Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed Gareth Bale will return to Tottenham’s squad for Sunday’s vital home clash with City. Aaron Lennon and Jermain Defoe are both back for the north London outfit as they attempt to get their bid for a third place finish back on track.

With a double Gameweek 36 edging ever closer, today’s news will undoubtedly get the Bale bandwagon up and running. Although Villas-Boas wouldn’t quite confirm whether he’ll start with the Welshman after his recent spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, there’s every likelihood he’ll make an instant return to the first XI:

“I am pretty confident [Bale will be fit]. He’s made good progress from the beginning of the week to be training with the team so I think he will definitely up for selection. Is he fit to start? This is obviously a decision that I have to make and I don’t make it public. There has been a good recovery obviously from Defoe so he’s trained with the team all week. Gazza has been training also, just the last two days with the team but on his own since the beginning of the week. Lennon has been recovering progressively, there is still a chance. He hasn’t trained with the team yet so there is one more training session to go. All of them are in with a chance of making the selection.”

Rafa Benitez may be set for some defensive reinforcements as he prepares to travel to former club Liverpool. The Chelsea boss revealed both Ashley Cole and Gary Cahill have returned to training but is still uncertain as to whether either will play a part at Anfield:

“It is good news. We have had Gary Cahill and Ashley Cole training today so that was really positive… Maybe it is too early, but we will see tomorrow after another training session.”

David Moyes reckons there’s only “an outside chance” of Leon Osman returning in time for Everton’s trip to Sunderland. Osman’s absence could see Marouane Fellaini continue in a more withdrawn role with Ross Barkley tucked in behind Victor Anichebe once again if Moyes sticks with the same side that drew at Arsenal on Tuesday evening.

Damien Duff remains sidelined for Fulham with a groin problem, while Martin Jol has also revealed Sascha Riether will be assessed after picking up a knock against Chelsea on Wednesday. Steve Sidwell returns for the Cottagers, though, after serving a three-match ban.

With Newcastle still licking their wounds after Sunday’s Tyne-Wear derby defeat, Alan Pardew had further cause for concern today. Cheick Tiote is “a big doubt” for tomorrow’s trip to West Brom after picking up another hamstring problem, while Sylvain Marveaux is out due to a groin strain. Given that the likes of Tim Krul, Fabricio Coloccini and Davide Santon are all unavailable, Fantasy faith in Romelu Lukaku and co looks set to be boosted for the Hawthorns clash. Pardew has also admitted he is likely to continue utilising Hatem Ben Arfa as a sub as the Frenchman continues to edge his way back to full match fitness after a series of hamstring injuries this season.

Finally, Santi Cazorla, Jack Wilshere and Tomas Rosicky have all been pictured training for Arsenal earlier today, suggesting they are likely to be available return for tomorrow afternoon’s trip to Fulham as Arsene Wenger’s side look to bounce back from Tuesday’s disappointing draw with Everton.

Too much upheaval of the team and points hits. I think this will be the worst GW to be without him. From here on in hopefully he might get a rest or two (?)

    Afternoon all from Austria

Will be flying back to Blighty tomorrow morning so would really appreciate some advice on my team. Can definitely get away without a transfer but thinking of santi--> bale

    Bego (fed)
O'brien, Martin r, sagna, (zab, Wilson)
    Walcott, santi, fell, Michu (Townsend)
    RVP, benteke, Suarez

Assuming no changes should I play Townsend at home to awful stoke or Benteke away to strong Man U?

1 FT 2.1M in the bank, I'm tempted to save the transfer but here are some other options:

    A) Cazorla/Fellaini ---> Michu
    B) Cameron ---> Vertonghen
    C) Shaw/Davies/Cameron ---> Kolarov or another City defender.

What do you think I should do? 🙂

I think you should do Fellaini -> Michu. Owning Fellaini in that DGW was horrific and we can't be sure that Moyes will play him in a more advanced role anytime soon.
Plus you wince every time he throws himself into a tackle..always liable to get a card.

Won't Sir Mark Noble take O'neils place? Saw he was on the bench vs us.

Good captain and correct subs imo

Even though your 'all about form' quote made me switch my captain from RVP to Carzola, I will give you honest advice: I was in the same situation and I sold Walcott for Mich, left Carzola as most have him in my mini league

Decided on saving a transfer but what about my bench?

    1) Play Fellaini or Pienaar?

    2) Who to play from Clichy, Alcaraz and Sagna?

Team good to go? Really unsure about captain choice.

    DDG
    Sagna – Nasti - Baines
    Cazorla – Michu (v) – Fellaini – Walcott
    Suarez – Rooney (c) – Berbatov

    Robles – Maloney – Dawson - Dawson

    snooker 1st round prediction

1)Roonie vs Campbell - easy win for O'Sullivan ,couldn't be better draw

2)Carter vs Woolaston - i'd perssonaly avoid this one cause Woolaston look like very improving player,on the other hand he will be under much pressure cause of crucible and Carter ,,should'' win it

3)Bingham vs Briad-Briad did well to qf since he won already 4 matches or so but Bingo has been in great form all season long and he should win easily

4)Higgins vs Davies-i hate Higgins so much and i really want see Davies in next round but this is a hard call (higgins has been in bad form whole season) but yet again he is 4 time world champion and at his day he should win it , good bet could be ,,manny frames'' cause i expecting long match

5)Murphy vs Gould-h2h record back murphy heavily but i fancy some upset and Gould win

6)Dott vs Ebdon-most borning match of the round-Dott wins

7)FU vs Stevens- i fancy Fu to win this onež

    8)Trump vs Dale-Trump

    9)Roberston vs Milkins-Robertson easy

10)Walden vs Holt-thik Holt can beat Ricky

11)Williams vs White - young vs old welsh gun , can't pick a winner, will say williams simply cause of his expirience but wouldn't be suprised if young White can go in next round

    12)Maguire vs poomajeng-Maguire wins

    13)Allen vs King-Allen wins

    14)Ding vs McManus-Ding wins

15)Hawkins vs Lisowki-think Lisowski will go far in tournament,he is a joy to watch

    16)Selby vs Selt-Selby wins

Ok, for a 4 point hit:

Santi out, Valencia in (for some extra funds - have Walcott already, and maybe AV has a couple of good weeks left)

Gardner out, Maloney in (with an eye on DGW 36.

    Any thoughts?
