Another strong Villa display. Another Christian Benteke goal. This time, however, Paul Lambert’s blossoming side fall short as Branislav Ivanovic is allowed to stay on the pitch to nod home Chelsea’s winner.

The Game Changer

Arguably, referee Kevin Friend was the most influential individual on show. There’s also a strong case for Christian Benteke who struck his third goal of the season and has now scored nine league goals in his last 10 outings. Branislav Ivanovic’s goal proved the difference, however, and rewarded those who invested their double Gameweek funds whilst underlining the goal threat previously on show in Saturday’s win over Hull.

Friend’s decision to brandish a yellow for Ivanovic’s lashing out on Benteke was undoubtedly the turning point. It allowed the Serbian to demonstrate his ability at set-plays as, just minutes later, he headed home Frank Lampard’s dead ball delivery.

Ivanovic was the only Chelsea defender denied Fantasy Premier League (FPL) bonus points from the Hull victory. Despite escaping a red card and being left for dead by Gabby Agbonlahor for Villa’s goal, Ivanovic looks set to earn bonus to make him Chelsea’s top scoring double Gameweek asset.

The Underused

While Benteke will earn huge investment following another goal and effective display, those who are struggling to stretch their funds to the Belgian will be eyeing the impact of Gabby Agbonlahor. So impressive during Villa’s run at the end of last season, he has started the new campaign in stunning form and yet claims less than 2% FPL ownership.

Instrumental in the victory at the Emirates, it was his turn of pace and delivery that set up Benteke for his equaliser. Agbonlahor has scored five goals and earned four assists in his last ten league outings.

The Selection Poser

It’s hardly a poser. Jose Mourinho’s decision to start with Demba Ba and leave Romelu Lukaku shackled on the bench disappointed Fantasy managers and Chelsea fans alike. His introduction for the ineffective Ba on 65 minutes provided little consolation. Lukaku played fewer minutes than any other Chelsea striker in the double Gameweek, having looked primed to start the campaign following a convincing pre-season.

Mourinho’s reluctance to hand Lukaku a central role on the Premier League stage is a puzzle. Perhaps he will start at Old Trafford on Monday and face a defence which he terrified on the final day of last season at the Hawthorns. It’s unlikely to make a difference – Lukaku’s ownership and price look set to slide.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Would anyone get Dzeko over Lambert if they already have Silva in the team?? Dzeko's lack of assured 90 minutes scares me...

I've come to realize that this transfer really doesn't matter, nor is it productive.

The -4 hit will likely come back to you in the form of a City CS versus a Chelsea non-CS.

However, you're better off just sticking with Ivan to ensure those 4 points, rather than gamble with them.

Ivan has just as much, if not more attacking threat than Zab, so that is no advantage to transfer Zab in, either.

I doubt he will be a great fantasy player. He isn't a goal scorer and that was when he was playing in weaker leagues.

He is awesome in real footballing sense but I dont see him as some one who will get too many FPL points, and definitely not more than Walcott.

Hazard didn't do enough in the DGW to convince me to play him against United. With a blank after that, I feel Nolan will perform much better in the two GWs.

I will be transferring a Chelsea midfielder back in around GW 4-5, once I figure out which ones are sure starters.

Lampard looks Better Value for now. But he won't play as much as Hazard in coming days, thats for sure! If you don't have Lampsy, better don't get him in.

Hazard is getting better. I m almost sure he'll be returning attacking points against United.

Maybe, but JM seems to love Lampard and he seems fit. I don't doubt that over the course of the season Hazard will comfortably outscore him, but for now, I like the flexibility Lampard gives me. It was Mirallas/Lampard or Hazard/Lallana/Sissoko/Taarabt. I really like Mirallas so I feel okay.

2 week punt replacing Lukaku before I go to Tekkers:
    a) Dzeko
    b) Wolf
    c) Cisse

I have Studge and Soldado as other strikers and already have SIlva as City cover. Given uncertainty over Dzeko and form of Newcastle I am actually leaning towards the wolf.

    Thoughts appreciated??

probably will return along with Mr. Leroy Fer this week to service RVW and the returning Mr. Hooper quite well

How are they all going to fit in the team, the Canary midfield/strikers could be a mare with Elmander there too.

Snod and Redmond on the flanks with RvW and Hooper up top for more firepower.

Fer and B Johnson in central midfield.

      Hazard to Coutinho (or Silva)

Ivan looks like he's actually going to go up in value thanks to casuals who see his big score and don't look ahead far enough to see a GW3 blank (Ivan is the #1 scoring defender now)

doubling up on Man City def with both Zabs & Lescott especially since both Nasty and Kompany are out injured at the moment.

Depends on whereelse it is weakening your team. But given the fixtures, not a bad plan.

Nasty on the mend, would be a 1 or 2 week play at best. If a WC is in your plans next few weeks I say go for it

It's a direct swap with ivanovic. Probably going to swap lescott out after gw3 when ivanovic is back in play. Just planning to ride on Man City incoming run of good fixtures with Silva in the mix. Still wary of their front 6 rotation though!

If you plan on bring Ivan straight back in for Lescott after the international break it is a great idea, go for it.

Just be aware you are banking on one of Kompany & Nasty for being available for GW3 as Lescott is 3rd choice CB. How long is Kompany supposedly out for?

Daily Fail is reporting it as a month out but we never know! I would also be banking on Ivanovic price not rising by 0.1 if not I couldn't get him back. lol

I do have Luke Shaw as my backup defender so I'm not too worried for GW3 if lescott drop back to 3rd choice

Firstly what a great position you are in with those 3 up top, well done to you.

I have Soldado only from that lot and he will be get the armband. If I had Benteke he would get it, home game, great form and all that, looks a no brainer to me

Damn you and your 1 point lead over me Forca! Silva could do well, but equally 4/5 other Citeh players could rob him of pts. If the Toon do anything it will probably be HBA or Cisse getting the points. That said you have to go for Manchester City vs 2 promoted opponents.
