With the mind-numbing international break out of the way, all eyes turn to the Premier League to assess whether any of the glittering new signings are worth a gamble on their debuts. Fantasy managers have so much to anticipate in Gameweek 4 – not least the damage that Robin van Perise can do in the early kick-off. Let’s cast an eye over Paddy Power’s assessment of the Dutchman, this week’s other likely scorers and the clean sheet hunt.

According to the traders in Power Tower, United are all set to rip into Crystal Palace. There are four of David Moyes’ squad in the top ten anytime scorers, including new boy Marouane Fellaini who is 11/8 to earn a debut goal.

Not surprisingly, it’s Van Persie who tops the list, however. With three goals for Holland over the break, he now has 18 strikes in his last 21 games for club and country and is 1/2 with Paddy to deliver the goods against Ian Holloway’s troops. Not good news for the Van Persie naysayers.

Roberto Soldado is the nearest rival to the United marksman and a player who will doubtless be carrying many an armband going into the White Hart Lane clash with Norwich. The Spaniard now has five goals in seven games for club and country since signing for Spurs. Soldado is 4/6 to score at anytime against the Canaries with Paddy.

Chelsea signing Samuel Eto’o is closer to a pension than puberty, but the Cameroonian striker is the most likely player to find the back of the net at any time in Chelsea’s clash with Everton. He can be backed at 15/8 to score a goal on his debut for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Frank Lampard scored twice on Merseyside in the corresponding fixture last season and has a goal, an assist and two clean sheets to his name already in this campaign. He’s at 23/10 with Paddy to notch in the Goodison clash – Theo Walcott, at 6/4 to score at Sunderland, is the only midfielder more fancied over the weekend fixtures. Paddy are refunding all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on this match should Lampard notch.

Clean Sheet Odds – Gameweek 4

Just as Van Persie and Soldado dominate in the anytime scorer listing, it’s United and Spurs who rank top in the clean sheet odds. Paddy Power has David Moyes’ side at 8/11 to keep out newly promoted Palace, while Spurs are evens to rack up their third clean sheet of the season.

Despite the sizeable banana skin of a Britannia clash and the absence of Vincent Kompany in the back four, City are also well fancied here, with Arsenal not far behind as they look to shut-out Paolo Di Canio’s Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

Goal-shy West Brom are the only side in the top flight not to score this season and face a testing trip to Craven Cottage. Fulham beat the Baggies 3-0 in this fixture last season and are 7/4 to keep a shut-out with Paddy Power. Martin Jol’s side are in the mix with Aston Villa and Liverpool, with Hull City and Southampton offering budget and mid-price options. The Tigers are 17/10 for a clean sheet at home to Cardiff, while the Saints are 11/8 with Paddy for a shut-out against Big Sam’s Hammers at St Mary’s.

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

    Rate the FFS Friday Frenzy.

    There are 30 posts per page and I'm assuming (conservatively) that there are 8 RMTs per page, especially as it was an international break and people went crazy.

    Weekend Team News ; 9 pages ; 72 RMTs
    Stephen Ireland Article ; 8 pages ; 64 RMTs
    Playon Article ; 17 pages ; 136 RMTs
    Sky Game Focus ; 26 pages ; 208 RMTs
    Scout Picks ; 27 pages ; 216 RMTs
    Paddy Power ; 27 pages ; 216 RMTs

    That is 912 RMTs today.. 😯

    Or do you reckon I've underestimated and there have been 1,000? 😆

    Berba is on 84% to drop on TFPL & is 106% to drop on Fiso. I want to bring him in for Dzeko (for a hit) but if he is set to drop i'll wait until after price changes. If it looks likely he drop tomorrow night though, it also puts the move in doubt.

    Recent events has caused me to seriously consider a late impromtu WC.

    I have made some early transfers already for the cost of an 8pt hit.

    Dzeko -> RVP
    Mirrallas -> HBA
    JRod -> Bent

    However both Bent and Mertisacker are now out leaving me with all sorts of injury problems/rotation concerns

    Mignolet, Lewis
    Chester, Murner(tot), CLYNE, COLEMAN, MERTISACKER
    Walcott, Coutinho, Ben Arfa, SNODGRASS, BARKLEY
    RVP, Soldado, BENT

    The fact that I have 6 doubtful players in capitals and that I'm already 8pts down is causing a serious rethink as to whether I push the button even at this late hour. Thoughts?

    Who to start,

    JWP (WHM), Hernandez (LIV) or Coleman (CHE)?

    And who is best to bring in on a WC, Walker or Vidic? Currently on Vidic.

    I think that after voting the captains poll should put the choices in order of popularity. Me stupid, me need something like that.

    In other news, anyone else playing 3 Southampton players this week? I'm double-downing on their defence keeping a clean sheet against the ravaged Hammers' attack. Wise, or should I split the difference and play Szczesny in goal (despite hoping the gooners lose...)?

        I'm thinking of double Soton def, but Boruc has burned me twice in a row, while Migs got all the points. I want to go with Boruc, Swansea away will be tough, but the bench points are bumming me out.

    Hello guys, been busy for exams for the past 2 weeks. Totally lost track what's happening in the FPL world now.
    I am thinking to take a hit for Dzeko->Benteke and Mirallas to Brady. Surely Brady is the best choice under 6m?
    Thoughts? 🙂

      Walcott, Fpl proven player with Ozil and Cazorla feeding

      Considering keeping though Paulinho/Coutinho candidates to replace him for the next few gameweeks. Would be a -4 to bring in Paulinho or Coutinho. Both would put some $ in my bank and you have to think Silva is basically out for two gameweeks as he won't get much from the Manchester United game even if he does feature.

      It's a lot of money to have on the bench, but the targets not already in my team are all uncertain. I may miss out on a haul, but more likely I won't be able to cover the -4. It means playing Coleman and possibly having Ravel Morrisson come off my bench for +1, so I'm not feeling good about it. I may change my mind before the deadline.

    With Ward looking like he might be out, I'm feeling nervous about having no United players. Mariappa may replace him (he played RB many times for Watford) or they could do what they did last season and drop Dikgacoi to RB. Either way, it ain't looking good, as Moxey's defence has already looked suspect as it is. So which United midfielder would be best to have? I'm eyeing off Nani. So many times in the past I'm sure I've seen players do well right after signing significant contract extensions. Thoughts?
