A stunning Sergio Aguero effort silences Old Trafford, puts the brakes on United’s title charge and hands City the three points. Here’s the Stock Check from Monday night’s pulsating Gameweek climax.

On the Up

Sergio Aguero
Not fit enough for the starting XI according to his manager, Ageuro’s introduction nonetheless proved devastating as his sublime finish capped a powerful run across the United defence to seal the City win. The Argentine has suffered a stuttering season but, having failed to start a game since Gameweek 27, he could yet be a factor in our Fantasy season’s as a potential differential if City can use tonight’s result as a springboard for an end of season flourish.

Matija Nastasic
Restored to the starting lineup at the expense of Joleon Lescott after missing the win over Newcastle through injury, the young Serb looks to back installed as the first choice partner for skipper Vincent Kompany. At just 5.3 in the Fantasy Premier League, Nastasic presents a cheap route into a City defence that offers the potential of strong returns over the remaining fixtures, with a double Gameweek also in the offing.

Going Down

Robin Van Persie
The Dutchman’s run without a goal continues. While Van Persie earned praise from his manager post-match and provided the whipped cross for the Vincent Kompany own goal, his contribution went unrewarded and handed him another blank. Van Persie has now scored just one league goal in his last eight league appearances and, with Rooney also failing to impress on his return to fitness, United’s forward line looked jaded ahead of their double Gameweek. Those two fixtures will doubtless stem the tide of Van Persie sales but, if he fails to convert against Stoke and West Ham, we can surely expect his ownership to decline markedly for the final fixtures – particularly if United claim the title early.

Nemanja Vidic
Having started the last five in the league, the commanding Serb was absent tonight as he failed to shake off a knock which meant that Sir Alex Ferguson started with Phil Jones alongside Rio Ferdinand in central defence. Clearly, along with Jonny Evans and perhaps even Rio Ferdinand, it’s very doubtful whether Vidic will start both of United’s double Gameweek fixtures. Patrice Evra and David De Gea still look the most assured defensive options on show.

David Silva
Forced off with a hamstring problem at the death, it’s being reported that City have commented post-match that the Spaniard looks a doubt for the FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea on Sunday which will also cause concern for Fantasy managers ahead of his Gameweek 33 fixture against Wigan the following Wednesday.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

it is tight but everyone has the same team for the most part. to average around 15 points a game better until end of season i'd have to look into some crazy differentials, but i'm happy where i'm at now so probably just play it safe.

You are somewhat right, though if you look at teams near you there are scores that vary from 20 - 60 points, so there is still quite a bit of variation, especially when you factor in captain choices.

So who is doing their transfers early and who is doing their transfers last minute?

I'm inclined to be patient and wait because I'm not sure of my plans yet

I see Ben Davies is dropping, I may still keep him and just bench...

I'd rather sell Pearce if I'm honest. Any reason to do some transfers early? I don't want to regret my decisions you see while my mind is yet to be made up.

wise decisions, not saying Swansea would NOT concede at home to Soton. but if you still have Pearce then he's going first..

    A) Berbatov (avl & CHE) and Mariappa (LIV)
    B) Benteke (FUL) & Distin (QPR & ars)
    C) Berbatov (avl & CHE) and Heitinga (QPR & ars) (-4 points)

Davies is dropping tonight and then I won’t be able to afford Distin!

      I've already got Demel.

      DDG Federici
      Sagna Davies Mariappa Turner Demel
      Fellaini Mata Walcott Cazorla Michu
      Benteke RVP Lambert

Has to be Davies out for Distin (only way I can afford Distin)
Can't afford Berbatov in for Benteke on top of that

Any of these transfers would cost a hit.

Ok I'm going to break it down to make it easier for myself to be rational about the situation as I'm a bit confused right now.

    Pearce = useless

    Therefore

    Replacements: Baines, Sagna, Rafael, Demel

    Baines

    pros: Being Baines
cons: Expensive, limits flexibility, already have an Everton defender

    Sagna
pros: two home games, cheap and good value, increases flexibility
cons: not a whole lot to get excited about, why not get Fabianski in for Bunn instead?

    Rafael
    pros: attacking threat, strong defence
cons: maybe not nailed on for both games, expensive enough

    Demel
    pros: Demel, Demel form
cons: West Ham are terrible, not expecting any CS so not worth a hit?

    GKs

    Fabianski:

pros: easy way of getting rid of Bunn, two home games, good value
cons: may not be nailed on all season, Sagna more nailed on? get both?

    De Gea
    pros: CS potential massive
cons: lingering doubts whether he'll play all games (with Bunn as my 2nd keeper), expensive at 5.8m for a GK

Thoughts? thank you ever so much

I know this may sound crazy, but howabout Zabaleta - I think none of the dgwers will keep any cleansheets other than man united, but risk as to any of them playing both games or longer term history. Zaba will be going up after this gameweek, and home to wigan is big cs potential and a season keeper.

Is it wrong to see a DGW as not so much an opportunity to score loads of points but an opportunity to fix your team?

While I understand it's appealing to gamble on some high potential players (Baines springs to mind)

Do I want to have double Everton defence (I have Distin) for longer than a week? Do I want to have that much invested in Everton defence beyond these two games?

I'm looking at it and thinking not so much who do I really want but what is wise for the long run...

So Pearce and Puncheon and arguably Bunn are completely useless to me.

'Why not swap them for the options you think are most appealing long term to suit your team's balance?' says I

So with this in mind, is the logical move...

    Bunn > Fabianski
    Pearce > Sagna
    Puncheon > Fellaini

    ?

    Thank you again

I'm taking the defeatist attitude to this DGW. Which is to say, I am never going to maximise my points unless I got extremely lucky. Only those with their WC and the perfect captain are going to achieve this.

Therefore, fix and repair. DGW33 is not the end

In truth, I think it's both. I am doing what Mark talked about and taking hits to get rid of crap and bring in DGWers. They are all positive moves, but also all geared at making max points of the DGW.

You're right, it's a perfect opportunity to clear out the deadwood innit?

I feel almost cleansed every time I swap out Bunn/Punch/Pearce on the transfers page

I suddenly love my team regardless of how I do in the DGW...

not really - you will still be left with fabianski begovic which doesnt feel very secure. The problem with gks is that you generally dont want to waste trannies on them. If you were to swap goalies, I would do fabianski for begovic, bringing in robles in a couple weeks for bunn.Should open up value for you later. Sagna is a safe move i guess and you get the dgw, but other than norwich, dont see them keeping any cleanies for a few gws. Puncheon =>, Fellaini also seems reasonable if you want to keep for season.Im worried of how he will slot back in. If thinking fix team, you must think that in 2 gws after this double, you need funds for tottenham, and with them and city having a double coming up, and chelsea, I wouldnt go crazy for this dgw. Still think your best move is to bring in zabaletta.

Hmmm I just don't think I will do that though...

I'm looking at it as only 2 points gained with a hit whereas Sagna is potentially 8 points gained if he kept 2 CS (as unlikely as it would be)

I agree it sets you up well for future weeks though...hmmm interesting. thanks mate

if he keeps two clean sheets, it is 12 - 4 point hit - points other defender would have scored. So with 2 cleanies, you will likely pick up 6 points. with 1 cleanie you will likely pick up 2 points. For me, I would rather risk that Man City get a cleanie v wigan, so it is break even - only 2 points less than if arsenal keep 1 cleanie - and now, its 1 position filled with a good rest of season keeper that should bring home the points. But completely understand your logic as well. Good luck.

Ok choose please if you'd be so kind...

    a)

    Bunn > Fab
    Pearce > Sagna
    Puncheon > Fellaini

    b)
    Bunn > DDG
    Pearce > Sagna
    Punch > Fellaini

    c)
    Begovic > DDG
    Pearce > Sagna
    Punch > Walcott

Thanks (last time I will pester you)

Really struggling with Baines vs. Evra vs. Rafael, in for Davies.

I have no other Ev or MU GK or Def.

Leaning towards Evra... any thoughts? Long term both MU and Ev have good fixtures. MU better for the DGW though.

as was pointed previously when I faced the same dilemma, Baines is on set pieces, is more attacking and will definitely play both games...

OK thanks-- I think Evra should play 60+ in both and get 1 maybe 2 CS. Will Baines other opportunities make up for this?

why-- I think QPR and ARsenal are both likely to score. Do you think Baines is that likely for attacking returns?

The one nice thing about baines is you know he will play 90 every game

It's a close one but I'm gonna go with Baines - the guaranteed starts and set pices just edges it for me.
