Having cast an eye over the Defenders yesterday, we roll out the second in a three-part members series with a look at midfielders. Assessing the key attacking statistics, we analyse the chief creators and major goal threats over the first three Gameweeks of the season.
Keep Wally for now. We'll see what all these new signings do over the next couple of weeks.

Shameless repost.
Mirallas -> Brady
or
Coutinho -> Hernandez
Gotta finance Dzeko to Benteke move.Open ControlsMorning all 🙂
Open ControlsMorning Torres.
Extremely quite tonight it seems..Open ControlsHey TM 🙂
Open ControlsHey RCA 🙂
Open ControlsI have a cold. It may turn into man-flu tomorrow morning.
Duvet-day incoming!Open ControlsStrange, no one in the US knows the 'man flu' expression
Open ControlsEither that or the old female classic "it's that time of month"
What time of month?
That time of the month where I'm expecting to take an 8-point hit in my fantasy EPL team to sort out my injury woes.
Ah fair enough son ... have the day off!Open Controls
A) Ozil + Giroud
B) Walcott + Giroud
C) Ozil + Walcott
D) All 3?Open ControlsEto injured
Torres anyone?Open Controlswhats this Lampard love about? seen him in lot of teams here lately.
with the CL starting in a few weeks i don't think any CHE attacker will be nailed on right?Open Controls+1 I'm regretting keeping Hazard over the international break.
Open ControlsI love Lamp but you've got a point. I just love him in there scoring me points at a great price but will he play? No one knows. I'll keep him though. He'll play in the league most games and be left out of Champions League.
Open Controls
Sry repost...thoughts on this WC team? 0.5 in bank aswell
Mignolet
Walker Shaw Collins
Walcott Brady Lampard Yaya
RVP Benteke Lambert
Camp Whittingham Chester TurnerOpen ControlsHow does this look, one or two punts in there though.
Boruc, (Marshall)
Vidic, Zab, Sakho, (Collins), (Chester)
Walcott, Lampard, Lamela, Brady, (Hernandez)
Benteke, Sturridge, Giroud
.4 itb?Open ControlsFeel free to express your inner United passion, but I don't think that Vidic is worth having. Man U had the least clean sheets out of the teams with predominantly premium price defenders last year, and as we've seen, the boost in defender scoring and bonus has been directly linked to clean sheets.
Also, how do you think Tottenham will line up in midfield? There's a decent chance that Eriksen will play in a better role (FPL-wise) than Lamela, and being 1m cheaper, I'd be looking at him first...but that's just my opinion.
I wouldn't go for Lampard (or any other Chelsea attacker for that matter) because none are nailed on.
Other than that though it's a very nice looking team.Open Controls
Lampard or Yaya?
Open ControlsProbably will have Frankie L in my WC, Osc

Cimrman is a fictional character that was set to win a somewhat recent contest for the greatest Czech to ever live before the contest organizers removed him on the account of him not being real, so they say.

What's the best back 4 for the WC as it stands? Between Germany, Spain & Brazil for me.
Open ControlsIf Spain win another major tourney ( 4 in a row!) It will be the greatest ever achievement in football history, imo.
Open ControlsCan't see Spain winning again. All European teams will struggle imo. There's 4 very strong South American teams - brazil, argentina, uruguay and colombia. I fancy Argentina to win it, Colombia dark horses
Open ControlsGermany & Spain will do very well, imo. Brazil & Argentina are both very strong, agreed.
Open Controls
A back 4 that includes Mascherono cant be considered
Open ControlsThe Belgium team is extremely talented but won't win it. Would be great to see mind you.
Open ControlsDeutschland will get this one. Every now and then they win when least expected.
Open ControlsPoor enough defence, can't consider them big challengers with that side myself.
Mind you, some good young talent there.Open Controls
Seeing as Spain still have a fantastic side and seeing as they are the most experienced at winning then they are my hot favorites to win in Rio. And be crowned the greatest side of all time.
Open Controls
Trigg, you tempted by Nani for the WC?
Open ControlsHe dosent fit the structure of my midfield
gone 9 9 5 5 4.5Open ControlsBut as have Van Persie captain and Evra think i got enough united coverage
Open ControlsWho are your premium spots? Walcott & ____ ?
Open ControlsCurrently Lamela
Took Soldado out and bought him instead , if he proves no good will change to Michu in a few weeksOpen ControlsSame with me. The last remaining issue in the front 3 is Sturridge's fitness. Parm pointed out Liverpool's fixtures once Suarez returns so that could be a key consideration as well...
Open ControlsThink longterm Michu and Walcott will be hard to beat
Open ControlsI found front three easy
Giroud Van Persie Benteke
Willing to go without Liverpool coverage until Suarez comes bck
If RVP fails might bring Sturridge back for him , or wait for SuarezOpen ControlsIf Sturridge is healthy, I'd rather go with him over Giroud, his form & fixtures are hard to ignore. RvP & Suarez up front destroys the rest of the team, but there is so much potential between those two.
Open ControlsI probably gone bigger in defence than you have , will have 4 premium defenders
Metz going to drop to 5.4 before the weeks out and will make money selling hernandez and toure , so can afford a few of the cheaper premium typesOpen Controls
I have Mignolet and Marshall as gk. I am thinking about going to a 4.0 gk to get an extra .5. How many others do that? I don't like having a backup gk who doesn't play, but I am thinking that I will rarely play whoever the backup is.
Open Controlsuntil he gets injured
Open Controls
Things are so quiet I may have a tinker and come back with a RMT in the mo...
Open Controls~35 minutes till breaking bad, I am playing with my WC team too 🙂
Open Controlshave been a bit dissapointed with last couple of episodes , not much action
Open ControlsWatched Season 3 episode 10 tonight (so still catching up)
It was the one with the fly "contaminant" in the lab, lol.Open ControlsHaha, seems SO far away now! Season 3 is EPIC
Open Controls
Come on Manning , get me 40 points tonight
Open ControlsMerts or Kosc? Can't see any edge over one another...
Open ControlsI have 1.6 itb but am unsure where to invest
Migs | Daniels
Terry | Zab | Coleman | Collins | Chester
Walcott | HBA | Lampard | P.Hernandez | Brady
Benteke | Soldado | Sturridge
Who would you upgrade with my leftover wonga?Open ControlsSoldado > Rooney perhaps?
Open Controls
Ok what about this?
Mignolet - Boruc
Vidic - Coleman - Zabaletta - Chambers - Chester
Walcott - Barkley - Coutinho - Brady - Lamela
Sturridge - Benteke - Giroud
What do you think?Open ControlsYou will be rotating Migs and Boruc?
Michu or Silva look better options than Coutinho. You're going with LIV fixtures.
I'm monitoring Lamela but neeed to see some evidence first regarding consistency.
Chambers might loose his spot?
Other than that you've got everything covered and well balanced team.Open ControlsWell chambers may as well be any other 4 mil def to be honest. Yeah I like Liverpools fixtures and reckon Coutinho is as likely to score well as Silva or Michu TBH. Cheers
Open ControlsGo for Ward from Crystal Palace as your other 4.0 defender. If you could squeeze a bit more cash somewhere then I'd try to get Collins, but oh well. I've already let it be known that I don't think too much of United's defence, so if you were to get anyone I would suggest Evra because he usually gets strong attacking returns and the most time out of all of the defenders over the course of a season.
It is definitely a major punt going for both Lamela and Coutinho, but it could pay off, and besides, there aren't any other expensive midfielders putting their hands up. I think Walcott will fire very soon and be the highest scoring midfielder for the year by a decent margin. I also like that you've swapped Soldado for Giroud, I think Giroud has turned a corner and should be taken much more seriously this season.
Overall 8/10Open Controls
The LOTR trilogy will take you all the way through to Thursday!
Open Controls
Dropping Sturridge for Giroud on WC but keeping 2m itb to do Soldado to Suarez gw6 ? Is this a reasonable plan?
Open ControlsIs having Migs, Coutinho and Sturridge too much Liverpool?
Open Controlsso much easier to form the team in the ucl fantasy....
I got a good team with messi and ronaldo in...Open ControlsSo many quality players, that's the reason.
But to play fixtures and get the right player to hit form, that's the key.Open Controls
Lets see how long I settle on this WC team!
Mignolet Steer
Vidic Walker Ward Riether Mertesacker
Walcott Michu Lamela Brady Ward-Prowse
Giroud Sturridge BentekeOpen ControlsVery good, well balanced team.
However, question marks on Brady & JWP. Do they rotate perfectly? JWP is exciting and promising but his place is not guaranteed, and i'm not too sure about Brady starting every week for you. Maybe downgrade Walker/Riether to upgrade Brady to the likes of Nolan or HBA.Open ControlsI'm playing 4-3-3 with Brady occasionally stepping in if he has a good fixture and if one of my defenders is playing a top four team away.
Open ControlsAh, now i see. Riether & Ward rotation. Not convinced with Riether's CS prospect, and why Jol subbed him off early last game? Still quality, proven player and may get 100 FPL points again. Consider Winston Reid, Coloccini & Wilson (if he's nailed on) at that price too. But overall your team is good to go.
Open ControlsI'm thinking about keeping Riether until GW10 and then swap him for Willams from Swansea
Open Controls
And Ward-Prowse is bench fodder
Open Controls
And my final question of the night...
How nailed on is Fellani?Open ControlsWhat's everyone's thoughts on how Liverpool and Tottenham will line up now they have all of their new players? Do you think Sakho, Eriksen, Chiriches, Lamela and Moses will all get starts in GW4?
Open Controlsonly ones nailed on out of that lot imo would be sakho eriksen and lamela
Open Controls•Spurs: (*with capoue being injured)
Lloris
Walker Dawson Vertonghen Rose
Dembele Sandro*
Lamela Erikson Chaldi
Soldado
•Pool: (*assuming Johnson is out)
Mignolet
Wisdom* Agger Toure? Enrique
Gerrard Lucas
Moses Coutinho Aspas
Sturridge
pure opinions but thats what I thinkOpen Controls
What's the deal with Ward? Why does it was seem like everyone is talking about him this week
Open ControlsThey are? Might be cos of the new RB signing, but Palace fans reckon it won't affect him
Open ControlsAmiga. How's the team you were compiling?
Open ControlsEpicFail's Missus DZ Team
Mignolet (Lewis)
Coleman Chester Mert Vidic (Gabbidon)
Özil Lampard Brady (Sess Jedi)
Giroud RVP(C) Bony

Looks pretty eh?
One decision we need to make - start Sess or ChesterOpen ControlsI'd take Sess. on his debut against Sunderland. Reckon Cardiff have a good shot at getting a goal. Hull not that proven at the back yet and Cardiff look good in attack.
Open Controls*deb against Fulham.
Open ControlsFair dues.
You make me nervous about playing Chezzy in my team too amiga 😆Open ControlsWhy so? Arsenal will do well at the back this year I think. Showing a bit more grit
Open ControlsIndeed even more so with Arteta back I suspect.
Got Chezzy, Collins and Coleman this week, not even expecting 1 CS from that lot. Also 2.8 and 1 FT, you reckon i should upgrade Murner?Open ControlsI don't remember the rest of you back line, fill me in on the last one?
Open ControlsI also think it will be good to go into next game week with some cash. Have 2.5 myself. Could be better spent then, especially with an extra xfer
Open ControlsThanks amiga, you're only the best
Mig
Coleman Chezzy Collins
Silva Walc Snoddy Lamps
Soldado Studge Benteke
Bank 2.8
1 FT
Subs - Davis Kim Murner WardOpen ControlsExactly that's my thinking too. Did Ivano > Collins for a hit in gw3 to get some flexibility for new bandwagons. Thinking what's the point in losing that flexibility by upgrading again.
By Gw5, we could have some more info on the new signings (Sakho / Lukaku , etc) and Rooney could be back in the mix tooOpen ControlsZab. is a good investment I think. You do have players in mid with which you could free up some dosh if you need it. Zab if you want to buy this week
Open ControlsNot the ideal fixtures in the short term is it? sto MUN
Agreed though its a long term investmentOpen ControlsExactly. Eriksen is another on that list. Who will play for Chels? Etc, etc
Open ControlsI would save until next week. You'll be rubbing your hands if you do 🙂
Open Controls😆 CAM spots are all up for grabs
Hard to predict with that much quality, which is why Lamps makes a lot of sense. he's quite an upgrade to MvG and Jose lurvves himOpen ControlsThat's why you rule Amiga

Just looking at a list of touted managers to replace Trappatoni as Ireland manager; Roy Keane, Chris Houghton, Martin O'Neill(the favourite it seems) and Mick McCarthy 🙁 Can't wait
Open ControlsNever really understood why Martin O Neil gets so much respect. He has done very little as a manager.
Open ControlsMartin O'Neill wouldn't know how to attack a prime rib steak
Open Controlsbit harsh on marty oneill there mate.. 3 league cup final appearances with leicester city winning 2 of them.. 3 league titles 3 scottish cups and a league cup including a treble with celtic are achievements not to be scoffed at
Open ControlsAcheivements with Celtic don't count as they are gimmes. I will give him his acheivements with Leicester in a competition few people care about
Open ControlsI acknowledge his success but in recent years he has looked to me like someone who has lost touch with modern epl game
Open Controlsshould never have taken that sunderland job they are a bad lot.. didnt do himself any favours
Open ControlsMaybe the Ireland job is just the thing for him. Certainly needs to prove something before he can be taken seriously again
Open Controlsbut why should Ireland take him seriously then?
Open ControlsCountries like Ireland, Scotland etc always struggle to get the real top end managers. Maybe someone with a reputation to rebuild is a good option for them?
Open ControlsRebuilding and improved coaching for our better players at youth level. Build from the ground up and have a manager who is hired for the process. We don't have any top prem. players anymore.
Open ControlsWe all need to do that. It takes more than a few top players Scotland have more premier league players now than I can remember for a long time including a good goal scorer yet I cant see them qualifying for anything anytime soon. Ireland always seem to be a sum greater than their parts. Wish you best of luck.
Open Controls
fair to say trappatoni had quite a reputation too lol.. can only work with what u have if i was o neill id stay right away from it..
Open ControlsYeah, everybody loves Martin.
Open Controls
I think the home championships were very good for the British teams. Schedule is too busy for them now but I think those games were good them.
Open Controls
maybe he shouldn't but they were abysmal in attack and he couldn't do anything about it. They had nothing
