A stunning Sergio Aguero effort silences Old Trafford, puts the brakes on United’s title charge and hands City the three points. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday night’s pulsating Gameweek climax.

On the Up

Sergio Aguero
Not fit enough for the starting XI according to his manager, Ageuro’s introduction nonetheless proved devastating as his sublime finish capped a powerful run across the United defence to seal the City win. The Argentine has suffered a stuttering season but, having failed to start a game since Gameweek 27, he could yet be a factor in our Fantasy season’s as a potential differential if City can use tonight’s result as a springboard for an end of season flourish.

Matija Nastasic
Restored to the starting lineup at the expense of Joleon Lescott after missing the win over Newcastle through injury, the young Serb looks to back installed as the first choice partner for skipper Vincent Kompany. At just 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League, Nastasic presents a cheap route into a City defence that offers the potential of strong returns over the remaining fixtures, with a double Gameweek also in the offing.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman’s run without a goal continues. While Van Persie earned praise from his manager post-match and provided the whipped cross for the Vincent Kompany own goal, his contribution went unrewarded and handed him another blank. Van Persie has now scored just one league goal in his last eight league appearances and, with Rooney also failing to impress on his return to fitness, United’s forward line looked jaded ahead of their double Gameweek. Those two fixtures will doubtless stem the tide of Van Persie sales but, if he fails to convert against Stoke and West Ham, we can surely expect his ownership to decline markedly for the final fixtures – particularly if United claim the title early.

Nemanja Vidic
Having started the last five in the league, the commanding Serb was absent tonight as he failed to shake off a knock which meant that Sir Alex Ferguson started with Phil Jones alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence. Clearly, along with Jonny Evans and perhaps even Rio Ferdinand, it’s very doubtful whether Vidic will start both of United’s double Gameweek fixtures. Patrice Evra and David De Gea still look the most assured defensive options on show.

David Silva
Forced off with a hamstring problem at the death, it’s being reported that City have commented post-match that the Spaniard looks a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea on Sunday which will also cause concern for Fantasy managers ahead of his Gameweek 33 fixture against Wigan the following Wednesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Forty one ahead of my nearest rival. This mini league is all I care about. He has one double gameweek player right now (Monreal) and two free transfers so, without hits, a maximum of three. For a twelve point hit I could have De Gea, Distin, Sagna, Evra, Fellaini, Cazorla and Rooney.

Worth it? Like I say, I only care about winning this mini league. Overall rank is not much of a concern to me.

I'm also considering a 12 point hit as I am well in control of my mini league but also I don't want my overall to take too much of a whack....sigh

    Re: Hits

I'm sure we would all love to have 8/9 DGW players without having to take a hit, but unfortunately for some of us - including me - that isn't possible.

If you are going to make sensible transfers, and bring in players who are injured/out of favour/generally rubbish for a good quality DGW player who should score a lot more than the player he replaces, then any hit can be justified.

I'm going -12, but I'll be surprised if it doesn't pay off. I should have had more DGW players in by now, but they kept getting injured and dropped 😉

Take each hit on it's own merit, and if it is highly likely to work out in your favour, it should be done.

I'm doing a 12 point hit for 9 DGW, maybe crazy but I agree with your reasoning....
      Davies>Baines
      Ivan>Monreal
Mata>Gervinho (not sure about this one, but anyway)
      Suarez>RVP with the armband

Assume it is just -4 on top of another -4. Point is, Davies to Sagna makes sense for -4 because Davies is a 1 at best, while Sagna is a 4 at least and a 12 at best (most likely is 8). Do it.

Dearest Maloney my player of the week. His goal cancelled a rivals Samba CS real swing of points.

I hear u on that thou im desperate for some dgw Baines. Initial plan as lose Mata and Harte more than likely. Now its news dependent on Silva all im likely to get is a load of nonsense anyway.

I see. You need to cash in a Silva/Mata level player to get both Baines and Fellaini. I have Baines, and I'm not sure I would spend a hit to get him. I love looking at him in my team and thinking what he might do, but he seldom delivers as much as I hope. I would hesitate to lose a GW36 player to get Baines for a hit. But I see the attraction. 🙂

I am set on the moves in out is the only question. Walcott stays ive lost so much value am not touching him. Silva was future planning now hes bucked so him ir Mata.

In fairness Mata really delivered for me Silvas been such a disappointment the times ive owned him maybe me and him parting ways is for the best.

    Here's a really interesting theory...

On 20th January 2013, RVPersona Non Grata and Fernando Useless were both in London playing for their respective clubs. The Dutchman continued his Messi-esque scoring streak at White Hart Lane by netting in his tenth game out of his previous eleven whilst the Spaniard carried on doing what he does best - absolutely feck all before getting substituted.

While back down south that evening, Robin takes the opportunity to visit a couple of old haunts and bumps into Fernando drowning his sorrows in Chinawhite's. Feeling a touch of empathy towards a fellow striker in distress, Robin decides to cheer him up and rear-ends him in one of the shiny toilet cubicles.

Unfortunately, Fernando failed to tell Robin that he has a chronic dose of Profligacy Disease and passes on this infliction. Thirteen club games and one goal later, Robin is well and truly damned.

Should have kept it in your trousers my son!

He was immense tonight, but don't read to much into what Fergie says. He said Evans was first choice, only to promptly relegate him to the bench. He's been singing Kagawa's praises for weeks without actually picking him. He also said United were unlucky to lose tonight and played well.

Sometimes Fergie talks crap. Pay no regard
