Hull City boss Steve Bruce added to his forward options late last week by acquiring Danny Graham on a season-long loan deal from Sunderland. The former Swansea man is the club’s seventh signing of the summer and follows the likes of Allan McGregor, Curtis Davies, Maynor Figueroa and Ahmed Elmohamady to the KC Stadium as The Tigers prepare for life back in the Premier League.

Having fallen out of favour under Paolo Di Canio after just six months at Sunderland, Graham’s security of game time looks set for a significant increase in the season ahead. Judging by his new manager’s comments, it’s clear that Bruce – who has an option to make the deal permanent at the end of 2013/14 – is a huge fan of the 27-year-old:

So here is my strategy for the early part of the season...

I plan to go straight for the top of my league (main league). First week I plan on loading heavy with City and Chelsea and all the big boys I can get from the big teams with great opening fixtures. MCFC, Chel, Arse, Lfc etc. (most of which you will want all season anyway).

Once I am in the lead, I can spend money and take hits to ensure I get great returns each and every week. It is basically the same strategy I used two years ago when I finished my highest place and won my main league (my most important thing).

Making money this year is a biggy. I have learnt from all of you that have been playing this a lot longer than me, that, making money, and making money early is very important. I found out last year the hard way when I was actually LOSING money from getting rid of players who ended up getting bandwagons right after I did so!

So, besides liking the sound of my own voice, and boring you lot to death, my question is...

What is your strategy for this season?

I really don't care about where in the world I finish, as chances of winning are what, 1 in 3 million really? I just want to have fun AND beat all my mates and win my leagues!!!

For me its not so much about strategy but making good decisions every week. If you have the right players to begin with value will follow. I just like to use simple guidelines like picking players with good fixtures/form, don't transfer out form players, don't be too stubborn by refusing to get players because you thought they wouldn't do well etc.

Think i will WC after 8, and load up on Chels, Rags and Arsenal. That is, if I can bring myself to be filthy, and get United in.

for me I am going 433 for the first time from the off (have always previously been 343) as I think the new bonus and affordable premium options at the back can reap rewards. Eg Coleman, Nastasic, Mert and Toure as a 4 will only cost 21mil.

      That word again, "balance".

IMO, balance isn't just about picking loads of mid priced players, I'd actually say if you downgraded some defenders and upgraded your strikers the team would be more "balanced", but I dunno.

Yeah I get what you mean, but having your most expensive striker costing 9.0 doesn't really give that much flexibility if some of the really top players like Aguero or RVP are really banging them in and you have to get them in quick

Yeah something like that would cost a hit for sure, but other than those 2, I think its possible to switch relatively cheaply between other strikers.

I also had a draft with RVP in, but it weakened Silva to Mirrallas, and Zab (or my 6.0) to Nastasic (I'm not sure if he'd play from the off)

          59% goal rate last year.
Peak age 27. Not being signed for no bench.
City dont have another good out and out striker.
          He's nailed.

Aguero played 31 times in 2011-12 (starts)
Balotelli, Dzeko, Tevez altogether were 37.
Aguero behind a natural stiker works.
          Negredo is that striker.

Dzeko and Negredo will fight for the striker spot and if one of them nails it down, I personally believe they will have a very fruitfull campaign with the sort of service City has at the moment.

In spite of the popular view that Negredo will be starting, I'm not yet convinced. Dzeko is a seasoned striker in the FPL, he's done well in spite of limited oportunities and I fear he will make our guesses further more complicated.

Jovetic will basically be City's Walcott on the left, same price, but classified as a forward, which really seems like a waste to me.

If Aguero (a very unselfish player) is played behind Dzeko/Negredo, the position in which he's done best in before, I think he'll be key for City this year, although I still think the striker will still be the best buy in that case (9.5 / 7.5 so considerably cheaper and likely to score a lot of goals)

This however is just my point of view and I think the pre-season friendlies will shed a lot of light on this situation.

P.S. A word of warning for all the Silva enthusiasts at the moment though, if it turns out I'm not mistaken, this means Silva and Navas will probably fight for starts on the right wing, where Silva hasn't exactly excelled last time round. If he doesn't get to play in a central position, I don't expect anything great for him.

I have had the exact same front line since Negredo's price was announced 🙂

Personally, I don't like watching Negredo play (slow, shoots off target a lot, average passer) but his goal scoring record speaks for itself.

I'm having him as Citeh cover. Being £1.5m cheaper than Kun swung it for me...
