With the Defenders and Midfielders already assessed, we move to the men up front and analyse the options over the next four to five Gameweeks. Once again, the recent refresh is available in your sidebar – read on for more details on the factors behind our thinking:

While Wayne Rooney has momentum and Robin van Persie is still battling to justify his lofty Fantasy price tag, we remain resolute in our backing of the Dutchman’s potential to score heavily in the coming weeks. On the spot against Palace last time out, Van Persie’s partnership with Rooney looks highly profitable over a kind run of Old Trafford encounters with West Brom, Southampton and Stoke all due in Manchester before Gameweek 9. Rooney clearly has the potential to topple his strike partner if he can maintain form – his 10.5 price tag is on the rise and a drop in Van Persie’s stock and ownership would seem inevitable should Rooney outscore the Dutchman in Sunday’s derby clash.

Aside from Rooney, there are clear pretenders to the top ranking position, with Arsenal’s Olivier Giroud now fully established as an outstanding prospect. Still priced kindly at 9.0 in the FPL, the Frenchman’s goal-a-game record thus far could well be maintained when Stoke pay visit to the Emirates this weekend. Certainly, Giroud should continue to be handed a steady supply of service from midfield and it is perhaps only that midfield talent that detracts from his current appeal as a Fantasy acquisition. With Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil such temptations, is Giroud as essential as his points tally and price suggest? Given that Arsenal are one of the few sides who look to have established some attacking fluidity, it’s perhaps wise to stock up with Gunners’ assets at this moment in time, while the likes of City and Chelsea settle and Luis Suarez is back installed in the Liverpool system.

Suarez’s arrival in Gamweeek 6, coupled with the injury to Philippe Coutinho, casts some renewed doubt over Daniel Sturridge’s potential but there’s no denying his form right now. Four goals in as many games speaks volumes and has earned Sturridge an army of new owners in the last seven days. We’ll be watching for the impact of Suarez’s return, however, and the fact that the Uruguayan already sits in our rankings, despite being banned this weekend, indicates just how influential he could be on our thinking in the coming weeks.

Roberto Soldado and Christian Benteke are perhaps unfortunate to drop outside the top five, particularly in the Belgian’s case. While Soldado is yet to register a goal from open play, Benteke has four strikes to his name and continues to cement a reputation as a “fixture proof” asset. That status will be put to the test in forthcoming home encounters with City and Spurs. As for Soldado, he has three home games in four to come after the weekend trip to Wales and that should give him the platform to re-establish his Fantasy stock, having suffered sales in recent weeks. His price point, plus the emergence of Chritstian Eriksen and the potential offered by Erik Lamela, are factors that dent his appeal, however.

If you must delve into the mid-price up front, then Everton’s loan signing Romelu Lukaku nudges above Southampton’s Rickie Lambert, despite the fact he’s yet to kick a ball for the Toffees. Lukaku’s 17 goals at West Brom last season suggest that he has the weapons to convert a ready supply from Everton’s flanks and from Ross Barkley’s promptings in midfield.

Outside of the listed rankings, Cardiff’s Frazier Campbell remains the top budget pick on offer, with Crystal Palace’s Dwight Gayle, armed with spot-kicks, offering the alternative. Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez is perhaps worth monitoring, however – he’s dropped to 5.8 in the FPL but regained his starting role for the Saints in the 0-0 with West Ham. In the short-term, meanwhile, Everton’s Steven Naismith can be acquired for just 4.8 and looks set to retain his start for the trip to Upton Park on Saturday having netted the winner against Chelsea.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Hmmmm stuck with Hernandez and Brady, 1 FT and nowt in the bank (so can't afford Moses seeing as I can only sell Pablo for 6.1) Any ideas gents? Not keen on wasting a FT on getting some other 5 mill mid and not sure who else is worth it...

I have a quandary about who to bench from my front 8 and would appreciate any advice. They all have good games!

    Walcott, Ramsay, Moses, HBA, Eriksen
    Giroud, Sturridge, Soldado

Also not sure which def to play:

Vidic, Zabaleta, M Turner (others are Coleman and Collins)

Currently leaning towards Zabaleta but bookies odds seem to favour Murner.

I'd bench Eriksen or Soldado myself. Cardiff away will be a tough game, much tougher that Norwich at home and I think they'll struggle so I wouldnt double up there.
Walcott, Ramsey and HBA pick themselves as do Sturridge and Giroud.

1 FT, 0.2 in the bank. Any suggestions/should I keep my free transfer?

    GK: Mignolet (Harper)
DEF: Vidic, Shaw, Koscielny (Chester) (Baker)
MID: Walcott, Lampard, HBA, Brady** (Ward-Prowse)
    ATT: RvP, Soldado, Giroud

I have basically resigned myself to the fact that my defense is unlikely to shine this week.
Also, I understand that Brady is a doubt, it's just that I don't really see the need for a sideways transfer to get him out just for a possible knock. If he doesn't play, who should I have as first sub, since, as a Newcastle fan, I'm picking Chester (generally my first sub) to suffer heavily.

    Other suggestions?

The referee was very lenient, and the centre backs were very physical. He was battling 2 players on his own all night. Still showed god control and movement. Didn't really have any chances, no fault of his own.

That Mourinho interview linked in the scout tweets is absolutely fascinating. He gives away so much tactical information it almost makes me think he must be lying.

    On Mata:

“There are things I cannot speak with you about. It’s part of a process with him, too. One thing is to play with Ramires and Oscar in the side, them closing each side, and Mata as a No. 10 behind the striker, clever assists and clever passes, fantastic actions because he has great talent.

“Another thing is to adapt to the way we want to play. In this moment, Oscar is my No. 10 and, if somebody tells me that Oscar is not Chelsea’s best player since the beginning of the season, I’d have to disagree. These are football issues.”

When asked whether Mata must dislodge Brazil international Oscar at present, Mourinho said: “Yes.”

    On Oscar's position:

He added: “They can [play together], when he adapts to it. But I’m not ready to play Oscar following full-backs, because he plays in that position for the country with more talented players than anyone else in the world in that position. I want to build with Oscar as my No. 10. I want the other two players, from the side, to adapt to that reality and learn now to do things that they were not ready to do before.”

    On parking the bus:

Meanwhile, Mourinho has surprisingly stated that he would not choose to utilise Inter Milan’s famous approach against Barcelona again.

In the 2009-10 Champions League semi-final, the Italian side withdrew to an extreme degree, blocking out Barca in order to win 3-2 on aggregate and go on to become European champions.

“You need an adaptation, not only psychologically but also physically. If you sit there deep in a low block, with no spaces, you can be there three hours. I went with Inter to Barcelona and, for 60 minutes, we played with ten men and if we needed to be there longer we'd have played for another 60 minutes. I don't want my team to play like that.”

    http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1559038/chelsea-boss-jose-mourinho-says-juan-mata-faces-battle-place?cc=5739

Added to his recent form and goals from open play, I am seriously considering Oscar now. Sounds integral to Mourinho's plans and Mourinho sounds determined to build a team that plays attacking football.

Ah yeah, "from the side" sounds like that.

As for what he wants them to do, it sounds like defensive work actually given the example he gave of people playing in the side.

Same. I can only assume that the problem is not the position but the role. He wants Mata to do "new things" he didn't do on the right last season. No laughing at the back there.

Seriously maybe it's stuff like tracking back, crossing, dribbling, basically Hazard stuff.

Well Hazard hasn't been the same player he was last season either!

I'm not sure why he's gone for Oscar as his main man, he's a good payer don't get me wrong but think I'd rate him Chelsea's 5th best attacking midfielder behind Mata, Hazard, De Bruyne and Willian!

Maybe it helps Oscar is very versatile. Think Mourinho loves versatile players, no surprise Ramires is nailed on for him. Oscar can play deep as a central midfielder, at the tip of a midfield triangle, or supporting the striker.

And it's true that he has been great for Brazil. He helped tear Spain apart in the Confed Cup, the assist for the Neymar goal was masterful.
