With the mind-numbing international break out of the way, all eyes turn to the Premier League to assess whether any of the glittering new signings are worth a gamble on their debuts. Fantasy managers have so much to anticipate in Gameweek 4 – not least the damage that Robin van Perise can do in the early kick-off. Let’s cast an eye over Paddy Power’s assessment of the Dutchman, this week’s other likely scorers and the clean sheet hunt.

According to the traders in Power Tower, United are all set to rip into Crystal Palace. There are four of David Moyes’ squad in the top ten anytime scorers, including new boy Marouane Fellaini who is 11/8 to earn a debut goal.

Not surprisingly, it’s Van Persie who tops the list, however. With three goals for Holland over the break, he now has 18 strikes in his last 21 games for club and country and is 1/2 with Paddy to deliver the goods against Ian Holloway’s troops. Not good news for the Van Persie naysayers.

Roberto Soldado is the nearest rival to the United marksman and a player who will doubtless be carrying many an armband going into the White Hart Lane clash with Norwich. The Spaniard now has five goals in seven games for club and country since signing for Spurs. Soldado is 4/6 to score at anytime against the Canaries with Paddy.

Chelsea signing Samuel Eto’o is closer to a pension than puberty, but the Cameroonian striker is the most likely player to find the back of the net at any time in Chelsea’s clash with Everton. He can be backed at 15/8 to score a goal on his debut for Jose Mourinho’s side.

Frank Lampard scored twice on Merseyside in the corresponding fixture last season and has a goal, an assist and two clean sheets to his name already in this campaign. He’s at 23/10 with Paddy to notch in the Goodison clash – Theo Walcott, at 6/4 to score at Sunderland, is the only midfielder more fancied over the weekend fixtures. Paddy are refunding all losing first/last goalscorer, correct score and scorecast singles on this match should Lampard notch.

Clean Sheet Odds – Gameweek 4

Just as Van Persie and Soldado dominate in the anytime scorer listing, it’s United and Spurs who rank top in the clean sheet odds. Paddy Power has David Moyes’ side at 8/11 to keep out newly promoted Palace, while Spurs are evens to rack up their third clean sheet of the season.

Despite the sizeable banana skin of a Britannia clash and the absence of Vincent Kompany in the back four, City are also well fancied here, with Arsenal not far behind as they look to shut-out Paolo Di Canio’s Black Cats at the Stadium of Light.

Goal-shy West Brom are the only side in the top flight not to score this season and face a testing trip to Craven Cottage. Fulham beat the Baggies 3-0 in this fixture last season and are 7/4 to keep a shut-out with Paddy Power. Martin Jol’s side are in the mix with Aston Villa and Liverpool, with Hull City and Southampton offering budget and mid-price options. The Tigers are 17/10 for a clean sheet at home to Cardiff, while the Saints are 11/8 with Paddy for a shut-out against Big Sam’s Hammers at St Mary’s.

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Personally I'd pick Toure. Liverpool are on form. Where as City have defensive problems due to injuries and look a lot weaker. Also a lot of previous fixtures ended 1-1 between Stoke and City

Is it worth downgrading both my backups (Brady Boruc) for scrubs (Delph Lewis) to go from Dawson to Walker? (On WC) I'm a new-ish player, what is the accepted strategy?

Okay my WCT before pressers and news from the last 2 days was:

    Mignolet - Boruc
    Luiz - Vidic - Mertesacker - Turner - Chester
    Ozil - Lampard - Eriksen - Pablo - Brady
    Sturridge - Giroud - Negredo

Obviously FPL has Mertesacker, Ozil and Sturridge as doubts.

Has any other news come out that I should be wary of regarding the above?

Fellow WCers, in case you are still struggling and still afraid of RVP:

    Migs
    Walker, Vidic, Nastasic, Kosc
    Walcott, Michu, Coutinho
    Giroud, Soldado, Benteke

    4.0, Livermore, JWP, Chester

There. You have it. 4-3-3 with every single line being extremely strong. Pretty much everyone is as secure as it can get. Bench is decent considering what you have in the starting 11, you have a regular 2-3 point mid, you have a cheap def with a chance for some CS in the upcoming gws, you have a punt mid if you feel like he will start. All the "expensive defs will fail" critics can remain silent (your mids are as explosive as possible and you have 3 of them) and you can bring in pretty much everyone.... bar rvp. If you want to go for a 3-4-3 with a mid price mid that is emerging it wont take you more than 2 transfers.

Am I scared of RVP with this team? Hell no.
    Are you?

Mirrors almost exactly what I said earlier. I am actually going 5-2-3 with Coutinho on the bench. RVP destroys your team and is not going to score more than last year and is more expensive with a new manager and poor support at the moment.

It's mainly about RVP(C), the other two are relatively low cost punts because Silva is out, and Coleman is played Chelsea / doubtful after international duty.

I'm planning to WC anytime up to GW8, so I'm in a position to punt.

Yeah I figured it was all about the RVP and yeah if youre gonna wildcard it's not too bad but I don't think it's worth a 4pt hit. Also City dont have great fixtures either and Morrison isn't getting game time

Believe me I've agonized over the Morrison one, have been convinced by Back to Back Ballacks that he's coming in. Downing and Cole are now both out and Allardyce said previously that he's impressed with Morrison's attitude and that's he's only an injury or suspension away from a start.

City's next 4 are sto MUN avl EVE
Everton's next 4 are CHE whm NEW mci

I reckon City will get more CS in that spell personally, and am quite a believer in Kolarov's attacking potential from free kicks/crosses.

Put it another way, in Everton's next 4 I only see two fixtures I'd consider playing Coleman (whm NEW) and even then not with great confidence in a CS.

For Kolarov I'd definitely want to play him for sto avl EVE.

Yeah Evertons upcoming fixtures are pretty bad but it's kinda like out of the frying pan into the fire with city playing utd, a very attacking Villa with benteke and a very attacking everton (who will also have lukaku at this stage)

Fair enough though but I still don't think it's worth a hit. At the end of the day though, it always comes down to one thing - to RVP or not RVP

What value should I put on one more week's data by saving a transfer and using my bench?

The thinking is to have 2FT next week and a better feel for who will start for each team and who is in form.

The downside is a week using all my subs: Kim, B Turner and M Turner (already playing Chester of M Turner)

Alternatively I get rid of Silva or Bent or both this week. If Sturridge starts then MT stays on the bench.

What does everyone think? (Apologies to Aqua who saw this before!)

    A. Ben Arfa
    B. Nani

You should have Soldado & Coutinho. And then GW7 swap Coutinho for Michu

Can't get both Coutinho and Soldado in unless I downgrade to a £4.0 keeper. It is tempting to do that though.

Ben Arfa, I;ve just got rid of Sturridge with my bench being so weak I didn't want to take the chance.

Wish Newcastle didn't have the look of a car-crash-in-waiting team, otherwise I'd be more confident in BArfa. Being on pens certainly a sweetener though.

one of Lamela/Eriksen not sure which one as of yet. was going to to Silva > Lamela/Erik next week. unfortunately the Silva injury has forced me to make a move now.

Now i am either going Michu or Hernandez

    Mignolet (Steer)
    Vidic, Koscielny, Shaw (Chester, Ward)
    Walcott, Coutinho, Hernandez, Brady (Delph)
    RVP (c), Soldado (vc), Benteke

    1. Should I bench Brady and start Chester instead?
    2. Any better alternatives to Hernandez (budget £6.1)?
    3. Any improvements you could see?

Get a Palace one as he'll rotate with Chester. Moxey, because apparently Ward is injured (read it on Palace fans forums)

    B) Oscar and Hernandez and boost my defense (very budget defense right now)
    C) Lampard and Nolan
    D) Lampard and Herndanez and really boost my defense

Just listened to the BR pressie, I think it is highly highly likely he will start. If the reds get ahead he may be pulled of early, that is probably your only issue.

    Boruc (Mignolet)

    I am on a WC

    Mig / Boruc

    Collins Zab Chambers Dawson Enrique

    Wally Yaya JWP Hernandez Brady

    RVP Campbell Giroud

I have 1.6m in the bank. Thinking about getting chambers out for someone like Gibbs maybe or upsizing hernandez for a newcastle mid. Thoughts?

Don't like the Campbell punt. Don't think Yaya is worth it either. And Dawson is a bit of a rotation threat but if your not worried about his place then stick

Just some possible moves that you could consider:

      Enrique to Sakho,
Boruc to a 4.0 allowing you to upgrade Chambers who may soon lose his place.
      Yaya to Lampard

That would allow you to upgrade Campbell to Bent and then perhaps Lukaku next week. Just an extra opinion

OK DZ....need a little help tonight!

Who to start Mignolet or Harper???? If i swap Silva > Michu Since McGregor is a doubt. Is it madness to start Hull keeper Harper vs CAR instead of Mignolet vs swa? ..... If Harper does not start, then Mignolet will auto sub? If i do not get Michu is it still madness

Starting a relegation favourite goalkeeper against the leading goalkeeper in FPL against a Swansea side still not gel-ing. I think you are made.

Cardiff also managed to put 3 past Man City so I think they might manage 1 against Hull at least.
