Another Wayne Rooney goal, another Robin Van Persie blank – United’s hard-fought victory at the Cottage added further fuel to the fire for Fantasy managers. Here’s the Stock Check on Saturday’s evening kick-off…

On the Up

Wayne Rooney
Despite being moved to the left midway through the second-half, the former Everton man secured the points with a calm finish. Having grabbed a double last time out against Southampton, Rooney is staking a real case for consideration either as an alternative or partner for Robin Van Persie in our forward lines and looks a real differential with Fantasy Premier League (FPL) ownership under 7%. His consistency of late has been staggering – tonight’s goal made it eight in the last six league starts.

Jonny Evans
His return to the starting lineup made an immediate difference at the Cottage. United had registered clean sheets in each of Evans’ previous two appearances – given they had conceded in the last three without him, his calming influence at the back looks to be a major factor. With the assist for Rooney’s goal, Evans looks set to earn FPL bonus points to cap another assured display.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman has now registered back-to-back blanks – coinciding with Rooney’s return to the starting XI. The Dutchman had produced in each of his previous ten and while there’s no doubting his consistency over the season, many are now contemplating a switch as mini-leagues start to heat up with the quest for differentials becoming a key factor. With a favourable run of fixtures ahead, Van Persie’s owners will be confident of a return to form but Rooney’s kinder 11.8 FPL price tag liberates budget to be utilised elsewhere.

Antonio Valencia
Handed a start on the right in a 4-4-2, the former Wigan man disappointed yet again and was hauled off on 65 minutes. It’s a single assist in 11 appearances now for Valencia and with Danny Welbeck and Shinji Kagawa pushing for game time, he could well return to the periphery once more. Fantasy managers have been deprived of an assured midfield asset in the United squad all season: there is little sign of that situation changing.

Brede Hangeland
Owned by more than 6% of the Fantasy Premier League player base, Hangeland has been a major disappointment so far this season: yet again he’s without a goal and, with just three clean sheets, his return have failed to live up to a pre-season billing which hailed him as a potential bargain. Tonight the Norwegian suffered his latest setback, withdrawn at half-time with a knock, rumoured to be an Achilles problem, which may now make him a doubt for Fulham’s next outing at Norwich.

OK, Zep & Trigger stop messing with my head about RvP. I am glad I took Suarez already so I don't even have the option to lose RvP 😀

It's certainly a huge risk, but I think it might just be the correct decision...

If I keep RVP, I can't have 2 Pool players without selling Baines/Fellaini or taking a hit...

By selling RVP, I can avoid taking a hit, have 2 Pool players (GJ Suarez), and also retain Baines, Fellaini and Pod for potentially lucrative fixtures in GW27...

It will just be gravy if RVP has a cameo v Everton... 😉

But I agree about your point about Suarez, I am keeping him for the rest of the season now.

Thats true, but for example I don't see Rooney being rested in the next 3 fixtures...with less than 7% ownership and most players rightfully but stubbornly holding onto RVP, he is a major differential for me.

              (c) Rooney last week got me 97(-4) and a GW rank of 64. Its impossible to do that with (c) RVP.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not excited about Villa in any way, it's just Benteke is getting big points in a poor side and has a monopoly on chances like Ba did at Newcastle earlier on. For 6.5 that's pretty great.

Ok so this is my DGW plan, involving NO HITS, and allows me to have 4 DGW players( Suarez, GJ, Michu, Davies)

    Here goes nothing:

    GW26 RVP+Gibbs > Suarez+GJ (free)
    GW27 GJ > Baines (free)

**Ditching RVP allows me to hold onto the p5 in mid, especially Fellaini (who i was originally ditching)**

    Bring back RVP GW28/29

Plus, RVP will most likely not feature GW28 vs NOR(H), Madrid 2nd leg 3 days later..

Thoughts?? Its a calculated risk, mind you.

This makes a lot of sense if you can afford it. I have 2 FT & will not be bringing in any DGW players 😯

I already have Davies, Michu & Suarez & I don't really fancy anybody else. Plus the lost in value would break up my squad.

I've got my eye on a toon double from next week. Dave + Sissokho/Cabeye/Barfa. The Dave + Barfa duo served me brilliantly last season, so i'm really tempted to put them back together if barfa is back (could be back for GW27). He is defenitely the most explosive option. But Sissokho is 1.4m cheaper, playing off the striker, and is an absolute beast! Could have had a hat trick.

NB I ask again. How come non of the top 6 were interested in him? 😉

I'm not so sue about that.. I think it's highly likely that Suarez has the potential for BPs, whereas it seems Sturridge's game doesn't favour them...

Suarez also far better assist potential...

IMO... Suarez will get about 20-22pts from the 2 games... Sturridge will get about 10-12pts...

But the goals will ultimately decide the BP's and I expect sturridge to at least match Suarez goal contribution for the rest of the season.
Suarez is playing a deeper and wider position since Sturridge arrived.
I reckon around 15pts each, Sturridge to score 2 goals min

And lets not forget Stevie G, the real dark horse for this GW

All season RvP has started off the bench twice. At home to Wigan in GW 4 and at home to WBA in GW 20. In the latter, he come off the bench to score a goal. He has played 90 minutes in 20 out of the other 22 fixtures.

We are now in the 'business end' of the season and SAF knows that he can't drop points. He will get rested for the Norwich game at home, but he will play every other fixture.

    That's my view, anyway.

We also at the buisnress end of the champions league , and this is Real Madrid we are talking about

He would hate losing to Ronaldo/Morhnio/madrid , more than he would be worried about Everton.

He is the one saying how great Hernandez is playing , he will also have seen how well Rooney os playing , plus Nani and Kagawa back , perfect opportunity to rest Van Persie. It only three days before the Madrid game

Even though Everton conceded 3 goals at home to Villa, Baines still delivered. I can't believe Mirallas was taking all the corners while he was on the pitch. From both sides. Baines' delivery for Fellaini's second goal was superb. Look at the arch, pace, and placement. I hope this convinces Moyes that Baines should go back to taking corners.

I am now tempted to lose Baines for GJ and then perhaps switch to Evra thereafter, but Reading & Norwich could be prosperous fixtures...

It's hard to fathom why anyone would consider investing in such a poor defensive outfit as Eve unless you appreciate that there is conclusive proof that one of those weak puppies is one of the most profitable attacking defenders in the prem.

This is diffircult when playing the week by week FF game (FPL) but easy mainstay in overall structures like Sky FF.

Unbelievable the worst.Prem team this season (imo) scored 3 against Eve. I lost money on that and I am bitter.

Having attacking right and left backs can actually alleviate attacking options for the opposition rather than leaving holes which is what I think your point is.

But you have to have a team that tightens up the piano strings to do it. Eve dont most of the time but it is not just Baines going on walkabout.

Which one will you sacrifice for SISSOKO?
    A. Mata (rotation risk)
    B. Walcott (no reason)
    C. Bale (has hard goal competition with dempsey, holtby, defoe and adebayor)
    D. Michu (low performance but his position as lone striker is tempting)
    E. Fellaini (has potential to play deeper, but now back in form)

a, not much of a rotation risk, may get subbed at times though
b, is a must have imo, especially if you got him at 9.0 or less
c, season keeper imo and best spurs cover
d, michu is on trial at the moment, he is who I would consider selling, but I will give him the dgw to re prove himself
e, fellaini is a season keeper imo and best everton attacking cover

Michu > Sissoko is the best transfer if Michu continues in weak form

And now Gouffrann is looking quality, and Jonas not so bad, i'm afraid that the marv boat might have sailed. Not too much of an issue though, as he is your 5th mid. He will still start some games, and get plenty of time from the bench. More than enough to outscore guthrie 😉

    Rooney 3, RvP 2, Evans 2 (close)

is it close just between those three? or are there others threatening Van Persies bonus

loved his clearance off the line at the end , might of swung it

Mata seemed to have a pretty mediocre day today and still managed to score a brilliant goal. Want him in my team asap

I would consider Hazard when he comes back, I may double up on Chelsea and have Mata and Hazard.

Have Lamp currently. Not sure if Mata price has peaked though. I also thought that Hazard's price would drop to lower than 9.3 and look a little bit more enticing? My thoughts are that Hazard will try to rectify his mishap and will go into beast mode like he did to start the season

No probably not 7 goals in 9 matches is way too consistent. Suppose he wants to end his Chelsea career well, and so he will probably stay in my team.

Wow he is still 9.3. I thought he could dip between 9.1 and 8.9. Hmm.

Yea I thought that too. Obviously people didn't get the memo and started to transfer him out at a frantic pace. nearly 20% still own him. My theory is that since he was such an early season weapon, people who aren't playing that much now, transfered him into their teams like mad.

So many options are out there...Lamp has been doing just as well recently so for 1.7 cheaper, I decided to go with him instead. That's a lot of money to spend elsewhere
