No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

I would only admit this to you lads in the deadzone but i am actually considering Charlie Adam.
Bruce said that they would play a more exciting brand of football!

They do not exactly have the easiest schedule however!

Just so people don't get their hopes up too much, by this time on Monday there will be many of us who are cursing the state of our teams, so called 'nailed on' players won't start, someone will pick up an injury, any 50/50 call you make will almost certainly go against you and you will be cursing the amazing left field punt your closest rival picked out of nowhere.

Saying that, I'm prepared for the frustrations to come I'm just glad the premier league and FPL is back 🙂

If Chelsea only played Hull for the opening gameweek and played Villa in GW3, how many Chelsea players would feature in your team?

    Traditionally, yes. But this DGW has a different feel to it. Almost as if it really isn't a DGW at all, with all of the rotation that will be happening among players.
    
    Is this faux DGW worth the problems down the line?
    
    Is it worth selecting players that you otherwise would never even consider?
    
    This is what baffles me. And that's coming from somebody who did a GW1 wildcard last year.

      What are you talking about? there were 4 with 3.5 of them being a success.
      
      GW1 was lucrative (CHE/RDG... Haz/Ivan/Torres/Lampard)
      GW 18ish (SUN/AVL....if you (C) Sess you were golden
      GW 22 (ARS/SOT....Theo/Podolski/Ricky Lamber all did the business_
      GW 35ish (FA cup replays....played my WC which catapulted me to 227 in the world)

Have had Boruc in goal ever since the site opened. However with Collins now being injured with a dodgy knee have realised that apart from Turner thebest 4.5s play for Southampton.

    Andy Taylor is normally the starting left back but is suspended for GW1. John is most likely to start GW1 and then revert to the bench behind Taylor.

  The 4.0m from Cardiff Burner and Brayford isn't nailed on anymore it seems.
  
  Although there are words saying Brayford who's known for his attacking ability rather than defensive, will start for Cardiff in home games and 'easier' games, while Conolly will start on harder games.
  
  If you're having Brayford as a rotating 4.0m rather than a backup benchfodder, I'd get Brayford.

      I would get Brayford if I'm planning to rotate him with another defender.
      He should be nailed on for the easier and home games - which are the games you'll be playing him anyway.

Anyone mind doing RMT - trade?
Do a RMT for my team, and post your team in the reply as well and I'll give comments on it. 😉

So here's my team

Boruc 4.0
Cole Toure Collins Murner Chester
Walcott Hazard Coutinho Mirallas Morrison
Soldado Benteke Lukaku

Some concerns for me:
1. Silva or Coutinho?
With or without Coutinho, I'll be getting Sturridge anyway in GW 2/3
With Coutinho, it would mean I will double up Liverpool. And I will bring in Dzeko too (for a hit, if he hits form, for short term punt).
With Silva, I will save myself a hit (by not getting Dzeko for City coverage) and not-doubling Liverpool.
But seems like Dzeko (and Coutinho) is more explosive than Silva, a criteria I want for a short term punt, it'll be him instead of Silva. Silva is boring.
2. Not a fan of rotating keeper, so yeah I'll stick with Boruc
3. Morrison > any defensive 4.5m. I'd rather take risk if my bench fodder is playing having a possible 0 points or 12 points rather than a consistent 1-2 points. True?
4. Would like Brayford for a 4.0, but he's not nailed on anymore is he now? So does Burner

  I always prefer a top team keeper option to last the season ( I know i choose mignolet but I think liverpool will do well this season )

    Wish I can get a top team keeper, but I'll take my chances with Boruc for now. Most probably get a better one later on the season. Too many good options up top during opening.
    
    Saw your team earlier, one of the better balanced team.
    Since you have Migno I'd rather get a 4.0.
    Nolan or Ben Arfa for a short term punt? Both have good fixtures

  Think Liverpool players are a decent pick, start with Coutinho over Silva. Downgrade Morrison if you dont plan on playing him (jedinak?) and keep the difference in the bank so when you transfer out chelsea players and Tekkers (?) you have more flexibility. Also is Collins nailed on (fitness)?

    Yeah I'm leaning towards Coutinho over Silvacurrently.
    
    It's Ravel Morrison. 4.5m from West Ham.
    
    I'll take my chances with Collins. I have an extra 0.5m to upgrade him to Rat/Reid but I think he'll play. That 0.5m could be the difference of me having enough cash to ride on early season bandwagon or miss them. 😉
    
    Good team no comment. I'm considering Dzeko instead of Bentekers too.
    
    You reckon Dzeko + 4 will outscore Benteke? Benteke is in hot form right now, but then again so is Dzeko..

      I think Dzeko will outscore Tekkers over the first 3GWs that's why I have him in. i toyed with the idea of Tekkers and 3 Chelsea players but after a lot of pondering decided to go with my first instinct which was the Bosnian.
      
      Had Reid in a lot of my drafts but decided I wanted a defender from Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and of course Chelsea to start the season.
      
      Thought you had 6.0 mil on the bench (my bad re Morrison).

        I was thinking Benteke for 1 GW and then switch him out for Dzeko in GW 2.
        Got the best of both worlds, although probably for a hit (which I don't mind), and I get to observe which will be the forward starters for City. I mean if Dzeko plays shite vs Newcastle, he may be dropped.

        True, but if he has a stink bomb there are many 7.5 options to move across to. And as I rate every Chelsea player I have (Terry, Hazard, Lukaku) to be involved against ManU game week 2, I wont have to take a hit to do it.

4. Birdman Transfer

  1. I had Coutinho until yesterday when I realized that his ownership is so high that if he doesn't perform in the opening matches a sell off could have a negative impact on my budget, so I swapped him out for Silva. Eventually I'd like to have Coutinho/Sturridge or Coutinho/Suarez.
  2. Seems reasonable.
  3. Unless he puts up a 0 every time you need him. Those 12 point days when he's on the bench will be frustrating as well.
  4. I'll wait and see on Brayford. Ben Turner does seem to be a viable £4.0m. I've got Ward as my 5th defender.
  
  Here's what I'm fairly sure I'm going with for weeks 1 & 2:
  
  Cech (Boruc)
  
  Toure—Yoshida—MTurner (Collins/Jenkinson—Ward)
  Walcott—Hazard (c)—Silva—Mirallas—Ramires
  Soldado—Benteke (JRod)
  
  Ramires to Kim, or perhaps Zaha after the DGW. Or I might hold off and do two transfers before week 3.

    On a more serious note, I think Morrison will be a super-sub for West Ham. He'll play the odd 30 minutes or so and may grab something during those period. I can see him getting a start if he keeps up his form

      Morrison should be great. I mean, he could have been in Zaha's boots this year if he hadn't acted like a stupid teenager. I just don't know where he fits in. I don't see him usurping Nolan anytime soon, Joe Cole makes too much money to ride the bench every week, but you're right, if he can make due with 15-30 minutes a match he could be an incredible value.
      
      I went with Cech over a Chelsea defender (I had Cahill "locked in" for a week or so…heh) specifically so that I don't have to deal with the situation immediately. If Boruc turns out to be nailed on, I can drop him as soon as I like. If not, I can replace Boruc for GW3. My plan is to eventually go with Boruc/Foster, or perhaps Boruc/Marshall if Cardiff turns out to be as good in defense as I think they might be. But if Mourinho works his magic on the Chelsea defense, maybe I downgrade Boruc to a £4.0m keeper after the break and rack up CS points with Cech for a while. It's flexible, which is much more than I can say for many of the other 4x DGW configurations I experimented with.
      
      As far as Jenkinson is concerned, I doubt I'll go through with it. Arsenal's defense is in shambles, I'm not sure I want to touch that situation right now. I actually just slotted in Roberge, as Sunderland's first few fixtures are pretty tame, but I'm not sure if I'll start him.
      
      I ended up going with Ramires after deciding to pull out of the Lukaku sweepstakes. I think he'll play quite a bit in both contests, and may even start both, but it occured to me that Chelsea don't need a forward to score a single goal to win both matches as they just have so much firepower elsewhere. After a brief flirtation with De Bruyne and some hesitation as to whether Mata will be worth £10.5 as a rotation risk, Ramires seemed the safest bet.
      
      I do have Kolo! I'm a Liverpool supporter so I won't be able to help but get a few in there, I'll most likely find a way to get Sturridge in the team by week 3.
