Is your mini-league crown looking out of reach? Not to worry, there’s still plenty to play for, not least our second free cup competition of the season. If you missed our article earlier in the week, you should know that the qualifying round was played out this weekend but, if you’re a member, you can still enter your team and score before tomorrow morning at 9am.

Read on for details on the Members Paddy Power cup but, if you’re a veteran of such tournaments, you can go straight here to make your entry. Members will need to log in first.

What is the Paddy Power Members Cup?
The Paddy Power Members Cup is our version of the Fantasy Premier League’s Fantasy Cup game available to our members. Entrants who qualify for the first round will be randomly drawn against each other and the winner of the tie is whoever has the highest score from that Gameweek, minus points spent on transfers (like in the original game and in head-to-head scores). In the event of a tie, the Manager highest in the overall FPL standings will progress.

Do I have to be a Member to take part?
Yes. This annual tournament is provided as part of our offering to members. Obviously it’s not too late to register as a member or upgrade your account. Details on how this is done is available right here.

How do I enter?
Simply fill out the entry form here. You will be sent a confirmation email to verify your entry. You can also check that you are entered via this list.

What do I do if I run into a problem with my entry?
Please contact support@fantasyfootballscout.co.uk and we will look into any issues with your entry. Please note, we can only do this prior to the Qualifying Round. If you make an error when submitting your team id on the entry form, you may be withdrawn from the tournament so please take care when completing the form.

When does it start?
The qualifying round takes place in Gameweek 25 but you can enter after the Gameweek is played out. All entries received before 9am on Monday February 4 will be entered into the qualifying round. In this first cup competition we will have 512 qualifiers for the first round: the 512 with the top scores in Gameweek 25 will progress to the first round proper to be played in Gameweek 26. Again, FPL rank will decide who progresses in the event of tied positions.

When will I find out if I’ve qualified?

Results from the qualifying round will be published on Wednesday February 6.

What is the Gameweek Schedule
Each round of the Members Paddy Power Cup will be played out over the following schedule:

  • Qualifying – Gameweek 25
  • Round 1 – 512 teams – Gameweek 26
  • Round 2 – 256 teams – Gameweek 27
  • Round 3 – 128 teams – Gameweek 28
  • Round 4 – 64 teams – Gameweek 29
  • Round 5 – 32 teams – Gameweek 30
  • Round 6 – 16 teams – Gameweek 31
  • Quarter-Finals – 8 teams – Gameweek 32
  • Semi-Finals – 4 teams – Gameweek 33
  • The Final – 2 teams – Gameweek 34

When are the fixtures released?
The fixture list for each round will be published a day or two before each Gameweek deadline – the draw for the First Round will be expected on Thursday February 7.

Are there prizes?

Sponsors Paddy Power are supplying the competition with some great prizes and we’re supplementing these with Amazon Vouchers. The prizes break down as follows:

  • Winner – £100 worth of free bets. £100 Amazon Voucher
  • Runner-up – £50 worth of free bets. £50 Amazon Voucher
  • 3rd Place – £50 worth of free bets. £25 Amazon Voucher

In addition, the Quarter-Finalists from this tournament will gain entry to the Fantasy Football Scout Shield where they will play the eight Quarter-Finalists from this season’s earlier Paddy Power Cup. The shield tournament will start in Gameweek 35.

Cup Entrants will need a Paddy Power account and be aged 18 and over to be eligible for some of the above prizes. Prizes are also subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. You can, of course, enter without being over 18 and without a Paddy Power account but will not be eligible for the free bet prizes.

If you’ve yet to register a Paddy Power account, then you can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register and bet £10.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Not quite undertanding the Bale-Gerrard move...

Bale is at home against Newcastle and had a cracking game today. Gerrard could score sure but he's coming off the back of the Brazil match so could yet be injured.

Better to wait and see if he plays the full 90 or maybe bring in an attacking defender - Johnson or Enrique. Two clean sheets gets you 12 points there whereas Gerrard would only bring in 6. Bale scored 11 today...

It's like when the first snowflake falls and everyone panic-buys at supermarkets. Why rush!?

Alright chaps (thanks to Herr Vets for response but need more opinions)

2 FT, but only 0.3 in bank. I am 0.1 short of doing Fletcher > Sturridge. Shit happens I guess so these are the options:

    A) Aguero > Suarez & Fletcher > Sturridge
    B) Aguero > Suarez & Bale > Gerrard
    C) Aguero > Suarez & Zabaleta > G Johnson

I have a wildcard which I plan to use after GW 30 or so.

I think Sturridge will outscore Fletcher in that period. But not convinced Gerrard will outscore Bale or G Johnson will outscore Zabaleta.

    Therefore am edging towards A

    thoughts? Cheers

OK, here it goes. I have already used 1 FT this week to bring in Suarez for Podolski. Now I have 2 options for my other FT.

    Option A: Baines to GJ.

Pros: Liverpool defensive coverage, get to keep Bale for NEW & whu, don't have to pull the trigger tonight so can wait for news
Cons: Won't be able to get Baines back for nor & RDG, only have Suarez as attacking 'Pool cover for the DGW

    Option B: Bale to Gerrard

Pros: Gerrard on great form, more attacking 'Pool coverage, get to keep Baines for nor & RDG
Cons: I lose Bale, no 'Pool defensive coverage, have to pull the trigger tonight for price rises, may not be able to afford to get Bale back in

    So, A or B?

      I think A.

GJ and Bale > Baines and Gerrard for me.

Liverpool have a very good home defensive record lately, and GJ can easily pick up attacking points. I know that Baines has been scoring well lately, but he can be frustrating to own.

      Close one though.

Oh god that's tough, and the thing is... the way last night went you would think Gerrard is the best move... Bale has scored well in the last 2, but for some reason doesn't score many at home... only returned v QPR LIV WHM at home... but by doing that there is the risk that you miss out on 11pts if he does score...

GJ, on the other hand, will benefit from having 2 home games, and 2 very likely CS... 7 out of the last 9 home games have resulted in CS... but last night probably put you off that... well it shouldn't cos they are totally different games...

In the end, Pep, I have the exact same problem and have decided to get both... I will get GJ and Suarez... then Gerrard for what will be 8pt in hits total... and my reason? I just can't not have him in my team with the form he's in...

Sorry that I can't give you a definitive answer...

      A. is currently what Im genuinely looking to do well either Johnson or Enrique. I see Bale as a strong player for the gameweek and beyond thou id live Gerrard in id have to lose him. Johnson/Enrique would strengthen me greatly leaving a double ft in 27.

I've seen a lot of people going -4 or even -8 for the DGW, to either get a defender or Gerrard/Suarez/Sturridge, and their teams for GW27 look very weak. A lot of teams looking at 8-9 players pre-transfers and that's including players Demel, Guthrie, Pogrebnyak. When you factor in potential injuries etc. it could be a disaster. I don't like it...but it could pay off I guess.

I have 4 DGW players. That's the absolute maximum anyone should have really.

Agree. Still smarting from an overenthusiastic commitment to last year's DGW with a drunken 16pter. Killed me. In for 4 this week, so no hits to field 11 next week.

I should be able to field 11 in gwk with a 4 point hit in 27. If it turns into a complete disaster then i'll reluctantly wildcard

'Tis what the DGW madness does to one's ability to think 😀 I am in a pretty decent spot, but still can't decide whether I prefer Gerrard or 'Pool defender.

The one advantage of wildcarding in the last week was that I could bring in all the DGWers I wanted without a hit. I wouldn't want to be taking a hit for the DGW and then a hit after it to field 11.

You're right Jack, it certainly looks to be the biggest gamble of the season.
To gamble that the DGWers will score heavily enough to cover hits out for GW27 or play short then.

Or just go with safety and no hits or a -4 and hope for a low scoring week.

1 of them will pay off, just have to find which one.

Why would you get players in just to take a hit. I was talking about this before, it makes no sense. It's not really a double gameweek. The only tools we have in GW27 is our FT and our bench

Two 1-1 draws with goals coming from Downing, Lucas, Derry and Hernandez are going to completely screw up people's hits and transfer plans... :-p

Going mad by taking -4 hit to use 5 players in DGW:

    Begovic
    Johnson-Zabaleta-Davies
    Walcott-Michu-Fellaini-Mata
    Sturridge-Suarez-RvP

    sub: federici/wilshere/demel/rafael

Ok so does Enrique worth a 4pt hit over Zabaleta?

If I get him it means that I will be playing Enrique 'for the long term' instead of Zabaleta. I won't transfer him out the week after.

    Here's the comparison
Enrique : WBA SWA wig TOT sot + Guthrie vs Wigan in GW 27 (2pt most prob)
Zaba : sot CHE avl WIG eve + 4pt

We make the scout picks in a valid formation, and then a sub in each position. It isn't meant to reflect a real FPL team.

    Go for sturridge or Gerrard?

    For Sturridge:

    Rvp ➡ Sturridge

next game week -4 to remove him

    or

    Lambert ➡ Sturridge

    To get Gerrard :

    Bale/Walcott ➡ Gerrard

    then -4
