After a brief hiatus, it’s time to darken the door of our bookmaker friends, Paddy Power, to interrupt them counting out their Grand National profit and offer up some Scout Pick markets for this week’s “Flutter”.

With another double Gameweek looming large, Fantasy managers are already circling Swansea’s Michu. Strangely omitted from the Player of the Year nominations, the Spaniard has been an outstanding performer this term, cracking 17 goals in a debut Premier League season. It seems unlikely he’ll settle on that tally and with Southampton at the Liberty this weekend, Michu will be targeting his third goal in as many games. Paddy are offering up 17/2 on a Michu goal with a Swansea clean sheet at home to the Saints. We’ll have some of that to the tune of £3 of our stake money.

Robert Snodgrass didn’t quite sneak his way into the Picks this week but made our bench amidst strong competition for the midfield places. Nevertheless, the former Leeds man will likely be the chief tormentor of basement-dwellers Reading at Carrrow Road on Saturday. Snodgrass was on target against Swansea in his last home outing and Paddy are dangling 15/2 on a Snoddy goal with a Canaries clean sheet against the Royals. Those odds claim another £2 of our cash.

That leaves a cool fiver for our final two bets – the bulk of which is going on Paddy’s Romelu Lukaku market. The bustling Belgian started life on the bench in the 2-1 defeat to the Gunners but we can’t see beyond a start for him when Newcastle pay visit to the Hawthorns this weekend. The Magpies have been torn asunder by injuries and with spirits low after the shocking reverse to Sunderland, we’d wager they’ll be some joy for the Baggies and Lukaku. With odds of 8/1 on a Lukaku goal with a West Brom clean sheet against Newcastle, we’re comfortable with throwing £4 Paddy’s way.

Finally, that leaves just a pound coin for our usual treble bet. This week it pairs the goal power of Robin Van Persie and Luis Suarez, together with QPR’s desperation for a shut-out in their crucial clash with Stoke at Loftus Road. Paddy are offering 8/1 on a Van Persie goal against Villa, a Suarez strike when Chelsea visit Anfield and a clean sheet for the R’s at home to the Potters.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Good to see a fellow Brighton fan. Looking forward to prem league action next season? Meanwhile I'd probably bench Fellaini as he is likely to play the deepest. Lambert should never be benched.

    Team for this week:

    Robles,
    Baines, Zabaleta, Demel,
    Cazorla, Walcott, Fellaini, Michu (V),
    RVP (C), Suarez, Berba.

Fabianski, Guthrie, Wilson, Harte. (0.3m, no FT)

All in order? Or should I put Wilson ahead of Guthrie on the bench? (Or maybe even start him ahead of Zab?) Captaincy choice correct? Any other changes required? Thanks, guys. 🙂

Is selling Rooney something that United should do this season? He seems to have technically regressed since breaking onto the scene from Everton all those years ago. His hattrick against Fenerbache, his two wonder goals against Middlesborough in the league, THAT volley against Newcastle ... His first touch, technique, composure are all now pretty poor if we compare him to some of the other top players globally. He also doesnt seem to be able to get any sort of physical fitness. Would you see him in Barca, Real Madrid, Bayern or even (as touted in the papers) PSG's side? Does he add more quality than Lavezzi, Lucas or Ibrahimovic? And at United where does he fit? Van Persie is a stronger option up top and I'd like to see Kagawa operated 'in the hole' where Rooney is typically considered to be at his best. The Japanese star has better composure, first touch and vision - Rooney isn't naturally the through ball type ala Iniesta.

So where do United play him if he isn't the strongest in either of his main two positions? Fergie looks like he is experimenting with sticking him in midfield like he did with Alan Smith. But it looks too square peg round hole for me. I'm getting to the point where I'm thinking selling Rooney for an actual world class midfielder might not be such a bad shout after all. Thoughts?

I am not entirely against the idea of selling him. I am generally optimistic when it comes to players form and i hope he turns this around but, i am not entirely against the idea of selling.

Lewa and a CM are needed though.

I would but his quality has been deteriorating for 2 years now.
His touch atm, is quite appaling. He finds it tough to hold possession and even in the centre, i don't quite like how he uses the ball.

I entirely hope i am wrong and this is just a phase for Wayne. But, i am worried.

Excluding the last two matches, I have to disagree. I think he has been playing quite well, especially considering he's still recovering from a couple of injuries, better then Van Persie in fact. He needs to build his momentum back up again.

He's put on a sub standard, poor quality performance quite a few times this season.

That's kind of my point. He has turned from the star of the squad to a 'valued member'. Stars are indespensible, members can be chopped and changed. You don't want to get to the point where he is a glorified O'Shea on a Ronaldo wage.

He is a firm starter, especially with Young out for the season, I'd expect him to play every game until the end of the season. I just din't think you could say nailed on though, Utd have options in midfield that they'll want to give games to, and he is not nailed on in the manner that Bale, Caz, Gerrard, ect are for their clubs. He is more like Mata nailed on.

Lads, quick question and one more.

    - Would you play Santi over Fellaini if you had Walcott already in your team?
    - Pick 2 to play out of Davies, Demel, Zabaleta and Sagna

Who would you guys play out of Fellaini and Anichebe this week? If Felllaini is playing deep which everyone seems to think will be the case, would you start Anichebe and bench Fellaini?

    Thanks
