With goals a premium from Saturday’s matches, we roll into Sunday with high expectations. Today’s fixtures certainly give us room for optimism.

Proceedings get underway shortly at the Hawthorns and Anfield, where West Brom go in search of their first goal of the season against a Swansea side still looking to get a first point on the board. Alongside that affair, we’ve the small matter of Liverpool’s clash with United – a match that hosts an array of Fantasy talent, not least Robin van Persie, adorning the captain’s armband for many.

Later today, we’re treated to the North London derby. A clash which rarely disappoints when it comes to goals and incidents. It’s fair to say that we’re expecting fireworks again, as Arsenal attempt to keep momentum after the win at Fulham, while Andre Villas-Boas’ side arrive at the Emriates with a 100% record and without a league goal conceded.

The team news from the early kick-offs is in and is as follows:

Liverpool make just one change to the side that edged past Villa in Gameweek 2. Kolo Toure’s failure to recover from a groin injury sustained in midweek allows Martin Skrtel to partner Daniel Agger in central defence as the Reds attempt to register their third successive shut-out of the season.

For United, Wayne Rooney is absent with a head wound – David Moyes has confirmed he will be sidelined “for a few weeks” with the injury. The United boss brings in Ryan Giggs and Ashley Young on the flanks and drops Antonio Valencia to the bench – Giggs’ inclusion looks set to see Danny Welbeck moved centrally once again after he was shifted to the flank to accommodate Rooney’s return against Chelsea last Monday.

Michael Laudrup hands Wilfried Bony his first Premier league start at the Hawthorns. Jonathan de Guzman drops out in the only change from the side that lost at Spurs last weekend –Bony, Ashley Williams and Jonjo Shelvey all recover from the knocks that kept them out of midweek Europa League action, with the Ivorian’s inclusion allowing Michu to return to his preferred role in “the hole”.

Steve Clarke makes three alterations for the hosts. Boaz Myhill replaces the injured Ben Foster between the sticks, Nicolas Anelka is back after being granted compassionate leave last week, while Scott Sinclair is handed his first league start for the Baggies against his old club – Graham Dorrans and Markus Rosenberg are the men to drop out.

Our Dugout Discussion chatroom is now accepting vistors for the early kick-off and will remain open until the final kick at the Emirates.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Spurs' midfield got overwhelmed and offered little to Soldado up top.

It was glaringly obvious that this Spurs group have not played together for very long. Arsenal was ripping us apart on the counter with quick & incisive one-touch passing. Spurs, on the other hand, had every player dribbling or pausing to look around for 2-3 seconds before just about every pass. It’s easy to defend when you have that much time to read the game.

Spurs need more time together & things should get much better. Also, the creative spark that will hopefully come from Eriksen/Holtby was sorely missed.

They have good fixtures coming up but I always thought they were very fortunate against Palace in the opener. Rode that luck into GW2 with another penalty.

They have good defensive mids, I guess Lamela and Ericksen will add to their creativity.

FPL is getting very interesting this year. Bale gone, RVP a bit too expensive and the big hitters not performing in midfield. Added to this the extra value in defenders and it means new strategies could be the way forward.

4-3-3 is a viable option now with 4 big hitters in defence (or 3 and a Coleman type figure), along with 3 big hitters in midfield alongside two budget options for the bench. You can do this and still have enough money for a 3x9.0 frontline which has a plethora of juicy options.

The dust has settled on the new season and now is the time to decide which route to take. RVP or not is the biggest question, and to some extent what happens in tomorrows deals could sway it one way or another.

In the last couple of years I've become more and more convinced of the gw3 wildcard strategy. So I've played my wildcard, despite this weekend being good for me and concerns of slower rises this year. My reasons are as follows:

1.) By paying close attention to price changes, I can probably make about 1.5m of pure cash, which will be invaluable throughout the rest of the season. Even with the slow price hikes, I reckon there'll be about 10 double risers and I'm also able to prevent losing about 0.5m on players dropping.

2.) There's been a lot of information in the last 3 weeks and although there are no obvious bargains, I definitely can massively improve my team with the WC. Plus there may well be team-affecting news in the last 24 hours of the window.

3.) The wildcard allows me to get RvP and Walcott, who I don't currently own, and I think will be two of the best players to own in the next 8 weeks or so. Meanwhile, I can get rid of my deadwood.

You can argue that the slower price changes have reduced the impact of post GW3 wildcard but I also think that if you play your wildcard at any other time, it will be very hard to get as many double risers, as in a double week, there is just enough added time to get a few more double rises.

    Who else is wildcarding?

that's about how I saw it too. Lot's of other people WCing will speed up the price rises as well, and don't forget the other bonus is the ability to transfer out any late-showing international injuries . . . I did WC this time last yea too, and there was never another week I would have preferred to have used it

If there are ten double risers, which I doubt, then you'll only make 0.5m unless you plan to keep them all.

I do think it's a good time to wildcard though due to points 2 and 3.

I am thinking to field in 5 defenders next week which gives me this team

    Boruc
    Zab, Coleman, Mert, Reither, Ivan
    Walcott, Brady
    Lamb, Benteke, Giroud

    subs: Miralas, Nolan, R Morrison

Miralas is out of form and Nolan doesnt score in away matches.

Lot will change once Internationals are played.

    What do you think guys

    Benteke OR Sturridge?

Answer with 'both' and you will be ignored, I want to do Snod + Aguero --->Lampard + ? for free without losing RVP and Lambert who I am keeping faith in. Rest of the team is below:

Such a close call for me in form, fixs, potential. For me it would come down to assists, where Tekkers has clear greater potential, so him. And I write this as a Studge fan and owner, non-Tekkets owner.

Been pondering Ricky to Tekkers this GW, but think I probably keep faith, and FT.

To include Giroud, he's third for me, think Arsene will pull biggish striker out of bag tomorrow, which may hurt Giroud games.

Last night I almost hit the transfers to bring Benteke in. Now I am having second thoughts, apart from the Sturridge didn't really do much today... Must be weak will on my part to have second thoughts now Giroud and Sturridge scored today

Better to keep faith is class assets coming good over a 5-6 week run, or you could be chasing yesterday's form man all season. Still, easy to write, harder to implement.

            Good luck.

Gut instinct is Benteke. I have Giroud, Sturridge and Soldado and It's Benteke I'm scared of next week, not RVP.

Don't think there's a stand out option to change him to so will probably stick. Might roll the ft over yet.

This. But I kept the free transfer last week too . . . Thinking of losing Cout and / or Mirallas but it looks like I'll make one boring defensive transfer and keep the transfers rolling until someone emerges.
