No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

It’s good to be back.

Eavesdrop on the conversation via this link or earwig via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    4MM goalies:

1 Get the most likely to play (which is who?) and hope for the best?
2 Get the least owned to avoid price drops
3 Don't worry about it as you're not going to sell them anyway so price drops are irrelevant?

If you want to avoid price drops, find a keeper that is red-flagged. The number of transfers out needed for a drop in price is proportional to the ownership %. But if a player is red flagged, it takes 2.5x as many transfers out.

    A) 4.5 M GK ( Mannone , Adrian , Marshall) + Kim. Really Want Kim ( Adrian + Kim) have them now

    B) 5 M GK (Foster , Vorm .... etc) + Morrison , Pozuelo

    Other GK Boruc

    Current draft:

    Boruc (Davis)
Terry / Toure / Mertesacker (Turner, Chester)
Hazard / Walcott / Silva / Mirallas (Kim)
    Sturridge / Soldado / Lukaku

    Concerns:
    - No playing second GK.
    - Terry. Will he get 2 games? Doubtful.

    Any suggestions for improvements? Thanks.

Yeah i would think that Ivan is more nailed than Terry so Terry>Ivan. i dont really fancy Sturridge so Sturridge>Giroud/Benteke for me.

I just have a feeling that Benteke will draw two blanks... tough fixtures. I might very well live to regret that thought, though.

I don't mind Giroud but since I have Walcott I figured that it would make sense with some Liverpool coverage this GW and going forward.

        Thanks for the input.

      Good team.

I'd take Cole over Terry though, but that's just me.

Not fancying Benteke instead of Sturridge / Soldado?
Just for the DGW and take him out, for a hit even.

I'm not convinced that Benteke will do better over those two tough fixtures than Sturridge (STO) or Soldado (cry). It's pretty much a coinflip, from my point of view, and I'd rather have Sturridge and Soldado after the GW.

    £4.5m mid dilemma.

Jedinak from Palace or R Morrision from West Ham. Need to play and a thin chance of an assist would do.

Ivanovic - will he play both games?
Michu - bad fixtures, not striker anymore.

Mannone- True, any other 4.5 alternatives? If he does not start, Boruc can come off the bench I guess
        Collins- Most likely to play
Ivan- Yup I reckon he will
Michu- Scored 2 against utd last season and 2 again Arsenal as well, hes been playing in the hole but even so he was their top scorer in the preseason
Benteke- Tough fixtures, but im willing to take the risk

A)Doubling up on the city defence, but i think it is worth it with the opening four fixtures (newcastle, hull, cardiff and stoke)
B)A poor bench (The subs play but are not likely to get me points, but is that an issue when the first 11 is there to get them for me!)

The brain transferred feelings to your gut and therefore only if you have both sets of information then you are just digesting opinions of others. Going with your gut means going with some information that you know has transferred itself from your eyes to your brain. So when you have to make a choice your gut instint will guide you to the truth.

            Yeah I have those 2.

They don't rotate well, but it's not about that. 2 seasons ago, I started with Given and Vorm and it turned out well because I played Vorm when he saved a penalty and got 11 points. They rotated horribly, but I got the rewards cause I chose the better keeper and eventually shipped Given for Krul.

Marshall and Cardiff have the best potential for clean sheets out of the promoted sides. You never know.

Yeah, no doubt Marshall has the best chance judging on their last season form. Bit risky though! I hope the $ saved went to good use! Personally leaning towards sticking with Migs. I dont really have too much faith in the whole rotation thing! (Esp for Soton & Cardiff, but thats just me 🙂 )

I would've considered Swansea defenders but them having Europa League this year is really putting me off. they've got a Europa fixture before gw 2 and gw 3.

plus pretty tough opening fixtures until the second international break

Has anyone looked into breaking the mould, and instead of a 4.5 mid etc etc, finding three/four Mids/Atts that are mid/cheap and rotate well?

I'm working on a team now, that seems really close to having promise, but I can't quite get it right yet.

We've had the uber defence, so why not the uber attack!

Generally speaking, the front seven is where we make most of our points these days, so that is where we splash the cash.

Rotation rarely plays a factor. Although if you want RVP from the off, I can see the appeal of rotating two 5m mids, but finding the right players who are nailed on in pre-season: Good luck! 😉 😀

But we can splash the cash in a different way don't you think.

If you can find three players where two of them have good potential each week, then that could lead to more points than two starters and one bench fodder.

I'm not talking about 5m players, I'm thinking those up to 7m.

      why not uber attack?

      1) most points come from attackers
      2) it's often easier to predict clean sheets than attacking returns

Snoddy & JRod are cheap enough to fall into a rotation plan though Ryan.
Add in Bent and a few others and it *might pay more dividends than the 9.5,9, 4.5m route.

4 mid priced players can rotate with one sitting out with the worst fixture. Nothing wrong with that. Its easier to have guaranteed solid mid price attackers then speculative dodgy uber attacking players.

i'd rather he got it in the pool game so that he misses the palace game everyone wants him for. plus his price will plummet over the international break. and that'll all pave the way for rooney (c) gw 4. well I was thinking about that as a differential anyways but this would make me more assured

Gents, not sure which moves, if any, I should make:

    Szczesny / Boruc
    Ivanovic / Reid / Toure / Brayford / Chester
    Coutinho / Navas / Hazard (v) / Nolan / Kim
    Dzeko / Giroud / Lukaku (c)

    2m to play with.

      You lack the Walcott

Not sure I like the Navas

Brayford -> B.Turner (both Cardiff, but B.Turner seems to be playing and Brayford not in GW1)

Consider using your money to upgrade either Cardiff player (defense or midfield or both) to Newcastle players for their run of games weeks 2 to 5

navas = big no! at least imo. have you seen his stats? very discouraging

      navas to walcott.

and i'd upgrade dzeko or giroud to soldado (or benteke if you want another dgw). or do both of those swaps even

and i'm not sure about reid at 5.0, i'd probably prefer coleman
