With just three Gameweeks to go, the inaugural Fantasy Football Scout Shield, a tournament featuring the top Fantasy Managers from this season’s Cups, reaches it’s last eight. Here’s a round-up of the first round results, plus the draw for the Quarter-Finals.

Our Fantasy Football Scout Cup winner, Wild Rover, was a notable casualty at the weekend, falling at the first hurdle to the powerful Giavara555 – the former FPL number one won out by a nine point margin and with a rank of 73, is one of the early favourites for the crown. He faces a tough Quarter-Final however, with Eunach Jelly waiting form him in the last eight have won a low scoring affair in the first round. The “Jellyman” was previously ranked 281 in the world just three Gameweeks ago but has slipped after three straight red arrows to a current rank of 1086. Nonetheless, he will provide a formidable obstacle to Giavara555’s progress.

Mile High will meet MrKK in the last eight, with the former having won a titanic struggle with cuihe_508, getting the edge on rank alone. With a standing of 43 in the world, Mile High has to be the tournament favourite and the name to avoid – an unfortunate draw for MrKK, then. Although, with a rank of 1077, he will be far from a pushover.

Acquafresca is clearly on a roll after his Members Cup victory, he stormed into the next round with a win over Maddocio, where he’ll face Ricky Smokes lets go who progressed with a convincing first round win over ange1range1 in a rematch of their Cup Quarter-Final earlier in the season. Ricky is the lowest ranked player remaining in the tournament with a standing of 14194; the fact that all our players in the last eight are in the top 15k in the world is a mark of the standard involved.

The final Quarter-Final pairs former Members Cup winner, Fuzzy Dunlop, with Tommy Tynans Left Shinpad. Both enjoyed convincing victories in the first round and, with a rank of 2119 against Tommy’s 5365, Fuzzy will be the favourite to progress from this tie.

All matches will be played out over Gameweek 36.

RMT computer goes crazy when I input RVP > Aguero, Sissoko > Hazard and Baines > Vertonghen for a 12 pt hit

    It likes it alot

However it goes crazier for Sissoko > Maloney, Baines > Vertonghen > Begovic to Hart -12

Was all set on 1, not so sure now

I'm risking it and going without Chelsea mids. The only way I can afford Mata/Hazard is by selling RVP, but I won't do that.

rvp has chelsea, swansea and w brom. Chances are he starts maybe 2 of those

Aguero has swansea away, reading away and norwich home. Likely missing w brom home. Good fixtures and looked dangerous v w ham?

Of course he will. He's matured into a class player, one who has near enough played in every game this season for the best team in the country. No reason at all why he won't not only keep it up but continue to get better and learn his role

I am not saying he is worthless, he plays every game for the champions in England and he gets picked by arguably one of the best managers ever so that is worth something...but to be hailed as one of the best players in the league, give me a break. Not very athletic, not fast, not the greatest passer, not very handsome, mistake prone...

So who does that role better in the league that should have been in the team? Arteta? Cabaye? Gerrard? Not imo.

You could argue Yaya and there is little doubt he's a better technical football than Carrick but nevertheless, Carrick has had a better season and had a far bigger impact on many games this season

If you have a free, maybe RVP to Aguero? Dunno if RVP will play 90mins 3 more times til the end of the season, with the title and golden boot both in the bag (unless benteke or bale score 10-15 in three weeks of course).

Maybe fergie wants the record pts total the mug!!!

      Great looking team though.

Oh yea, and didn't Davies go off injured after about 15-20mins and is not even guaranteed starts besides that anymore???

Not injured, Taylor is getting a run in now that he is back from injury. But yes, Davies is a rotation doubt, no question. Will think about that one.

RvP will play against Chelsea and then who knows...feels wrong selling RvP for a hit especially since he's hit a nice little run of form.

My big decision is whether to play Davies (MCI, wig) or Enrique (EVE)

It seems a no brainer to go for the DGWer but is it really?

I am debating the same thing. I am half tempted to even get Davies out for a hit for another nailed on DGWer...

      I'm playing Baines over Davies.
Potential Davies rotation made it an easy choice

I think Davies could score like 3 points...maybe even less if he gets rested for Taylor...that's my worry. it's a tricky decision...I'll feel a bit daft benching him though

Yeah, it's a risk benching any DGW player, its the Baines factor swinging it for me.
If he scored a penalty against Liverpool while I'm watching it live I might never play FPL again haha

Ignore City and it's Wigan cs vs Everton. Tough call, not sure who I'd play which means I'd probably do the dgwer.

        yeah that's interesting...

        wig vs EVE

it's not really that clear cut...wigan are pretty poor and Liverpool are strong at home and on good defensive form...wherease Swans have been awful defensively.

Arrgh I wish I didn't have this dilemma!

Isn't it entirely possible that a team consisting of not a single DGW'er, outscores a team like mine, and many, with 9,10,11 DGW'ers???

There are so many weeks where I sit here and think this is it, I am getting 100 this week, or this is it, this week I will get THE HIGHEST score in the world! It never happens.

I have 11 dgw'ers including Bale, Vert, Komp, Luiz, Mata, Tevez, and I am spending more time looking at the other fixtures thinking how many pts I will be missing!!!

Arsenal could literally smash QPR ten nil
Norwich could lay down and Benteke and co, after their last match, could smash them.
    Sunderland could batter Stoke
West Ham could really smash Newcastle too at the moment.
Then there is the Liverpool derby which both teams need and want to win. Liverpool look good for the derby, so there is Gerrard, Hendo(did i say that?) ,Coutinho, Sturridge and GJ/ENrique

So the likes of Cazorla, Walcott, Podolski, Coutinho, Sturridge, Berbatov etc etc etc could all get massive returns. I know you can't have everyone from every team, every week, but what are the chances a team made up of all the non DGW'ers like the ones I listed, outscores my 11 DGW'ers!!////???

I think it's quite likely that a dead team could beat your score this week, but in reality all of your league opponents will be prepared with DGW players and you will fall behind them without the same preparation.
It's not really something I'd be too worried about - losing one week to managerless teams.

Ok last question before I go to bed:

    1. Fellaini, Lambert, RvP -> Mata, Kone, Lukaku (-8)

    or

    2. Fellaini, Lambert -> Nasri, Lukaku (-4)

(Rest of my mids and fwds are Tevez Michu Walcott Bale Marv.)

Ok, I'm really coming round to playing Enrique over Davies...

    Davies last 10 scores:

    2,1,0,7,1,1,0,0,6,0

That's 1.8 ppg over the last 10 games. So on average he's looking at getting barely over 3 points in the DGW. Add in the fact he might be rotated with Taylor and he's been a YC magnet...it could be even less.

    Enrique's last 10 scores:

    1,18, 6, 4, 1, 2, 6, 6, 1, 6

that's 5.1 ppg over the last 10. And Liverpool have kept 9 cleansheets at home this season and 3 in the last 4.

    Conclusion: 😯

          2,6,1,1,14,2,13,4,2,1.
4.6 ppg in the last 10. And only 1 CS in last ten 😯

yeah...pretty atrocious CS record...don't know why I've doubled up on Spurs defence 😯

But that 4.6 is pretty good for a defender who keeps no CS!!
