Arsene Wenger has confirmed Theo Walcott and Jack Wilshere “are back” for Arsenal’s home clash with Norwich, though Tomas Rosicky remains a doubt with a hamstring problem.

Ashley Young has been ruled out for the next two weeks for United. Jonny Evans is back in training ahead of the double Gameweek against Stoke and West Ham, while Sir Alex Ferguson is hopeful Nemanja Vidic will start training today. Chris Smalling “has started running” after missing out against City on Monday and Paul Scholes is set to return to training on Monday after a recent knee injury.

Roberto Mancini remains uncertain over David Silva’s fitness ahead of Sunday’s FA Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea. With a home league showdown with Wigan the following Wednesday, Silva looks a real prospect, given he has registered double figures in three of his last four at the Etihad but his manager admitted earlier today:

“We will decide on Sunday morning on David. We don’t know if it’s possible for him to play or whether it might be a risk if he does. He has a chance, but I don’t think he can recover fully. He may be able to play some part, but we will make a final decision as late as possible.”

Davide Santon has been ruled out of the next couple of league games by Alan Pardew after failing to recover from the hamstring injury that forced him off against Fulham last weekend. The Magpies boss has also indicated Hatem Ben Arfa will feature from the bench in Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby, though still has question marks over Mathieu Debuchy, Steven Taylor and Cheick Tiote.

Demba Ba and Ryan Bertrand have returned to light training this morning ahead of Chelsea’s cup semi-final with City on Sunday. Given Rafa Benitez’s penchant for rotation, a start for Ba at the weekend would likely mean Fernando Torres will square up to Fulham in the midweek Craven Cottage league encounter.

Finally, for bib theorists out there, the pictures from Arsenal’s training session do little to clarify Arsene Wenger’s thinking ahead of the double Gameweek. Theo Walcott featured for both sides this morning, though given that Mikel Arteta and Santi Cazorla were also on opposing teams, we’re likely to take this with a bigger pinch of salt than usual.

As always, this has all been collected for you in our team news section, where you’ll find our current predicted lineups for the weekend matches.

Rate My Team has been updated to reflect the very latest with the Projections due their update in a short while.

I am tempted to give it one last fling with RVP.

Surely he's got to score again, right?

Santi for me, I think, although I have Rooney rather than RVP.

Berbs is too much of a gamble for my liking with his second game against Chelsea. Having said that Berbs is at home and Chelsea haven't been great at the back of late.

Sorry, that was no help at all. 😀

What are people doing with Mert? Is he worth starting or should I take a hit to bring in Sagna? My other two defenders on the bench are Harte and Martin?

Thanks and good luck for the DGW!

      Same problem here.

Taking him out will inevitably end up in 12 pt hit but I would probably keep Sagna or Demel after the DGW so in a way taking Merts out would pay off in the long run.

I'd likely take Merts out after the DGW and get a cheaper replacement anyway, so I'm kind of tempted to take a 12 and do Mert to Sagna.

        Hi Nomar.

It would be a 12 pointer for me to. There are also no guarantees Merte will comes straight back in if Arsenal keep a cleanie against Norwich.

Mert will return, but Sagna nailed on anyway and frees up cash to spend elsewhere.

£4.7m for an Arsenal starting def is damn good value.

The more I think about it the more I think walcott will start v Norwich.

Yesterday suggestion was he would be on bench v norwich and come on for last 20 mins then start v everton.

Thinking he may now start v norwich and probably again v everton, Wenger will want his strongest side.

What do you think and why have things suddenly changed?

Need to decide between walcott and giroud or get both with cazorla too?

      Replied in last post.

What really changed, today was just confirmation that there have been no setbacks. Yesterday he said that Theo will train today and today he did and did not get injured.

1 day of training under his back is it really enouhg in your opinion?

I don't know if 1 day of training is enough, he looked fairly comfortable. I just have a feeling now he is training he will start, just got this funny feeling.

I am quite convinced that he wont, but that is due to me thinking the following:

Wenger wants Wilshere in the middle up front, that means Caz on the wing, and either Gervinho or Walcott on the other. I cant see him dropping Gervinho right away. Especyally with Walcott only training for a day. I could be wrong though and Wilshere could play deep.

Cause Wilshere has trained for a while and will play.

Evans / Enrique / Zabaleta (Wilson / Pearce)

    ddg*
    baines* riether* clark (davies harte)
    wally* caz* fellaini* maloney*
    rvp* giroud* berbs*

Problem: if clark doesnt play, i end up with only 10 starters...so
A: take the gamble and hope clark plays
B: take another hit to do harte >> obrien or clark >> evans (-4)..will end up with -8 for the gw
C: dont take the initial hit for sissoko >> fellaini and rather take the hit for the defender
