No thrills. Few spills. Just two men in a room talking about Fantasy Football.

Granville and I handed Jonty and the “Professor” an extended pre-season and rolled the ScoutCast back to its rawest form. Just myself and the Mancunian sharing our thoughts after a summer break and looking forward to another Fantasy campaign.

We talk double Gameweek assets, I roll out the van Persie duvet, Granville reveals more than he should about his team lineup and, around all that, we assess the early bandwagons and preview the weekend fixtures.

Forty-five minutes of two blokes talking about the stuff that’s rattling around in most of our heads right now.

It’s good to be back.

Eavesdrop on the conversation via this link or earwig via the handy player below.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So, now that Thomas is out of the picture, who is the least-rubbish 4.5 Mid?

I currently have it on Lucas due to LIV's defence and CS potential. Also, he's nailed-on to the best of my knowledge he doesn't pick up a ton of Yellows for a player in that position.

Totally uninspiring choice though - any better options?

Don't pick Lucas. You may need those Liverpool slots.

Go for Jedinak, Williams or Ravel Morrison.

    The dodgy bandwagon team

    GOAL KEEPERS
Mannone 4.5 - Many Sunderland fans believe Westwood should be their main goal keeper
Adrian 4.5 - A classic bandwagon case of 8 weeks too early

    DEFENDERS
Terry - The 0.5 saved might come back to bite if Terry is benched for a game
Toure - Liverpool will buy a new CB before the window closes. Wasted transfer
Collins - Tempting fixtures but Tomkins challenging his spot
Brayford - Might be eased into the starting lineup
Ward - Is Holloway well know for being a good defensive manager?

    MIDFIELDERS
Silva - Hardly qualifies as City 'cover'. Low goal involvement
    Oscar/Lampard - Rotation imminent
Paulinho - Tottenhams Yaya Toure, expect modest returns
HBA - Made of glass, flatters to deceive
Barkley - Won't start that often, young English player hype

    STRIKERS
Soldado - Unproven in the premier league and Spurs might yet sign another striker
Anelka - Even Lukaku couldn't keep Shane Long on the bench last season
Giroud - We all know he's pants. Yet he's still incredibly tempting, expect rotation and a new striker

Disagree re. Toure, Silva, HBA, Soldado

Toure is nailed on. He'll play, and with Agger's dodgy injury record, he'll get done in for a few more weeks to put Toure in charge for a while longer.

Silva is involved in 24% of City's goals. That's not terrible. He also played far fewer minutes last time round, and now that he's got some more creative players working with him, he's in line to produce more. Add in the more offensive, false nine type positions he's taken up for Spain, and he's been given more license to attack than ever.

HBA delivers when fit that's all that matters. He survived pre-season, came back early by three weeks for the end of the season. Ride it as long as it lasts, and it looks good to last for a while.

Soldado has a great record in Spain, a record signing, the right build for the EPL. He'll score, and he'll score a lot.

      Otherwise, true enough.

      My XI

      Mannone, Adrian
      Terry, Collins, Brayford, Parr, Lescott
      Lampard, Navas, Kagawa, Paulinho, Bellamy
Anelka, Negredo, and the ultimate of all dodgy bandwagons... Torres

All could be good, but most likely will be dodgy bandwagons that just derail and burn.

Toure - Liverpool will buy another CB

Silva - Sure he might do better this season but if last season is anything to go by, he is rather underwhelming

HBA - With Remy now in the team they might go with a 442. HBA doesn't suit such a system

Soldado - We know nothing until we see how he plays in the PL

With regard to your picks. I agree with Kagawa, Bellamy, Lescott and Negredo, but these aren't really popular bandwagons on FFS. I tried to be a little more daring 😉

Pretty settled on Vorm (5m) and Marshall (4.5). A few tid bits.

Swansea in pre-season recorded 8/9 clean sheets. Kept 7 clean sheets last season.

Marshall kept 18 clean sheets last year.

They rotate perfectly, home and away. Between them, they kept 25 clean sheets last season.

Cardiff defensively last year, are comparable to Swansea when they went up.

Finally, I know Cardiff will concede more this year, but Swansea certainly have room to improve as well and the manager seems to be emphasizing the clean sheets this season.

@9.5, the Vorm/Marshall combo is as valid a pairing as any imo.

Home/Away rotation yes. However, early matches for both are tough. You might want Boruc for the first run of games and then switch to Vorm Marshall.

Also consider that Vorm has UEFA games too

Though I like the Vorm Boruc option personally... 2nd choice to what I did in the end (Cech Boruc)

By contrast Liverpool doesn't have europa so I would expect their defence to be solid. Mignolet would be a handy fire and forget option.

Europa is hard to tell, affects some teams badly, others get on fine. I think Swansea have the squad and system to fair okay. Certainly better suited to it then the toons or stoke!

Mig's is plug and forget, but costs an extra 0.5 and if Liverpool ever have a blank for any reason or he picks up an injury, you have a headache. It's a small, but valid concern.

But he does offer good value, so hard to tell, Mig's is certainly a valid option!

I will probably fall a bit short if I don't play it GW3 but the average that week will be low and hopefully my team's value and points can make up for it if I don't end playing it. A month or so ago someone posted an analysis on WBA that basically screamed "stay away from WBA D!"

I had a link for it, but it's been misplaced... does anyone happen to have it? I want to read it again, with all the Foster love going on these days I need to remind myself why I don't want him!

      nodding...

with all the love around here, you'd think he should get the England job from Hart

I read that... can't link you but It was enough to convince me after researching what he said and nothing has chaged my opinion about that. Like my opinion about not investing in West Ham Saints or Everton this season. done

Why Everton? Coleman surely has some appeal being a possible OOP at 5.0

    Podcast yeah!

Wish i could stop tinkering, any thoughts on these few options

    A
    Boruc/ Mannone
    Collins/ Cole/ Ward/ Chester/ Coleman
    Hazard/ Coutinio/ Snodgrass/ Nolan/ Kim
    RVP/ Lambet/ Giroud

Cole to Mert and maybe Giroud to Soldado

    B
    Boruc/ CECH
    Collins/ MERTSAKER/ Ward/ Chester/ Coleman
    Hazard/ Coutinio/ Snodgrass/ Nolan/ Kim
    RVP/ Lambert/ DZEKO

    Cech to Sunderland gk
    Dzeko to Soldado maybe

I have been set on A for ages but B gives me Cech and cheeky punt on Dzeko.

    Any thoughts?

Get the West Ham and Saints out of your team.
Lambert is on the downward spiral and will not give the same returns of last year in a dire defensive soton.

Hammers will be mixing it with the newly promoted sides for survival and they play the worst football in this league__Hoof!

Get with the corrupt money program and go with the teams that have the bought in world clas players and I think you could build better. Just get in the Cardiff cheapies as a back up as they will surprise but dump the rubbish.

. Views on this team please guys. Anything missing. Was having a punt on snod as a norwich mid but I feel johnson is worth the punt for 1.5m less. Thanks

    Cech boruc

    Mertesacker toure Coleman collins Turner

    Hazard walcott mirallas johnson kim

    Rvp lukaku Rodriguez.

Maybe a little too much in defence? a couple of 4.0's give you some to upgrade Rod or Kim, up to you though, just i normally play 3 at the back all the time

Looks ok, just downgrade your 5th defender (4.5 for a 5th defender is a waste imo)

See your reasoning behind Johnson - if you were a member you could compare the two and reason if it is a good idea based on the player stats....

    Do you
    A) Have RVP
    B) Don't have RVP and no plans to get him
    C) Don't have RVP but plan to get him e.g. GW4

B, for now. It may become A before the deadline. It won't be C, it's all or nothing with him for me.

no RVP. for his price you can have two other players that will equal or better him 7/10 games and that's good enough for me. just be wise with your captaincy.

I am not sold on having any Arsenal D in my team, they always seem to leak goals in the matches you think they won't. At least this way you have a guy that might score and the safer bet for a clean shit in net.
