A goal in each of the last couple of Gameweeks has brought Andros Townsend onto Fantasy radars over the international break. Since arriving on loan at Loftus Road, the winger seems to have firmly established himself as a key member of Harry Redknapp’s first-team – starting five of the last six matches, he has also chipped in with a pair of assists and received six bonus points in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, averaging 6.6 points per game. In this latest article for members, we take a look at the underlying Opta statistics to see how he’s been performing and examine whether he really is a viable target for the fifth midfield slot in our squads.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

My suggestion is no. Jelavic showing specs of last season's form with that late goal vs City. Nowhere near a certain starter.

My logic is you want a 3rd striker that plays 90 mins consistently. Anichebe won't get that. I'm looking at Berbatov personally.

Speaking of 90 minutes, would you consider Jermaine Jenas then? (Can't get Townsend due to financial constraints, Jenas is a touch lower at 4.2). His stats were actually better than Townsend's (in fact it was as good as Remy's). We can discuss this quicker on TFPL if you want, I'm there already

I'd wait until nearer the time. Obviously less than £5m for a player whose team has a DGW with two home games is very tempting, but if you bring in Fabianski/Jenkinson and they lose their spot, you're back to square one and will have to take a hit.

I'm waiting until GW33 to make a decision on Szczesney. I may do a double swap, including Juusi/Schwarzer/DDG and Jenkinson/Sagna. Hopefully I won't have to.

Think you're ok (for this week). The very worst thing that could happen to you is that Walcott doesn't play, mata is rested and both your defenders come on, which isn't the worst thing in the world. I'd save. You don't have THAT much more downside while the upsides are still quite huge 🙂 Good luck

Saving transfers at this stage of the season can be gold, especially if you haver no pressing transfers to be made!

What about Marv? Will he play? if not, Marv > a Fulham mid or even Osman might not be a bad punt considering you have Wally, Mata and Rooney as doubts to play.

I'm not sure they will, Snake Juice, not with the league already sewn up and a cup semi final against Chelsea just two days later.

Giggsy and Welbeck for the Sunderland game looks more realistic to me. Anyone's guess though.

Should do. Inconsistent FPL performer though.

Think Rooney and RVP owners are just going to have to like it or lump it when the team is announced on Saturday.

Would be nice if we knew before 11:30 so we could make necessary adjustments.

      It's anyone's guess.

Fergie says he'll play his freshest players on Saturday but I doubt that will be his main team selection. In reality, he'll just pick his team for Chelsea on Monday, then play whoever isn't in it.

This is the problem with Utd attackers. They've all played over the International break.

Welbeck and Hernandez have played the least I think. Its feasible that those 2 start the Sunderland game and Rooney and RVP play in the cup.

But, in all honesty, its pointless trying to second guess what Sir Alex is going to do.

I just have a feeling that I will have an in-form-again RVP inactive for the early Saturday kick off!

I hope so, I need RVP to play on Saturday. RVP likes early kick offs.

Hernandez will definitely play against Chelsea. SAF always starts him due to his amazing record against them and he has had a long flight.

It'll be between Welbeck, RVP & Rooney for Sunderland.

As it's pointed out above, it's always difficult trying to predict what Fergie will do but my guess is RVP & Welbeck.

RVP because we could do with him continuing this return to form and Welbeck because SAF always seems to pick players against their old team (albeit a stint on loan).

Don't be silly. 1-1 draw was a fair reflection on the match. As Jimski said there is still the return leg at Wembley to come and both sides play Poland again.

The Wembley game against Montenegro will pretty much decide the group I think.

Remember, other than San Marino, Faroe Islands and Luxembourg there are few easy games in Europe.

Crazy logic. Spain drew at home to Finland - guess they don't deserve to go to the WC either. European football is a tight, close affair in general. Percentage-wise, England tend to be good enough to qualify on most occasions. That's all that is required.

Slightly off topic. Playing a draft game where the aim is to create an XI using players that made their debut in 2000 onwards, and you can only pick 1 player per club from the big 4 leagues. I'm last with Busquets/Schweini. Running out of good strikers though. The next best one i can think of is Aguero. Any advances on that?

Lionel Messi | Javier Mascherano | Dani Alves
Cristiano Ronaldo | Kevin-Prince Boateng | Alex Song
    Wayne Rooney | Arjen Robben
    Andres Iniesta | Luka Modric
    Kaka | Luis Suarez
    Cesc Fabregas | Franck Ribery
    Gerard Pique | Edinson Cavani
Robin van Persie | Daniele De Rossi
    David Villa | Carlos Tevez
    Wesley Sneijder | Fernando Torres
    Nemanja Vidic | David Silva
    Mesut Ozil | Sami Khedira

      Not right now.

But if Spurs get a blank on 33, consider it.

I know. It's all of the players in our team who don't have 'pure blood'.

Luckily you don't have that 'problem'.

Black Caps manage to rescue a draw from the ugly jaws of victory against the mighty Poms.

All Whites beat New Caledonia and Solomon Islands to qualify for the World Cup play off against 4th ranked CONCAF team.

All in all, a goodish week. 🙂

Oh, ok. Good. Because Berbatov(c) is the real deal. I remember Stilicho or Jonty doing a post on players after international breaks and how those that are rested perform the best.
