Just in case you missed it, we’re supporting PlayON over the new season as our weekly Premier League game of choice. Yesterday we brought you our Strategy Guide, offering some tactical approaches that worked for us last term and tomorrow we’ll be following this up with our first regular player picks article. Today, however, we’re going to examine some of the features of PlayON that you may have overlooked or missed out on whilst playing the game. Plus, we get to take an exclusive peek at the new PlayON website in development.

The Live Matchday Experience

PlayON is powered by a live feed of data from OPTA which enables them to update their points on the fly. They also provide a live feed of events as they happen – this means you can see your points tick away as tackles, goals and assists rack up. You can also see your standing in any of the games you’re playing update live and even compare your current score against any of your competitors. Take it from us, it’s addictive stuff when you’re tussling at the top for some prize money.

For a preview of a live matchday on PlayON, check out this movie.

My Club and League of Titans

We have to admit, we only investigated this feature at the very end of last season but can see clear potential in it. PlayON enables you to affiliate yourself to your favourite club, which means that from that point on, your PlayON weekly team score get added to your club’s points total. This can help your favourite club win trophies in the game when they reach certain points thresholds.

This is taken a step further with the dramatically named, “League of Titans” – which is designed to prove which club supporters know the most about football. Here the top scorer from each club is picked to represent their club in the following Gameweek – leveling the playing field between clubs with small numbers of followers and the larger clubs. Score well and you might get the chance to become the “Titan” for your club and go some way to demonstrate that your supporters have the superior football knowledge. After all, it’s scientifically proven that Fantasy Football ranking is linked to football knowledge.

Open Challenges

PlayON, like most Fantasy Football experiences, is best played with mates but, if you’re new to the game, you can immediately get involved in some one-on-one challenges by using the “Open Challenge” option. You set the number of games you want to play, the amount you wish to stake and other players will see your challenge and come and take you on.

The New PlayON

There’s a revolution on the way with a brand new site being prepared to enhance your PlayON experience. While this is being developed as this is typed, PlayON have offered us an exclusive early peek at what’s in store and you can view the development site via this link.

As you’ll see, the game is getting major facelift with a slick new design but there’s also new features on the way:

Top 5 Leaderboard
Your top five weekly scores over the PlayON season will now be collected and you’ll be ranked against other players in this new leaderboard. There will also be Top 5 Leaderboards for individual games for those setting up regular showdowns with mates.

Enhanced Live Matchdays
PlayON are adding a chat facility to the matchday console. This will fire up once the game is created during the week so you can start the banter before the first whistle blows. There will be private chatrooms for all games created on PlayON so the players involved can trade jibes while the points tally up. There will also be new matchday information tickers updating on major events in the matches and full lineup details for each match. Nice.

And there’s more…
With a new mobile site on the way and a reward system that offers players cash prizes for reaching milestones, these are exciting times for PlayON.

The PlayON Team would like to get feedback on the new site from us so if you have any suggestions for improvement or new features you would like included, add them as comments below and the PlayON Team will pick them up.

Be sure to check out our player picks article tomorrow and, if you fancy taking part this weekend, refer back to yesterday’s strategy guide for some tips to get you started.

You can play for free and Fantasy Football Scout is running a £2 multiplayer game for the community with a guaranteed £500 prize pot this weekend.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Skrtel came up in the Scout Tweets so I assume it sent people into panic. I currently have him and intend to switch him for Ashley Williams when Swansea fixtures ease and Toure gets rotated.. if he does

I see, so basically he has said Skrtel isn't injured.

We all know Rodgers doesn't favour Skrtel though and Toure started preseason.

Rodgers said Agger and Skrtel should be fit for the weekend and some people have strangely taken that as Skrtel will start over Toure. Toure is Rodger's preferred CB partner for Agger...

Who do you think is the best 5.0 non-rotating keeper. I'm currently on Vorm, I know he has tricky fixtures but when he had a good season (before last) a lot of his points came from saves as much as clean sheets.

After numerous changes, thoughts and alterations.. It seems clear to me to go for an evenly balanced team (2x expensive mids, 1x expensive forward, 2x expensive def)
Also, trying to be a little different with the strikers. Why nobody's chosong Berba???

    GK: Ben Foster

DEF: Laurent Koscielny - Branislav Ivanovic - Pablo Zabaleta

MID: James Morrison - Eden Hazard - Phillipe Coutinho - Kevin Nolan

FW: Roberto Soldado - Edin Dzeko - Dimitar Berbatov

Bench: Artur Boruc - Seamus Coleman - Craig Bellamy - Ryan Shawcross

Hey all, can anyone for certain predict the cardiff back 4? I like many on here want to pick Brayford but concerned about starting position? He never played last friendly, didn't even come on. Last seasons regular at right back Connolly played last friendly. Could choose Ben turner instead but reckon it will be caulker and Hudson at centre half ESP as Hudson is captain. Need a 4 million defender so thoughts on Brayford/Ben turner would be much appreciated. Thanks lads

Brayford is the dream choice for a 4.0

but not nailed on apparently despite manager's word

"“I am a long-time admirer of John’s and I’ve watched his career closely, he was the player of the year at Burton, Crewe and Derby. He has consistently been selected in teams of the year and, for me, he was the best right-back in Championship football last season. He is extremely attack-minded and very athletic. He is somebody who desperately wants to kick on and play at the highest level. His attitude is spot-on and will add to the squad.”

Burner will fight it out with Hudson, Cardiff's player of the season last year.

That's what I've gone for. I feel Sunderland won't have a 1st choice keeper this season anyway, they could be rotated at any time. Also having doubts over Toure. So I've just gone for the more nailed on option of Mignolet and Lewis (Cardiff 2nd choice. Low % ownership so unlikely price fall. If Marshall gets injured Lewis covers Migs poorer fixtures).

West Ham have a potential hotbed of bargains in Adrian, Collins, Morrison with Maiga, Rat and Jarvis worth monitoring, but scouring the forums, there is a mixed bag as to who will start and so on.

I'll make this one quick. Just for the short term, not looking more than 3-4 GWs.

    A) Coutinho Sturridge Dzeko (double up Liverpool, un-nailed-on Dzeko, explosiveness)
    or
    B) Silva Sturridge *a striker that hits form in GW 2/3* (coverage, flexibility, not a fan of Silva)

For the first time ever i'm considering splashing out on Cech. Surely Chelsea will have one of the strongest clean sheet records over the season with Mou back, and he's the most nailed on. Who's with me?

My head just keeps saying to go for Sturridge instead of Coutinho but cant think of any 7.5 mids worthy. Maybe Chadli?

And Di Canio is pleased with his new acquisition’s level of readiness, with Celustka already having played four Europa League qualifying games for Trabzonspor this summer.
“It’s very good,” the Italian said of the signing. “Ondrej is a versatile player who can play at either right-back or left-back.
