Heading into the home game against Stoke, Philippe Coutinho was one of the most popular picks around. Second only to Eden Hazard in terms of midfield ownership in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), the Liverpool winger was heavily backed to run riot against the Potters after a thrilling first few months on Merseyside last time round.

Unfortunately for his Fantasy owners, Coutinho returned a blank while Iago Aspas and Daniel Sturridge picked up the points after combining for the Reds’ match-winner. As we edge ever-closer to the weekend’s fixtures, we take a look back at the Brazilian’s display against Mark Hughes’ side and assess the underlying data in our first Monitor article of the new season.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

    37m for 5 midfielders?

    Who do you pick?!

Lukaku, well that's a kick in the balls, seeing as my rival has also captained Lampard. Best Lukaku owners can hope for is a tight 0-0 or Villa to take the lead and for him to come on about the 60th or 70th minute. I'm not hopeful though.

The Barkley bandwagon is gathering pace with a second rise imminent. The door looks open for Evertons next game and most likely GW3 to. Gibson probably won't be risked, there's no need especially if Barkley is doing a good job. This kid could be 5.0 in a few weeks, maybe more.

Giroud, vs. fulham ... you'd hope he'd a bag a goal or two

yep. really is annoying Wiz. they were miles apart in watching their pre-season on ChelseaTV. No just in goals returns. the young lad looks much the sharper. Ba just looked very ordinary and the talk his off to Roma, very believeable, so comes as an annoyance as much as a surprise.

don't think it matters TOO much who plays up top when we play our big 3 behind them, as we are tonight...

even if majorty of you harshing me i will still offer you some great advices over the season

1 ) never trust scout team news-they are wrong all the time (i tracked them last year and very rarely they predicted correct lineup)

    2) Never listen what majorty says and always go with your gut

    3) Stop copying other people team

4 )do not jump at every badwagon

    5) spot differential before everyone get him in (HBA for next gw)

    6) Professional football player is well capable of playing 3 matches in 8 days no matter how old he is

      2) It's fine to take advice but in the end you make your own decisions.

      No.6 true but how true.

Be warned Morinho may move to 4-3-3 with Lukaku up front against united.

He won't want to play a high line in any case, so whether he begins 4-2-3-1 or not he'll end 4-3-3 if he gets the lead.

Torees to start 4-2-3-1 Lukaku to come on as sub 4-3-3 seems the most likely scenario.

For all lukaku owners. Dont feel two bad about picking him. Anybody in there right mind wouldn't of thought torres was in the frame to start last week. So that left two strikers in him and ba. With the pre season lukaku had it was very fair to presume he would get the nod over ba. Add in the double game week it was a gamble worth taking.

This time the gamble back fired badly but the next time it could pay of big time!
