City grind out a victory, with Carlos Tevez providing the vital strike and the City back four keeping a struggling Villa at bay for another clean sheet. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday’s events…

On the Up

Carlos Tevez
Drafted into the side with Sergio Aguero missing out with a training ground injury, Tevez took his opportunity once again, adding to his goal last time out against Chelsea with tonight’s winner. Despite such form, Tevez could still find himself back on the bench when City are next in league action at Everton in Gameweek 30 with Roberto Mancini perhaps destined to continue with the 4-5-1 formation.

The City Defence
A second consecutive clean sheet made it six shutouts in the last eight league outings – clearly Mancini’s side are having little trouble defending of late, with creativity and goalscoring their main issue. Pablo Zabaleta remains the mainstay and key Fantasy target in the Citizen’s rearguard – the Argentine has started the last 16 league matches, earning two goals and two assists to accompany nine clean sheets in that spell. Matija Nastasic has also returned to fray to keep consecutive clean sheets, providing a cheaper route into a City defence which has now kept 13 shutouts in total.

Going Down

Sergio Aguero
The Argentine was set to go into tonight’s game without a goal in his last two but with his owners expecting a turn of fortunes, given the opposition. A training ground injury, confirmed by City and the player himself as a knee problem, scuppered his night, however. It’s not clear just how serious the setback is, although local press claims on Twitter state that he will also miss the FA Cup tie with Barnsley. With a two week break, however, Aguero will perhaps be expected to be in the frame for a return when City resume at Everton in Gameweek 30. That’s unlikely to prevent heavy sales given the forthcoming blank this weekend.

David Silva
It’s now five league matches without a goal for the Spanish playmaker, having scored in just one game out of the last 16 starts. That kind of record has seen Silva plummet in the midfield pecking order as the likes of Theo Walcott, Gareth Bale and Juan Mata have enjoyed consistent periods of scoring. While his 11 assists are impressive, it’s difficult to think of Silva as a heavy-hitter with a price drop beckoning next season.

Charles N’Zogbia
Having fetched return in four of his last four matches, N’Zogbia was ineffective this evening and was eventually hauled off on the hour-mark. His start at Reading next weekend could now be in question.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Samba is a huge threat at set pieces and their CS potential is decent.

I don't think I will be taking a hit this week, and even if I do, it will be 4 points at most. it will be a low scoring week and there aren't that many good options. I'd rather be better positioned for the rest of the season, including DGW's, etc.

I might just do my transfers tonight.

I know, Newcastle have a midweek game, but what are the chances of a Sissoko injury, really?

If I wait until Friday, it'll probably cost an extra 0.4 or so due to price changes, and it all adds up, especially if I ever want RVP back for a DGW.

I guess the big debate is the benefit of 4 point hits to get a full team out.

Even for a one week put it may be worth it.

Example Aguero , next week he become RVP
However One week punt to Benteke or whatever

might be -2 or potentially free points if get more than 4 the added advantage being not sitting on aguero while his price drops

Im thinking the upside greater than the downside , if benteke or whoever scores a hattrick at least you r on it, and it more fun having a full team playing

    what you all think?

        Scenario is

        score 0
        OR
spend 4 to have a well owned striker who will play 90

upside if he scores big you on him
        helps prevent team value falling

I think the 3/4 times i've played him I've probably got like 3 points.

Had Davies at 4.1m and sold him on my WC for Demel. One of my worst decisions of my season.

    Hey guys,
I'm playing FPL from S America
    I'm new writing here
I want to propose a little game:"best to have until the end of the season", counting a little bit price/value

    IMO
    Mids rank:
    1. Bale
    2. Michu
    3. Walcott
    4. Fella
    5. Siss
    6. Mata
    7. Gerrard
    8. Caz

3rd striker (no RVP or Suarez)
    1. Lambert
    2. Lukaku
    3. Berba
    4. Benteke
    5. Remy

Just that for now, I'm not counting blanks in GW 29 or DGWs
    What dou yo think?

Midfielders: Michu is too high for me. Hazard and Lampard warrant consideration, also.

Strikers: Sturridge/Ba/Tevez also options in the "luxury but risky category." I would probably put Lukaku at 1 and then swap Benteke and Lambert. But I'm biased where Lukaku is concerned.

In that case, why are people so much keener on Samba? Is he THAT much of a goal threat?

    Option A.

This week: Zabaleta & Fellaini -> Samba (or any 5.6 defender) & Sissoko (4 point hit)

    Gwk 30: Cisse -> RVP

    Option B.

    This week: Mata -> Sissoko & Pog -> Benteke/Remy/Lambert/Lukaku (4 point hit)

    Gwk 30: Cisse -> RVP

      B.

Mata's underlying stats have been poor recently and he looks tired. I don't know why but he seems to need more rest than other players. I'd keep Zabaleta and Fellaini - form over fixtures, if you ask me.
Of course, that's only my opinion and it may well be hopelessly wrong.

Right, Walcott & Pobrenyak for Sess and Remy

Put Walcott back in for the Reading match, most have Mata in my league and I'm 1st so I cant take a risk and take him out and see him do well vs West Ham

    Yes or No?

We don't know any more than it say in the article and on twitter.......which is basically that he might miss tyhe FA cup with Barnsley, but make the next game in the Prem.

Really not worth holding on to IMO. I own him too and he could have been a massive differential. Turned out to be a massive failure

That is where it gets hairy - If he had a game this gameweek, id be tempted to find out when and his chances of making it - although earlier today I was cursing and swearing he would not enter my team again. All year have built funds and brought him in early as a big hitter differential and he has done nothing but let me down. (c) this week was massive failure.
