Last week we updated the Fantasy Football Scout “Hall of Fame” or “HoF”. You can access this via the HOF tab at the top of the site or via this page.

The Hall of Fame is a ranking system which we apply to everyone in our Fantasy Premier League (FPL) mini-leagues – both the free and the members league. In a nutshell it tracks the performances of every manager over each of the seasons they have participated and awards a “HoF rating” accordingly.

The “HoF Rating” is based on points scores from previous FPL campaigns, with the latest season weighted the heaviest and each corresponding season weighted at roughly 80% that of the previous year. So, in other words, those who performed best in 2013/13 will receive a bigger HoF Rating boost from those who did best in 2006/07. The “HoF Rating” even allows for those with missing years, adapting the formula accordingly to allocate managers a rank alongside the veterans of the FPL. It’s not a guaranteed way of identifying the best FPL managers in the Fantasy Football Scout Leagues, but we think it’s pretty good at identifying those who have displayed good consistency.

We generate two separate tables in the Hall of Fame. The “Career” table that updates every year and a “Live” table that will be updated using the latest season data, after every Gameweek. Everyone can see the “Career” table via the link but Fantasy Football Scout members also get to see a live table via the Members Area which inludes current 2013/14 points totals in the table and takes these into account when calculating the HoF rating. This can be more than a little bit helpful and reassuring in that, using the team ids in the table, you can examine the squads and transfer activity of some of the top FPL managers.

For example, Career Hall of Fame leader, Ulrik Nylund is clearly a hugely successful FPL boss, having masterminded three top 200 finishes in six seasons. Indeed, Ulrik is yet to finish outside of the top 8000 in any of those seasons – an incredible level consistency. Interestingly, however, he’s currently sitting on 179 points and is ranked just inside the top 300,000. Having said that, his wildcard is currently active, perhaps reflecting his start to the campaign.

If you want to get yourself in the Hall of Fame, simply sign up to our leagues, either the Fantasy Football Scout Classic League (1580-1106), or if you’re a member, the Members Classic League – the code is available on the dashboard of the Members Area. You will be entered and visible on the table once the next Gameweek deadline passes and FPL leagues are updated.

For more information on how the Hall of Fame works, view the movie below in which I talk through the tables with its creator, “Professor” Chris Atkinson.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Ooh! While I am at the top of the page:

    Current Team:

    Boruc (Lewis)

    Shaw - Coleman - Hangeland - (Whittaker/Collins)

Nolan - Walcott - Barkley - Silva (Kasami)

    Giroud - RVP - Aguero

Planning on changing, over the next 3-4 weeks to:

    Szczesny (Boruc)

    Shaw - Coleman - Enrique - (Whittaker/Collins)

Nolan - Walcott - Barkley - Silva (Redmond)

    Giroud - RVP - Lukaku

    So the transfers will be:

    Kasami > Redmond GW4
    Aguero > Lukaku GW5
    Lewis > Chesney GW5
    Hangeland > Enrique GW6

    Thoughts?

Having a slow start this season. And saved my wc. What am i doing? Playing completely different than last season.

Nope. I have a sneaky feeling him having an unusually decent amount of gametime plus inexplicably being out on free kicks which he failed miserably at had a little something to do with him signing a massive contract shortly afterward. He'll be back on the bench in no time

You could be right but when you pay 15m for a defender you would think he starts ,
Sahko Became the odd man out at PsG because of the brazilians although I think he had at least 20+ starts rotating with Alex ,
I'm fairly sure BR gave him assurances of Gametime.

Great point but I think it is probably more likely to be Enrique head on the block. Two left sided cb's would not be a very balanced partnership so I would not be 100% sure toure will get dropped.

Ps managers rarely promise game time to players when signing them as they have to pick on form. The guy moved as he probably got a huge wage rise and thought he was good enough to nail down a first team spot.

Why is two left-footed CBs a problem, but two right-footed CBs not a problem?

He left to get game time ahead of the World Cup as him not playing recently for PSG has seen him fade from the national team's radar. I doubt he's on much higher wages at Liverpool than he was at PSG though.

Two right footed is also a problem berbs.

Since he came through the youth ranks at psg I'd say his wages were pretty poor but only a guess.

Right sided players struggle to tackle with their left foot and vice versa making it easier for players to run at them and they also struggle to effect clearances with their poorer foot so it is more difficult to cover the fb and effect clearances. Its all relative ofc but most managers prefer a balanced partnership although you can get away with it if one of the defenders is relatively two footed.

True. I suppose the higher the standard of player the less likely they will be so predominantly one-footed. Sakho is also young so could easily develop into a more two-footed player if not already. They would also have better positional awareness etc being more talented than the norm, so their foot becomes less of an issue.

In drafting games do you take turns picking players?

For FPL and without a bidding process, the first player could just pick RVP!!

In the American Football Draft they give the worst team the first pick, so there is sometimes a benefit if you're having a terrible season to make sure you have the worst season by losing the most games. You can also trade your pick in each round to get earlier picks or end up with 2 or 3 first round picks instead of 1.

1st pick in draft usually not great as you get last pick in 2nd round. Team winds up being imbalanced.

And chances are, if you were bad enough to get the first pick, you're not good at drafting.

They can trade the first pick as it's the most valuable and end up with more early round picks plus future early picks, http://walterfootball.com/draftchart.php Or take the best player in the position they need the most. A really good quarterback can make a significant difference.

Use the Rank Players tab and queue up 80 to 100 players. You'll want to be more prepared for the later rounds. That's where people destroy their teams with bad picks.

Now you're getting complicated. Most of the folks entering this draft have never done a draft league before. Give them another year or two to get to auctions.

Though, it would be comical to watch people blow their money bidding up strikers and then having no money left for any of the other slots.

England looked too old and too slow at the World Cup in South Africa. Can't imagine thinking it will be better this time. Shouldn't be starting anyone over 30. Time to bench Lampard, Gerrard, Terry & Cole.

Nothing's wrong with it. You look handsome with that thing in your eye. But, erm, for the World Cup, if you actually want a chance at winning it, probably a good idea to play a team that won't get run off the pitch. The way they're managed, they'll be knocked out in the group stage, and with that, Rooney's prime will have officially been wasted on the national squad. There's a real lack of bravery in the team's management.

Must you bring up the Head Butt Cup? I was living in France when that happened. Never seen so many people trying to pretend something didn't just happen while simultaneously making excuses for it in my life.

            ***

I like Lampard and Gerrard. Do you really think they belong, or could be, on that list? I don't. Best chance was the Head Butt Cup before Rooney stepped on Ronaldo's private bits.

The problem is these old players you mention are still mainstays in their club team who spend millions bringing in young foreign players who can't oust them from these club teams.

Cashley, gerro and lamps would get in most international teams even the top ones.

WC team keeps changing, but currently:

    Mignolet - Boruc
    Zabaleta - Walker - Coleman - Collins - Chester
    Hazard - Hernandez - HBA - Walcott - JWP
    Benteke - Soldado - Sturridge

Tossing up between Walker and Vidic. Thoughts?

Not nailed on for 90 but I think he'll play 65-75 mins every week. Henderson/Aspas as impact subs

Unless sahko is relatively two footed he'll get horribly exposed when pushing over to cover gj when he is attacking. I don't know how left footed he is but if he is poor on his right then I can see serious problems for pool if they go down this route. More likely to be eased into the new team possibly at lb and then maybe take over from agger when he is sold to barca next summer.

      Really?

When we play the big teams and teams that like to pass (Swansea next week) I'm sure Henderson will play over Moses to sure up the midfield?

Tough away games like that then yes Hendo. Still think Moses will play more. Plus Luis is still out for Swans so I expect Hendo RM and Moses LM.
