Proceedings took another dramatic twist at the top of the Sky Sports rankings, as Fantasy Football Scout’s contender took a tumble in his battle for the overall prize. We take a look at the landscape going into the final day, whilst assessing how the transfer market is shaping up before popping in to check on tonight’s episode of the Fantasy Football Club.

The Scout League

Chris Pearce’s campaign for the overall Sky Sports prize took a huge blow in the week as a three point gap widened to a full 30 points following Tuesday’s clashes. With Santi Cazorla contributing a mammoth 19 points, we can only presume that leader Simon Ward had the Spaniard in his lineup, perhaps even as captain, for Arsenal’s 4-1 demolition of Wigan. That leaves Chris with the Scout League firmly in his grasp but facing a “do or die” final Gameweek in which he surely has to take a punt with his armband choice and hope for the best.

Chris leads the Scout League by 46 points ahead of Paul McAnulty’s “Housewives Favourite” lineup, while Pascal Evans’ “Covport” remains in third spot. Those three are included in the overall top five in the game, emphasising the level of competition in the Scout League this season.

Neil Fleeson’s “Roumeli Rangers” rank fourth in our league, ninth overall, while Terry O’Callaghan has lept back into our top five with his “Cosmic Raiders” squad – Terry sits in 13th overall.

Fantasy Football Scout lead the Private League rankings by 30 points going into the final weekend – a superb showing in our first season supporting the game.

It’s not too late to join our ranks: you can still sign up to the FFScout League with this Pin: 8004519.

Market Trends

With three goals in his last three matches, it’s Theo Walcott who has been the hot property this week. The Gunners’ flyer has been brought in as part of 8% of the trades made as Fantasy managers look to repair their midfields after recent injuries and suspensions. Interest in Gareth Bale also remains buoyant – like Walcott, he still has everything to play for on the final day and over 6% of transfers this week have seen the Welshman’s services acquired.

Both Philippe Coutinho and Marouane Fellaini are amongst the top five players brought in over the past seven days, as squads continue to shed the injured Steven Gerrard. The Liverpool skipper has made up almost 12% of the transfers out taking place. Strangely, folk are also still shedding Swansea’s Michu, with over 11% of transfers seeing the Spaniard sold on – having scored at Old Trafford and with a strong fixture against Fulham on Sunday, Michu has suddenly become a decent differential option for the final Gameweek.

Despite his hat-trick last time out and an obliging home fixture with QPR on Sunday, Daniel Sturridge has only been brought in as part of 6% of the transfers made this week, with Sky Sports managers perhaps settled on their forward lines and pressed to make changes in other positions. Bizarrely, then, with just over 3% ownership in the game, Sturridge will face QPR as a ready-made differential captain choice for those looking to bridge a gap.

The Fantasy Football Club – Tonight 7pm

Dwight Yorke takes his place in the Fantasy Football Club forward line in tonight’s episode, while Champions Leauge winner, Paulo Sousa, will be stiffening up the midfield. Fenners and Merse kicked-off at 7pm tonight but, if you missed out on that, you can catch the re-run on Sky Sports two from 9.30 tomorrow morning.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I just got back on. Too hard a question for me. Baines is someone who you should always play going off FF rules. I'd bench Clyne for starters.

I think Dempsey really could be the differential captain choice this weekend.

Playing for something, in form, goalscorer ... why not?

I hate that I'm going to be stuck in limbo with Aguero though. I'm just going to have to play him, and hope that he is either fit, or Fellaini scores if he isn't.

I'm feeling you on the Aguero worry. Nothing I can say. Dempsey is a decent punt, but a punt. You will definitely deserve to do this if it works: 😎

I feel like it's lose-lose. If I take him out, he will start and score 4. If I keep him in, he won't play and Carroll and Adebayor will get double figure scores just to annoy me.

I would (and I am a somewhat reckless player) lose aguero and get someone you know will play and think will score well (eg, Carroll, Ade, etc). This is not sage advice, this is just telling you what I would end up doing.

    Which team is better:

    Hart
    Luiz, Vert, Baines
    Maloney, Mata, lamps, Bale, Walcott
    Tevez, Sturridge
    (no hit)

    Hart
    Luiz, Vert, Baines
    Michu, Mata, lamps, Bale, Walcott
    Tevez, Sturridge
    (-4)

The difference is Michu (-4) v Maloney

You look pretty safe to me. A 30 point lead with a great team, and I'm sure your rival probably has a few of the same players. You could upgrade your bench as you just don't know sometimes, who will play that last game and you may need to call upon your bench

If money is no object, maybe Maloney to Santi or Dempsey, someone with something to play for.

With that team, you'll be very unlucky to lose a 30 point lead.

Use the FT to build the best possible bench you can have. If somebody unexpectedly gets rotated it'd be a shame to have a scrub come on with 3.5 in the bank.

    Lads,
Stuck with Aguero, Tevez and Nasri...
im thinking of shipping Nasri for Michu or Coutinho
and maybe taking a hit to get rid of kun for ade?

    Thoughts appreciated.

Nasri didn't play the last game so my thinking is that he will play this so i'd leave him and trade Kun for Ade. I have both and thats what I am doing.

Also an opta stat: Ade has scored 5 goals in his last 6 games in May. Ups his game when looking for a new club it looks like.

    Start Luiz or Enrique?
    Any transfer needed?
Jose has more CS chance, but Luiz is likely to feature in MF role again.

    Begovic
Zabaleta - Vertonghen - Luiz or Enrique?
    Bale - Walcott - Coutinho - Mata
    RvP - Tevez - Sturridge
Bench: Robles, ? , Townsend, Pearce

      That looks fine to me.
Always the worry that Ade will do his "I can't be bothered" impression, but for some reason he seems to have been bothered somewhat in the last few weeks.
      No idea why. 😉

Yeh first time i've put him in this season, but with recent form.. could be the differential to make a little ground in the last GW. Cheers.

Most of us are in the same boat regarding our mini leagues: It's shit or bust. 🙁
Not the ideal position to be in but I'd appreciate any advice you could give me.
    My team at the moment:
    Hart (Guzan)
Mert, Azpi, Zaba (Reither, Jones-the WBA one)
    Bale, Maloney, Cazorla, Coutinho (Fellaini)
    Sturridge, Kone, Lukaku.
Did Benteke to Sturridge but need to make up 19pts on my rival and have one free transfer left.
Thinking of either Kone or Lukaku to Podolski and playing 3-4-3 or Fellaini to Lampard and playing 3-5-2.
I'm desperate and it may be showing, so thanks in advance.
    Cheers, Will

if you wanted a punt carroll? or hernandez?

chasing 19 points is tough so its gonna be make or break.

My nemesis only had one free transfer and I'm sure that he already did Benteke to Sturridge like I have done.
But he has De Gea and Federeci who won't play, and Lambert who's a doubt, so I think that he may take a 4 pt hit.
This makes it more likely that a punt would work to make up the 19 points, but Carroll sounds like a good punt.

I was going to get Coutinho in for Fellaini (no Sturridge) but now I find with Bunn and De Gea I probably won't have a goalkeeper - should I stick to the original plan or bring in a keeper (for up to 6.1)? Reina?

I would do it for Reina...I had the same dilemma and looked at Jaask and Lloris before picking Reina. I think the Reds will be up for the clean sheet on Carra's last day. Plus Zamora leading the line for QPR...

Cheers for the replies - I have a pretty big lead in my ML, it's just really dull to have a GK as your final transfer... Not sure I can justify taking out Fellaini even if it is just -2. Or maybe I'll just live a little 🙂
