the rise or wait for tomorrow? Won't be able to afford it once he rises, but I have 2 FTs so I can downgrade Baines to GJ, for example. Please advise.

Suarez plays MCI tomorrow, flies to Qatar to play Spain on Wednesday, then flies back to the UK. But history says he is a quick recoverer and never gets injured

@Milanista FWIW I'm looking at Kun to Suarez (c) for DGW then back again GW27. I;m not sure Saints away is an easy fixture anymore and Suarez in 2 games could easily outscore Kun in 1. I've thought about parting with Fellaini or Michu post DGW ti allow me GJ, but i think I'll stick with Enrique and look to get Evans in GW28.

I'm thinking of saving the FT, then doing Michu->Sissoko, Johnson->Evans leaving me with one player on my bench for the blank and 3.2m in the bank for the following week. If i spent the transfer this week on another Liverpool player, it would take a hit -4pts to field 11 players for the blank. Sound decent enough?

I could ditch Aguero (sot) to get him, and then take a hit to field a shitty 11. Seems a lot of effort for someone who will probably be playing in Russia between the two dixtures and if he does play, will not be 100%

@ Pepin. Saw your post earlier. I woke up this morning and changed the (c) from Victor to Robin.

    * No courage to my conviction. I'm so ashamed. The one time when alcohol was a good FPL decision maker 🙄

I'm probably going to do Aguero > Suarez tonight, it feels so wrong transferring out someone I haven't seen play this weekend...and I love Aguero...but if I don't do it I will be priced out of Agger/GJ who are the most nailed on Liverpool defenders...I'm in two minds but I might have to do it.

    Thoughts/Suggestions?

Prob worth waiting...Don't think you can afford to not have Suarez next week, but always the chance he could get injured tmw. And depending on LIV line up, tmw, Enrique/Skrtel might be options defensively.

take the risk if you have limited cash.

Suarez plays MCI tomorrow, flies to Qatar to play Spain on Wednesday, then flies back to the UK. But history says he is a quick recoverer and never gets injured

    Hey all.

    Current team is:

    Bego Bunn

    Davies Demel Clyne Zabaleta Harte

    Fellaini Michu Mata Bale Walcott

    RvP Aguero Pogrebnyak

0,0m in bank, 2 free transfers and I will lose value on selling everyone in this team (meaning I won't be able to buy them back at the same price, except from Bunn, Demel, Bale and Aguero.

Early thinking was switching Aguero and Bale out for Suarez and Gerrard.

    Nonsense or nobrainer?

    Thanks

Potentially looking at 4 point hit to get this team for GW 26:

    De Gea
Glen Johnson / Azpilicueta / Baines
Santi Cazorla / Walcott / Michu / Fellaini / Mata
    Suarez(C) / Sturridge

    Subs: Pog/Mariappa/Demel

Doesnt mess me up for GW27 either, use my free transfer and then I have XI out with good fixtures

This plan involves RVP out but I think it's worth the risk. Not fickle enough to get rid because he hasn't scored in 2 games (jeez he's poor) but I cant see him scoring as much as other options at least in the short term. Predicting a potential rest against Everton due to CL , definite rest against Norwich due to the CL 2nd leg and 2 away games in the form of QPR of Wham. I think he's proven enough times he's fixture proof and this could bite me on the ass but RVP out allows me my ideal DGW team yet also not messing my team up for the gameweek directly after and beyond.

Thx mate you too I see! Yeah I'm perhaps thinking too much about the DGW (but the past two with Chelsea and Arsenal demonstrated how crazy your points can go if you pick the right players) but without getting rid of RVP I don't end up with a team that will hopefully smash the DGW but also leave me with a pretty strong GW27 on paper.

        What are your plans ?

Depending on how tmw goes, it will be either Baines & Fellaini > Enrique & Gerrard or Baines & Fletcher > GJ & Sturridge. Leaning towards A. Fancy Gerrad at home and makes it easier to field XI in GW 27.

Am hesitant to lose RVP due to value as well...if Real knock Man U out (which is not that unlikely), RVP is a must and will be difficult to bring him back. WHo would you replace Sturrdige with after DGW if you go with current plan?

Yeah I fancy Gerrard so I'd go with that. Yeah this is something I'm worried about if I do end up getting rid. I was actually considering keeping Sturridge and doing Suarez to Aguero or even Rooney. Not looked into that in so much detail yet though
