No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

It’s good to be back.

Eavesdrop on the conversation via this link or earwig via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Any ideas on my current mess please.

    Boruc - Mannone

    Coleman / Toure - Murner/Chester/Ramage

    Hazard / Lamps / Walcott / Miralles - Morrison

    RVP / Lukaku / Dzeko

    Lukaku > Lambert or Bent
Lamps > Snodgrass or Zaha (Or whoever else looks good)

Will leave some in the bank to upgrade Dzeko to Soldado or Sturridge

    Thanks.

    Is it better go with:

    (A) Collins & Brayford
    (B) Ward & Chester

I think B is a safer option in terms of gametime and fixture rotation.
Given Collins is fit, I think he'd do better than the others though.

Probably Dzeko. If Soton sign Osvaldo then Lambert could see his game time lessened. Whereas, Dzeko is more of a rotation risk, with great opening fixtures and Pelegrini's comments he is sure to score a few goals whether he starts or not. Finally, Berbatov will likely get most playing time, until Remy returns from injury, but to me is not the point-racking player.

Sorry not Remy but Taarabt. Judging by his attitude last year Taarabt looks like the go-for-glory and usually shoots when there are better options. To a large extent, a Berbatov playing behind Berbatov. I just see Taarabt taking shots and goals and BPs from Berbatov.

I don't know if Kolo Toure might get points at Liverpool. There back line is banged up. Wanted to get Spurs' Dawson but I'm not sure on him or Kaboul and Winston Reid will face a newly promoted team down for action. Advice?

My advice would be to get Toure. Agger should be back, and Toure is a quality defender. The only thing that's changed is Reina->Mignolet, and Mig's goalkeeping stats are marginally better anyway 🙂 Liverpool have one of the best defences in the league, and Toure is just 5.0m. No brainer.

I wouldn't bother paying 5.0m for a West Ham defender *dodges Doosra's shoe* Coleman/Dawson/Toure are the best 5.0m options. If you really don't want Toure, Coleman is my next pick (if you don't have Baines)

hard team to argue with much. personally, i'm unsure with zabaleta, just what will they do with a fit richards? brayford maybe iffy as your 4 mil back, but you already have chester. hard to nail down a definite other 4mil starter. maybe ward from palace. morrisson obviously a chancey one, but i'm going for him too.

I've joined a draft league, thanks to TW for the invite.
No clue what-so-ever what to expect and only have a vague idea of how it will work.
All the same, I'm feeling a little bit American for some reason. Might grab me some *insert stereotype*.. Buffalo wings, Tom Cruise, fried chicken, meatloaf, top of the seventh innings (?), corndogs (wtf?), perfect teeth, Stepford wives, pick-up trucks, a shameful history of wildly inappropriate foreign policy.
I feel like Coach Taylor from Friday Night Lights, only my missus is way hotter than his annoying ginger Tammy piece.

Quick note about Jerome Thomas. Most seem to be abandoning him because of his injury as he's reportedly out for two weeks. With so few options available for a 5th mid, doesn't it make sense to go ahead and bring him in now and then have him in 2 or 3 weeks? Chances are you won't even be tempted to use him until GW 3 anyway. He currently has 1.3% ownership,so it's unlikely he'll drop in value. A lot of these other 4.5 mid punts may not even play, in which case everyone will ditch them,
potentially lowering their value. As Atilla mentioned earlier, even a dropof .1 can wreak havoc with your squad.

Good point. But if you can afford an extra 0.5, Kim is a lot better pick for that slot. Should rise in price if he can keep his pre-season form.

Starting to think Lampard could be a good punt. According to my math Hazard's 190pts / 2626 minutes comes out to 7.2pts per hour. Lampard's 150pts / 1904 minutes comes out to 7.9pts per hour. Other factors include age, but for Lampard should get more minutes from Jose than Rafa, I'd guess. Any thoughts?

Of course Hazard should get more minutes than Lampard, but perhaps the minutes gap will shrink under Jose's management.

curious on this...if i am going migs 4.0 combo, does it matter what 4.0? I know none are starters, should i get one with little ownership or higher ownership? higher ownership means more NTI needed to drop in price so I should pick that one, correct or am I overthinking it? I just don't want a 4.0 gk on the bench all year to drop in price and screw me when I go to WC!!

It is based on a percentage of ownership. The people who own Davis are casuals who are more likely to sell when he doesn't play. Goalies like price are owned by people who know they won't play and won't be so quick to get rid

The number of transfers out for a price drop is proportional to ownership %. So lower ownership does not mean lower likelihood of a proce drop. If you just want a stable price, get someone who is red-flagged. They can still drop in price, but it takes far more tranfers out (x2.5).
