A stunning Sergio Aguero effort silences Old Trafford, puts the brakes on United’s title charge and hands City the three points. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday night’s pulsating Gameweek climax.

On the Up

Sergio Aguero
Not fit enough for the starting XI according to his manager, Ageuro’s introduction nonetheless proved devastating as his sublime finish capped a powerful run across the United defence to seal the City win. The Argentine has suffered a stuttering season but, having failed to start a game since Gameweek 27, he could yet be a factor in our Fantasy season’s as a potential differential if City can use tonight’s result as a springboard for an end of season flourish.

Matija Nastasic
Restored to the starting lineup at the expense of Joleon Lescott after missing the win over Newcastle through injury, the young Serb looks to back installed as the first choice partner for skipper Vincent Kompany. At just 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League, Nastasic presents a cheap route into a City defence that offers the potential of strong returns over the remaining fixtures, with a double Gameweek also in the offing.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman’s run without a goal continues. While Van Persie earned praise from his manager post-match and provided the whipped cross for the Vincent Kompany own goal, his contribution went unrewarded and handed him another blank. Van Persie has now scored just one league goal in his last eight league appearances and, with Rooney also failing to impress on his return to fitness, United’s forward line looked jaded ahead of their double Gameweek. Those two fixtures will doubtless stem the tide of Van Persie sales but, if he fails to convert against Stoke and West Ham, we can surely expect his ownership to decline markedly for the final fixtures – particularly if United claim the title early.

Nemanja Vidic
Having started the last five in the league, the commanding Serb was absent tonight as he failed to shake off a knock which meant that Sir Alex Ferguson started with Phil Jones alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence. Clearly, along with Jonny Evans and perhaps even Rio Ferdinand, it’s very doubtful whether Vidic will start both of United’s double Gameweek fixtures. Patrice Evra and David De Gea still look the most assured defensive options on show.

David Silva
Forced off with a hamstring problem at the death, it’s being reported that City have commented post-match that the Spaniard looks a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea on Sunday which will also cause concern for Fantasy managers ahead of his Gameweek 33 fixture against Wigan the following Wednesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Which move looks better for an 8 point hit?

    A. Davies, Mata & Sissoko -> Baines, Fellaini, Gervinho (Would have to do tonight)

    B. Sissoko, Mata & Remy -> Fellaini, Walcott & Berba. (This is only possible if Walcott falls before any of the other rise.)

Not sure what to make of it.

Arsenal have 3 games in 7 days, logic says he won't be rushed back in to the side as wenger says walcott has an outside chance.

Hopefully wenger provides more details in the presser like "walcott is 100% fit", I hope he doesn't say something like "he is available for selection",

I guess if he is in the squad you have to bring him in right? Not many better dgw options around and you would think he will play some mins?

To cover the risk of him exploding, possibly yes.

I'll analyse later in the week when I know more. I might just captain Cazorla & have Monreal in defence and leave it at that..

    Quick question:
    A. Baines/Kagawa (played 1 min tonight, pretty nailed on for 60-ish mins in DGW imo) or
    B. Evra/Fellaini

    Rest of team:
    DDG
    Sagna-Demel-???
    Cazorla-Silva-Gerrard-???
    RvP-Lambert-Cisse

Alright, lads, my current wildcard team:

    DDG* Robles^
    Baines* Sagna* Demel* Dawson^ Turner
    Walcott* Cazorla* Fellaini* Michu^ Maloney^
    RVP* Berbatov* Suarez

    * = DGW33
    ^ = DGW36

0.5 in the bank (could get Silva in for Walcott depending on both their fitness). Plan is to bring in Vertonghen, Bale, Aguero / Tevez and Silva before GW36.

You want to keep Benteke, he has consistently scored. I have Berb, and hope he scores a lot, but there is every chance Benteke does more in the GW. I don't think you should get rid of players you want to have to bring in DGWers. Especially not for a hit (and Mariappa is just a waste of space).

Benteke isn't actually far greater than Berbatov after the DGW for me, because I'm likely to WC in GW 35 or 36, depending on when the City vs West Brom and Chelsea vs Spurs DGW's are. If one is in GW35, then I could get Benteke in then to play Sunderland at home.

Why're you so certain? Heitinga isn't nailed on? He's only played so much recently because Jagielka was injured, and then in the last game (with Jagielka back) they shifted Coleman to the wing in order to cover the missing Pienaar and Fellaini (but now they're both back).

If I was asked 3 weeks ago who was the best arsenal attacking pick for dgw I would have laughed when if you said Gervinho.

He is being transferred in the same rate as cazorla right now.

Madness. He could return a massive score or be Gervinho v Norwich and do nothing then not play v Everton. What to do.

Ye thats a real issue now. Guess we have to monitor the possible returns of WIlshere and Wally, and hold the transfers, actually thinking of Arteta as the best addition to Caz atm, providing he might get some a penalty over the two game weeks, which also is kinda madness thinking.

Lets hope we get a update from Bould/Wenger in time!

I think we just have to go for the nailed on-ness for a DGW and probably 1-2 more gameweeks where you may not want to waste a transfer getting rid of him. But maybe I am just too much of a coward.

Being on my WC, I would rather go double arsenal defense(good value with Fab and Sagna) rather than Arteta. Or maybe even have a bit of Wilshere if he is confirmed 100% fit. More likely that I will have Giroud and Caz instead.

It's strange, he is probably nailed on to start both and on pens but I guess he just is not a flair pick.

I guess he is an option if he just fits into your price range, but I think he is just depending on pens. Not enough flair is true as well. Very unlikely to explode sitting so deep. I would rather take a stupid punt on Giroud as I mentioned already.

What do you think about this for a WC team?

    DeGea Robles
    Baines Rafael Sagna Zabaleta Dawson
    Cazorla Fellaini Pienaar Silva Maloney
    RVP Giroud Berbatov

    Feedback appreciated, thanks.

If you dropped Silva to Michu and Dawson to Demel/Alcaraz can you afford Rooney over Giroud?

Right lads, I'm off, my head is still fecked, it'll probably take me a week to get over this, there is nothing worse than living in Manchester and being on the losing side on Derby day. Will get my thoughts up tomorrow, when I am calmer so I know it's not just emotion

I think people are focusing to much on just getting DGW players. Looking at the fixtures i can see Man City, Liverpool and Newcastle scoring big next week potentially. All only have 1 fixture.

Agree. Both Zaba & Enrique got good chances of getting a CS. And Suarez ans Sissoko could/should also get points imo

Agreed. Other than Baines, may as well get city defenders in. And selling Suarez is crack induced madness. Or knee jerk induced

trying to decide between de gea and fabianski for my wildcard team. arsenal have the 2 home fixtures but i think everton will score for sure so only one clean sheet can be counted on. united play both away but against 2 teams that have a hard time scoring. looking at the clean sheet against stats so far this season:

    norwich: 11 (5 home, 6 away)
    everton: 4 (1 home, 3 away)
    stoke: 14 (5 home, 9 away)
    west ham: 9 (1 home, 8 away)

but looking at those stats it looks really hard to get a clean sheet against hammers at home, only city have done it and that was a 0-0 tie earlier in the season.

so i can see united getting the clean sheet only against stoke and arsenal only against norwich. probably more saves in the everton match and being at home helps so i think fabs is the best pick, and he's 1.4 million cheaper.

i've also got sagna and rafael as defenders at the moment so it would be a potential double up on arsenal.

I'd go ddg cos arsenal players are more nailed on and cost effective in other positions. I wouldn't Man U mid for example.

your right, there are no united mids i want. i was really hoping kagawa would start tonight and look good so maybe its better to double up on united defense and look to walcott if fit or gervinho if not as a second attacking gunner as i have caz already.

Sagna is pretty reliable to start both. Rafa is not certain. DDG is nailed on to start both, Fab is a (very small) doubt. I would do DDG.

i have had rafa much of the season and he's really pissed me off mostly. i was kind of hoping he wouldn't start tonight so i could just finally dump him but now i'm not so sure. i think your right though that he might not get both games.
