Last week we updated the Fantasy Football Scout โHall of Fameโ or โHoFโ. You can access this via the HOF tab at the top of the site or via this page.
The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues โ both the free and the members league. In a nutshell it tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a โHoF ratingโ accordingly.
The โHoF Ratingโ is based on points scores from previous FPL campaigns, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous year. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/13 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The โHoF Ratingโ even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allocate managers a rank alongside the veterans of the FPL. Itโs not a guaranteed way of identifying the best FPL managers in the Fantasy Football Scout Leagues, but we think itโs pretty good at identifying those who have displayed good consistency.
We generate two separate tables in the Hall of Fame. The “Career” table that updates every year and a “Live” table that will be updated using the latest season data, after every Gameweek. Everyone can see the “Career” table via the link but Fantasy Football Scout members also get to see a live table via the Members Area which inludes current 2013/14 points totals in the table and takes these into account when calculating the HoF rating. This can be more than a little bit helpful and reassuring in that, using the team ids in the table, you can examine the squads and transfer activity of some of the top FPL managers.
For example, Career Hall of Fame leader, Ulrik Nylund is clearly a hugely successful FPL boss, having masterminded three top 200 finishes in six seasons. Indeed, Ulrik is yet to finish outside of the top 8000 in any of those seasons โ an incredible level consistency. Interestingly, however, heโs currently sitting on 179 points and is ranked just inside the top 300,000. Having said that, his wildcard is currently active, perhaps reflecting his start to the campaign.
If you want to get yourself in the Hall of Fame, simply sign up to our leagues, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League (1580-1106), or if youโre a member, the Members Classic League โ the code is available on the dashboard of the Members Area. You will be entered and visible on the table once the next Gameweek deadline passes and FPL leagues are updated.
For more information on how the Hall of Fame works, view the movie below in which I talk through the tables with its creator, “Professor” Chris Atkinson.
