Monitor – Philippe Coutinho

21 August 2013 1911 comments

Heading into the home game against Stoke, Philippe Coutinho was one of the most popular picks around. Second only to Eden Hazard in terms of midfield ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the Liverpool winger was heavily backed to run riot against the Potters after a thrilling first few months on Merseyside last time round.

Unfortunately for his Fantasy owners, Coutinho returned a blank while Iago Aspas and Daniel Sturridge picked up the points after combining for the Reds’ match-winner. As we edge ever-closer to the weekend’s fixtures, we take a look back at the Brazilian’s display against Mark Hughes’ side and assess the underlying data in our first Monitor article of the new season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Lol honestly for all the people on here laughing at the Lukaku people get real. He was by far the best player in the preseason and scored more goals than either Torres or Ba last season, with not as quality service. I have no idea why Jose isn't playing him, maybe to keep player egos in check.... and what happened to using Lamps sparingly screw Jose

I am shocked Lukaku is not starting. I captained him figuring he would start and might go big in ne of these matches. Must have insulted Mourinho's daughter or something.

Jose is a conservative coach - we saw that last Sunday when Chelsea went 2 up after 25mins. Probably not surprising that he has gone with Torres and now Ba ahead of Lukaku. Lukaku is going to have to win his place on the team.

I get that, Lampard and Terry locked in show that, it's just that anyone with a TV can see Torres has lost his speed and his confidence. Lukaku was a beast in this league last year, demonstrably better than Torres and Ba last year. It's bizarre.

Probably isn't a great idea to transfer out any of the DGW players until the match is actually finished. It's tempting to be impulsive but if one of the others picks up an injury you're fudged

I have OScar and Hazard. My original plan was to swap oscar for silva for GW2.

Who should I keep? should I decide after this game or is hazard a better option anyway?

If Oscar plays in the hole today, its going to be hard to get rid of him.

Is it to much of a knee jerk to go terry/haz/lubenchu to shaw/j.cole/rvp (-8)? Made the shaw transfer last night and can make the other transfers tonight.

No chance tomorrow with expected price changes.

This of course will change if mr.bench doesn't comeback on and score a brace or better within the next few hours.
