While the Scout League looks to be a one-horse race, our focus turns to our leader in the Sky Sports game who is now within touching distance of top spot and a grasp on the £25k top prize. We examine his quest for glory, acknowledge our community’s other leading players, glance at the recent transfer trends and indulge in a pre-match kickabout with the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

Once again, Chris Pearce enjoyed another strong Gameweek, leaving those around him in his wake. His “UtakaDefoeKingPearce” lineup is now sitting on an impressive 2032 points, some 50 ahead of his nearest Scout League rival – Paul McAnulty and his “Housewives Favourite” squad. Pascal Evans’ “Covport” jumped back into third in our rankings, leaping over Chris Tuck’s wonderfully named, “Vuvuzela Symphony”; Pascal’s second Covport lineup remains fifth.

While Pearce looks to have the Scout League sewn up, his recent progress in the overall rankings remains pretty extraordinary and suggests that anything is possible. For the third week running, Chris closed the gap and is now just 13 points from toppling long time leader, Simon Ward. Having been 82 points behind under a month ago, this would truly be a huge turnaround. It looks like we’re heading for a nail-biting conclusion, with a hefty cheque up for grabs for the Fantasy manager who can stay the distance.

Chris’ progress has contributed to the Scout League stretching its lead at the top of the Private League rankings – we’re now over 26 points ahead thanks to the performances of our managers, with seven names in the overall top 20.

A reminder that if you’re playing the Sky Sports game and have yet to join our league, you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Trends

Despite blanking in both his double Gameweek fixtures, Marouane Fellaini’s return to Everton’s lineup was enough to tempt investment from Fantasy managers. Mirroring the Fantasy Premier League game, the Belgian is the most popular signing in the Gameweek, with over 6% of trades seeing Fellaini brought into squads.

Elsewhere, City’s Sergio Aguero has earned interest after his FA Cup semi-final exploits – no doubt with Sky Sports managers seeking a differential for the season run-in. Like Aguero, Arsenal’s Santi Cazorla has been brought in as part of over 3% of the transfers made this week. The Spaniard’s popularity continues to soar: only Robin Van Persie has more owners in the game. Despite blanking in his two Gameweek fixtures, the Gunners playmaker has gathered 27 points in the last four weeks – only Michael Carrick can match that form amongst the midfielders in the game.

In the opposite column, Gareth Bale has again suffered losses – his recent injury has seen his owners shedding his services, despite his consistent form: over 10% of the trades made in the last seven days have seen Bale moved on.

Luis Suarez is another player being sold on, with four straight blanks no doubt convincing his owners to reconsider their options up top. Even Michu has suffered a decline in ownership this week: over 3% of the transfers made saw the Swansea hitman make way as a result of his blank Gameweek. Those managers may now regret that move given his home fixture with Southampton this weekend and his forthcoming double.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 10pm

There’s a change of tactics in the Fantasy Football Club ranks – tonight, Fenners and Merse are recruiting Boris Becker into their burgeoning squad. While we’re unsure on his football credentials, the banter with Merse should be worth the watch. Join that trio tonight at 10pm on Sky Sports one or, if you miss out, catch up at 9am tomorrow on Sky Sports two.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    Hi guys,

Have enough money to be able to do Benteke ➡ Tevez for a -4.

I already done Fellaini ➡ Maloney. If I do the above transfer I'll be likely benching Maloney. So make the above transfer of play Maloney?

    I have 3 options...

    A) Cazorla > Bale

    B) Harte > Figueroa (He'll be on the bench, but come on if both Davies and Rafael are non-starters. This is mostly in preparation for the DGW)

    C) HRK > Maloney (Same as B...)

Leaning towards A as Caz is doubtful and I already have Walcott & Giroud. Sensible?

A for sure, but why Lampard, decent fixtures after this week including a DGW, on pens, going for the record.

If my main rival didn't still have Mata, meaning I'll likely go with him to cut that point of attack off Lampard would be someone I was looking to buy, not sell,

    DDG
    Sagna, Turner, Baines
    Yaya, Fellaini, Santi, Michu
    RVP (C), Aguero, Giroud

    Robles, Maloney, Nastasic, Shaw

Really want to get Maloney in my first 11 but can't see where. Fellaini always performs against Sunderland. Check the stats for when Everton last lost a match to the lads, it'll be 2-2 with Fellaini scoring. He's like Tim Cahill used to be against us. Think I'll just leave it, and injuries/rotation should take care of it. Also saves a transfer and allows a look at Bale.

    Hello everyone

So what are the opinions here about making Robles as 1st choice GK ahead of his DGW? (With no back-up choice i.e. other being 3.9m GK)
He seems like nailed on & De Gea to Robles on GW 36 would bring lot of surplus.. Note that I’m speaking about going without any back-up choice.. Good?

Hart does have the extra edge of being nailed on in the league too. Even for a hit, Hart will make the points back on DDG I think, especially with a DGW in his favour.

That was in my thoughts until Robles came along, so no point for me, what was the point in buying Robles for DGW to only go and buy Hart afterwards. I set myself up on wc so that, bar losing Baines to Vert all my transfers would be spent in attack

As I said though, Hart will score 4 more points than DDG over the season, comfortably I'd say.

Worth a hit if you ask me, with those fixtures, security of starts and a DGW.

Not that simple though is it. It depends what else you could do with that one transfer and how that would have paid off. Like CP i just don't spend transfers on goalies. Only look at those during a WC

Of course it's worth the hit. But what we are talking about is getting the MOST points possible, not simply whether Player A vs Player B is worth a hit.

You also have to take into account what would have happened if you'd used the transfer elsewhere. Like further up the pitch, where the player who could have brought in doesn't have a ceiling of only 6 points

I've said many times, multiple hits can be justified if there is a very good chance of getting you plenty more points.

The Hart transfer is a good one, as would any player with a DGW as well as favourable fixtures and secure starts for the rest of the season.

🙂 it seems like you are skirting around the issue somewhat!

Everything you said is true but as before, i'd rather use my 'multiple hits' to bring in forwards/midfielders who at least have the potential to pick up a double digit score.

The security of starts is a major plus point though and so is the DGW (obviously). In theory i'd much rather spend my money (and my transfer) on a Citeh defender but it's so hard to nail down who'll get the minutes

Do you think DDG > Hart (-4) is worth it from the double and onwards?

Hart could easily get back-to-back cleanies in the DGW, and I don't think United will keep Chelsea out.

Lindegaard could also get some game time after the title is won, and my 2nd keeper (Federici) is out of favour/injured/retarded...

Even if DDG plays every game, I'd say yes. I can see a CS for City in every game after the Spurs game. Obviously, they will probably concede at some point, but their fixtures are excellent from a defensive point of view.

United still have to play Chelsea and Arsenal, and I can see both scoring against them.

So, if United keep a CS against everyone but Arsenal and Chelsea, DDG will get around 20 more points this season after the Villa game. Hart just needs to keep 3 clean sheets out of his last 5 games to beat that, and IMO they could get 4 or 5.

hart won't be rested either due to panti keeping his place in the fa cup.. I always feel bad taking a hit to swap gks.. but ddg-hart looks pretty solid

I've narrowed it down to 2 options this week everyone. If I do one transfer, ill be doing the other next week in all probability.

    Which transfer for this week?

    A) Berbatov > Lukaku (bench Cazorla)
    B) Cazorla > Bale (bench Berbtov)

Wouldnt do either unless Cazorla is confirmed out of it.

I'm doing B, but that's only because I already have Walcott and Giroud + Davies/Rafael which are both not assured to start.

Repost, just looking for a few more opinions.

    Hi guys,

Have enough money to be able to do Benteke Tevez for a -4.

I already done Fellaini Maloney. If I do the above transfer I’ll be likely benching Maloney. So make the above transfer or play Maloney?

Not this week, no. Tekkers could do OK against Manc Utd, save the pts.

    BENCH 1:

    1) Fellaini (likely to play deep 'cause of Osman's absence & facing rejuvenated Sunderland in away game)
    2) Berbatov (likely to play deep 'cause of Duff's absence & facing Gunners at home with Spot kick duties in his locker as usual)
    3) Townsend (principal player for QPR these days & usually plays in Wing position of front 3 & also facing out of sorts Stoke at home)
