The Premier League have this evening confirmed a new date for Man City’s home clash with West Brom, which was originally scheduled for Gameweek 29. The fixture will now take place on Tuesday May 7, handing both clubs a double Gameweek 36 – Roberto Mancini’s side also travel to Swansea on Saturday May 4, while the Baggies entertain Wigan at the Hawthorns on the same day:

Under normal circumstances, today’s news would be ideal from a Fantasy perspective but for one small factor – the FA Cup Final. Mancini’s men go head-to-head with Wigan at Wembley on Saturday May 11, just four days after their league game with Steve Clarke’s side and with City desperate to end a disappointing season with some silverware, there’s a real fear that rest and rotation come into play and significantly hinder their double Gameweek options. While the attraction of David Silva and Sergio Aguero in midfield and up top is obvious, it may well transpire that Joe Hart is the only nailed-on asset, with Mancini confirming his intent to field Costel Pantilimon in goal for cup matches.

With City’s league game against Reading – previously scheduled for the day of the final – moved to Tuesday May 14, it leaves them with four fixtures in all competitions across 10 days. Given Mancini’s penchant for rotation, we can surely expect the Italian to utilise the depth of his squad as he keeps his key players fresh for the final. At the back, the likes of fit-again Micah Richards and Maicon, in addition to Aleksandar Kolarov, Kolo Toure and Joleon Lescott, all afford Mancini plenty alternatives, while Samir Nasri and Edin Dzeko will surely see further opportunity to impress, with even Scott Sinclair maybe coming in from the cold for a rare start.

Today’s news now means we have four teams to consider for the double, with Swansea and Wigan also handed a pair of fixtures apiece. With Fantasy managers still awaiting news of a rescheduled date for Chelsea’s home game with Tottenham, the bigger picture is yet to clear – though many will be prepared to gamble on Mancini’s main men, our optimism will be understandably tempered; in all likelihood, there’d be no surprise to see changes aplenty in his line-up as a result of the upcoming schedule.

    Morning DZers,

A little help please for GW36.

    A. No hits
    B. Rooney -> Aguero
    C. Rooney -> Kone

    Robles
    Dawson - Nasti - Vert
    Bale - Michu - Maloney - Walcott
    Suarez - Berba - Rooney

    DDG - Fellaini - Sagna - Demel

Is it worth getting Michu in this week? Think I'm between these 2 options...

    a) Santi -> Michu
    b) Save the transfer

    De Gea (AVL)
Baines (sun), Martin (REA), Demel (WIG)
Walcott (ful), Santi (ful), Fellaini (sun), Pienaar (sun)
RVP (AVL), Suarez (CHE), Berbatov (ARS)

Robles (whu), Maloney (whu), Sagna (ful), Dawson (MCY)

Exactly my though process. My original order was below, although Michu may slip above Silva given the possible rotation in GW36 for MCY...

          Bale
          Aguero
          Silva
          Michu
          Vert
          Zabs

            Aguero
            Mata
            Michu
            Silva

            but bale is definitely first.

In the end I decided to take the extra hit for Clichy, it was insurance in the event that Evans didn't play leaving me with only 2 playing defenders...

            8 reds in a row... I can't say I'm enjoying this...

    Robles (DDG)
    Clichy, Dawson, Baines (Rafael, Sagna)
    Bale, Maloney, Michu, Walcott (Fellaini)
    Aguero, Berba

    Last spot goes to Kone/Tevez/Silva/Yaya/Mata/Hazard/Lampard.

I see you went for Nasty, I changed him for Clichy at last minute - and somehow regretting it actually.

If I remember correctly Rafael has good fixtures gw37 and 38 so I'm also thinking it might be good to keep him. Next two games will tell us more if need to get rid of him.
Walcott and Berba are definetely playable for that week.

It's Fellaini => some mid or Mirallas for Kone for me too.

I only have Robles, Dawson & Maloney as GW36 DGWers so far, so I'm thinking I need at least 5 more (so 2 hits over the next 3 weeks).

not sure if he'll play both but i doubt any city defenders will play both so you might as well go for the one with the most potential

vert is definitely worth his price given his attacking potential. if you have baines right now it's an easy downgrade

Walker isn't particularly 'rated' so I don't particularly see whats wrong with his statement.

To expect Vertonghen's returns to stay as they have been (or even close) would be a false expectation.

It's nice to see a bit of chat about planning for the next DGW!

On that note, I thought I'd share my thoughts on planning.

tl;dr: Wally, Caz, Gerrard, Suarez are better than City and Chelsea players

At the moment I'm finding it hard to see the added value of a City and Chelsea DGW. Players from both teams have a potential extra 90 minutes to play but given the much documented rest and rotation surrounding their DGWs, I think it's fair to say that the main attacking targets from those two teams (namely Silva, Aguero, Tevez, Mata, Hazard and Lampard) won't play more than 360 minutes (i.e. 4 games' worth).

If my assumption is correct, that means we can effectively ignore their DGW and should look purely at the form, fixture strength as well as what their focus will be. Therefore, I would argue that it's better to own Walcott, Cazorla and Gerrard rather than targeting Silva and one or more Chelsea of the Chelsea mids. I'd also argue that Suarez offers better value than Aguero.

    Discuss.

      Agree/disagree.

You can;t pass up a DGW simply because of rotation, just get players that are nailed on.

I'll be most likely giving Chelsea a miss, and getting Aguero and maybe Zabaleta.

      Spooky 😯

Was going to compose a post very much along these lines. I suspect there will only be a handful of 'true' DGW players from Chelsea and Man City and predicting who those players will be nigh on impossible. That's not to say Chelsea and Man City players are a bad idea per se but it will be a big gamble taking a hit to get any of them in.

On paper I've felt my team is in good shape, but in reality the past two GW's have been shocking.

    Fabianski/Sczcesny
    Rafael-Enrique-Samba-STaylor-Clyne
    Mata-Hazard-Cazorla-Fellaini-Michu
    Rooney-Lambert-Berbatov

I feel I've been kind of unlucky with Rafael, Fabianski and Rooney. Also the Chelsea duo are not doing anything for me. I'll probably only get something like 5 points midweek as well.

What the hell should I do for next GW?

Mata/Hazard > Bale is your priority, other than that your midfield looks ok.

Berbatov > Kone could be a wise move, giving you a strong front-line.

I'd be tempted to look at a Spurs defender, especially Dawson if his plays is still secure by the time the DGW comes around, perhaps for Saylor or Rafael (next week).

Other than that your team is fine!

Not sure why he's still flagged, apparently he trained with the first team all last week, was gonna take a hit to take him out for Jones or Evra but thought I'd give him one last chance, he's been stinking up my team for far too long now.
