Heading into the home game against Stoke, Philippe Coutinho was one of the most popular picks around. Second only to Eden Hazard in terms of midfield ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the Liverpool winger was heavily backed to run riot against the Potters after a thrilling first few months on Merseyside last time round.

Unfortunately for his Fantasy owners, Coutinho returned a blank while Iago Aspas and Daniel Sturridge picked up the points after combining for the Reds’ match-winner. As we edge ever-closer to the weekend’s fixtures, we take a look back at the Brazilian’s display against Mark Hughes’ side and assess the underlying data in our first Monitor article of the new season.

    No Lukaku is a strange one. I would think his season on loan last year was plenty of "trial"; he bullied the same teams last year that Torres and Ba (while with Chelsea) largely failed against last year. He is a demonstrably better striker, even as young as he is. Weird one for me. Mourinho must have a new striker in line and plans to loan Lukaku out only explanation I can come up with.

      yeah i cant see any other reason other than lukaku is going on loan somewhere again. surely he cant be considered by mourinho to be worse than BA. it hought ba would be sold even!

      Lukaku, Hazard OUT. Soldado, Nolan/Miralles In -4 to start. Then just bench one of Anelka/Downing and play Chester and your team is decent for next gw. Then take it from there.

    Okay, have narrowed it down to Lambert and Bony. My head says Lambert, better fixtures and proven to score goals but really considering Bony, fixtures aren't as good but seems like a bit of a beast and had two good chances to score against United after coming on and finished one of them very well. Really could do with some opinions 🙂

    My other forwards are Dzeko and Giroud. I have 1.5 in the bank.

    Leaning towards Soldado, Lambert or Wolfy.
    Perhaps Sturridge or Jelavic.

    Im planning to WC in GW4 so looking for a short term goal scorer and price riser.
