With the Defenders and Midfielders already assessed, we move to the men up front and analyse the options over the next four to five Gameweeks. Once again, the recent refresh is available in your sidebar – read on for more details on the factors behind our thinking:

While Wayne Rooney has momentum and Robin van Persie is still battling to justify his lofty Fantasy price tag, we remain resolute in our backing of the Dutchman’s potential to score heavily in the coming weeks. On the spot against Palace last time out, Van Persie’s partnership with Rooney looks highly profitable over a kind run of Old Trafford encounters with West Brom, Southampton and Stoke all due in Manchester before Gameweek 9. Rooney clearly has the potential to topple his strike partner if he can maintain form – his 10.5 price tag is on the rise and a drop in Van Persie’s stock and ownership would seem inevitable should Rooney outscore the Dutchman in Sunday’s derby clash.

Aside from Rooney, there are clear pretenders to the top ranking position, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud now fully established as an outstanding prospect. Still priced kindly at 9.0 in the FPL, the Frenchman’s goal-a-game record thus far could well be maintained when Stoke pay visit to the Emirates this weekend. Certainly, Giroud should continue to be handed a steady supply of service from midfield and it is perhaps only that midfield talent that detracts from his current appeal as a Fantasy acquisition. With Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil such temptations, is Giroud as essential as his points tally and price suggest? Given that Arsenal are one of the few sides who look to have established some attacking fluidity, it’s perhaps wise to stock up with Gunners’ assets at this moment in time, while the likes of City and Chelsea settle and Luis Suarez is back installed in the Liverpool system.

Suarez’s arrival in Gamweeek 6, coupled with the injury to Philippe Coutinho, casts some renewed doubt over Daniel Sturridge’s potential but there’s no denying his form right now. Four goals in as many games speaks volumes and has earned Sturridge an army of new owners in the last seven days. We’ll be watching for the impact of Suarez’s return, however, and the fact that the Uruguayan already sits in our rankings, despite being banned this weekend, indicates just how influential he could be on our thinking in the coming weeks.

Roberto Soldado and Christian Benteke are perhaps unfortunate to drop outside the top five, particularly in the Belgian’s case. While Soldado is yet to register a goal from open play, Benteke has four strikes to his name and continues to cement a reputation as a “fixture proof” asset. That status will be put to the test in forthcoming home encounters with City and Spurs. As for Soldado, he has three home games in four to come after the weekend trip to Wales and that should give him the platform to re-establish his Fantasy stock, having suffered sales in recent weeks. His price point, plus the emergence of Chritstian Eriksen and the potential offered by Erik Lamela, are factors that dent his appeal, however.

If you must delve into the mid-price up front, then Everton’s loan signing Romelu Lukaku nudges above Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, despite the fact he’s yet to kick a ball for the Toffees. Lukaku’s 17 goals at West Brom last season suggest that he has the weapons to convert a ready supply from Everton’s flanks and from Ross Barkley’s promptings in midfield.

Outside of the listed rankings, Cardiff’s Frazier Campbell remains the top budget pick on offer, with Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle, armed with spot-kicks, offering the alternative. Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is perhaps worth monitoring, however – he’s dropped to 5.8 in the FPL but regained his starting role for the Saints in the 0-0 with West Ham. In the short-term, meanwhile, Everton’s Steven Naismith can be acquired for just 4.8 and looks set to retain his start for the trip to Upton Park on Saturday having netted the winner against Chelsea.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

No because sturridge will still play up top I think and Suarez will in fact help him get even more chances. I am a City fan, and I am trying my hardest to go Rag free this year. No and no. Thanks pal.

How early did you get Barkley in? If you've caught all his rises, then keep for now. If not, I'd get a 4.5m. When would you rest anyone else (unless you're worried about Lampard rotation)?

Squeezing out that little extra cash may make all the difference at some point.

Excellent, thoughtful response. I actually missed all of his rises and got him in for future rises (assuming he goes up to 5.5/6 at some point). I see your point and I may just look to get a 4.5 in now before bed.

Thoughts? JWP? Morrison was my original pick actually before I made the cash to get such a squad.

Not for me. Lfc home and Chels home against lesser teams, regardless of form.

Michu away and against what will be a fresh, vibrant CPL, and he just played in Spain yesterday.

Future maybe, but i'd rather go Enrique and Lamps, instead. Thanks though

Now Thomas, one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Robin van Persie came. So the other disciples told him, “We have seen Robin van Persie!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Robin van Persie came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!”. Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

Then Robin van Persie told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”

Surprised to see sturridge still a bit unloved in terms of captaincy. I'm a Southampton fan and captaining him (not looking forward to the game!)

Last game before the return of Suarez. Surely if he scores he will confirm his central role, if not, Suarez will be knocking on the door to push him out wide. We all know sturridge loves the centre.

Plus, 4 goals in 4, despite a niggle wish is gone now. Yes Southampton have looked solid but against some unambitious sides. As a fan who watches every game on TV (get them all here in HK) I can confirm we haven't hit our stride. Looked better last season.

Walcott is likely to outscore ozil. Most of the great things ozil did involved setting up Walcott for goals (which he missed)

If that wastefulness changes it results in a lot of assists for ozil, but, importantly, goals for Walcott!

          C) Marc Wilson - does his place depend on Palacios?

I don't think either could be considered nailed on.

BTurner's probably safer. I don't see who Wilson easily replaces in defence if Palacious does take the mid spot.

I think that's the problem, he won't. He was Pulis' trusted man at LB, but the arrival of Pieters has made him second choice. CHeers.

BTW remind me, boing boing is something Baggies fans say all the time - are you one? Do you know if Lee Camp might have a chance of covering for Foster? Really thinking of cheekily getting him as my 4.0.

                Yep worried Baggies fan 🙂

Camp was bought on a short contract until Foster's return, but I think he's cover for Myhill. Personally I'd rather see Camp given a chance - I don't rate Myhill.

Ah was suspecting that, I see Myhill has been starting. Myhill has been conceding though, wonder if anywhere down the line he might let Camp in.

No other 4.0 keepers worth getting anyway!

I'm quite partial to the Baggies as I was born in Birmingham so they are kind of a local team, and I rate Steve Clarke. I enjoyed following you guys as a kind of second team last season and was at the 2-1 home win over Chelsea 🙂

Myhill always concedes, but he continues to be our back up for Foster...

I'm just hoping Sess gives us that spark we need to get scoring. If we lose this weekend I'm very concerned.

            Burner is more nailed on
            Wilson has higher upside

            Risk reward......

How do the rest of your defenders rotate? Is it your 5th defender? If so then bank the 0.5 and take Burner!

They're reasonably priced and fill in the gaps.
Nolan could be going next week though for Ramsey, unless I dare to remove Benteke for Rooney, I'm undecided.

              Crazy stuff.

My apologies for saying soccer by the way. Let's hope it won't become a habit. 😉

Calling it a US college football match would have been somewhat confusing.

I know, but it feels so wrong saying soccer. 😕

i had the captaincy on giroud all week, but now i'm getting a feeling about walcott. the only thing that's swinging it in giroud's favor is that he's on pens since arteta/podolski are both out. so basically,
          giroud or walcott for captain?

Have both and Giroud for me. Pen duty makes the difference.

I wish I could have held on to him and may reacquire down the road. But I can't have that much cabbage sitting on the bench hurt.

He has proven to be a pretty poor fantasy option at the price.
