Peaks and troughs – every Fantasy season has them and, this week, we revel in the Professor’s major trough in a futile attempt to break the man. After Robin Van Persie issues the boffin a spanking, the Professor shows his mettle by taking it on the chin. Admirable stuff.

While we’d have gladly devoted this entire episode to such gloating, we do manage to squeeze in the regulars, whilst Jonty turns up with more community gold: the tale of a globe trotting Fantasy manager who takes his advice off Frankfurt clubbers and QPR fans, whilst trying to figure out the Russian phrase for “please, wireless, I’m desperate – I have Djibril Cisse up front!”.

By the way, the Professor isn’t the only one who can take criticism on the chin. Granville and I want some feedback on the ScoutCast and my co-host has worked on a short survey to get your views. Take five minutes to help us out while you listen in via this link.

Should I take a hit to bring in Vertonghen this week or do it for free next?

Hey guys, this is a really tough one for me so would really appreciate your help.

    A) Begovic + Vertonghen (no pt hits as I already have Begovic)

    or

    B) Hart + Dawson (4 pt hit)

I found this interesting thinking about...as my interest is deeply invested in it.

Because Wigan and Villa play each other on the last day of the season, it's potentially a huge advantage to likes of us (Sunderland) in the relegation battle.

It means that even if we are only a mere 1 point clear of both teams by GW37, we will have stayed up. There is no possible way we can then be relegated in GW38 due to our far superior goal difference.

So basically if we are 1 point clear by GW37 we cannot be relegated. Fantastic! We can do this!

    🙂

There is though potentially the nightmare scenario where we would all be on the same points which would mean that if we lost to Spurs on the last day...Wigan and Villa would only have to draw their game against each other to both survive... 😯

In response to your initial question though, the Arsenal-supporting bro is the youngest so he only started supporting them a while after we'd all decided where our loyalties lay...before that he supported any team that Robbie Keane played for...so it was either Wolves, Coventry, Inter Milan etc haha!

We all feel bitter that he decided to support a successful football team unlike us lot...well they were successful when he started supporting anyway... 😉

I don't really know, it's weird. All my friends supported Man utd and I'd even been given man utd jerseys because I was into football a lot but I never really felt like I wanted to support them. I think I maybe took inspiration from my older bro supporting Newcastle...I thought it was cool to support someone different. Then I remember there were 3 clubs who came up one season and I decided I liked Sunderland the most out of them and their colours...so I just decided I'd support them from then on! I didn't even know Newcastle were Sunderland's rivals 😆

Chelsea DF usually do well on DGW, so I'm considering Luiz / Ivanovic.
But their fixtures seem tough (mun/TOT) and also Europa to care about.
Spurs and City might be better investment, I feel..

Any move worth 4 pts hit from this week?
    A: Rafael --> Vertonghen
B: Rafael --> Kompany (already own Zabs)
    C: Rafael --> Ivanovic
    D: Enrique --> Luiz

I'm finding it hard to resist Vertonghen's explosive potential...even though I already have Dawson. That could be a mistake but he just looks so tempting.

But most important is the striker dilemma

Aguero/Kone/Ba/Defoe - getting Vert means no Defoe and Ba whilst tempting is hindered by rotation risk + tough DGW and the fact he's a risky one to keep beyond the DGW too. So I've kind of whittled it down to Aguero vs Kone.

              So basically

              Striker transfer is a must
              Def - Vert/Hart/Kompany
Mid - I could just play Fellaini/Cabaye but I might gamble on someone like Hazard

              That order I think

Maloney and Kone is a possibility...but I'd probably prefer Kone a little bit. It depends how I budget it alll. If I need to go cheap mid then Maloney is ideal...but if I have the funds I'd probably prefer someone like Hazard...despite the difficult fixtures.

help. which one is a better team for DGW36 for a -12 hit?

    Team A

    Hart
    Zaba Vert Davies
    Bale Mata Michu Maloney
    RVP Tevez Kone

    Team B

    Hart
    Zaba Vert Luiz
    Bale Mata Michu Walcott
    Tevez Kone Benteke

**i can do Benteke > Defoe in Team B for a further -4 hit 😯

B I would have Defoe before Vert but both are permo players for the dgw but you might want to think of hanging on to Rafa that is just 2 much of a hit imo

I know Maloney has a dgw but the lad has only scored double points once this session as opposed to Walcotts 4 double point hauls

    Total points
    Walcott 164
    Maloney 106

I still think that you take the potential returns of 2 games over 1. Wigan's DGW fixtures are nice as well.

Maloney is so appealing because he's on set-pieces and pens. The wee Scot can take a proper FK.

      Tough decision.

I don't envy you that decision...

It's the memory of that Newcastle game that makes Walcott seem so appealing.

The pros are that Wally is potentially upfront against a poor team.

the cons are that it isn't a home match (arguably QPR may concede only 1/2 goals in a tight match)

Maloney is guaranteed 4 points plus on average you would say over two games he has a good chance of either scoring or assisting. I guess the gamble is that he might do both and reach the 15 points mark which would be what you'd be scared of Walcott doing.

Basically I guess it comes down to...do you gamble on Maloney getting a single attacking return over Walcott getting two attacking returns (which would make him likely to outscore Maloney)

I have no idea what's going on 😯

Interesting article, Wenger claims Chelsea are bringing in Falcao and Mouinho, and then some....

A guy like Wenger would have a wide network of spies, so no doubt some truth to it....

Thing is, Arsenal have just as good a team as Chelsea, they just need a couple of key pieces...

    Jovetic is not the answer!

Wenger should buy Benteke and Joleon Lescott, then Arsenal could challenge imo

Fist of all, more important than FF, back up any important files, you might have a visus in your home network.Try on another network, not your own broadband on another PC. If that's ok try your laptop on other network.

Who's giving those prices? Mata won't be top scorer. Hasn't scored for a while. Tevez is best value there.

None (Federici). Considering the Hart -4 move this week rather than next.

I probably will. I'd be taking a hit next week anyway, so the -4 isn't a factor. The only danger is Hart getting injured, but seems a slim chance.

Sell lots of people taking big hits this week so you will be ok and well prepared for the dgw if you pick the right man

I suggest Vrom but its up to you

    De Gea,
    Pearce, Wilson, Zabaleta
    Mata, Walcott, Bale, Fellaini
    RVP, Lambert, Benteke

    Bunn, Maloney, Sagna, Evans

    1.4m in the bank.

Pay particular attention to my defence. Is it worth taking a hit to bring in a DGW player with a good fixtrure this weekend? If so, then who?

I may not even have three defenders playing!!

Pearce and Wilson won't play, I would try and bring a cheap DGW defender, perhaps Dawson?

Thank you. Interestingly, they are two defenders I have in mind. I would swap Pearce out. I am sure that either will get a clean sheet this weekend though.

Right think I'll do Berba to Defoe. i do wonder that, even off the bench Defoe could outscore Berba.
