As David Moyes’ teamsheet leaves the door ajar for an inspired West Brom to silence Old Trafford, Arsenal, driven on by their Welsh starlet once again, grab their opportunity to set the Premier League pace.

The Game Changer

Aaron Ramsey’s extraordinary ascendency continues. A fourth league goal at the Liberty tonight ensured the points for the Gunners and handed Ramsey’s Fantasy owners a second double figure haul, with the Welshman also assisting Serge Gnabry’s opener.

The clamour for Ramsey will now continue and, after two consecutive 0.3 price rises in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, it seems we’re witnessing one the most rapid and relentless bandwagons since Michu burst on to the scene last season.

With Ramsey’s form showing incredible consistency, it seems assured that Wenger will keep him installed as a key figure in his midfield, despite the availability of Mikel Arteta and the impending return of Santi Cazorla. Rest and rotation may eventually bite, even with that risk, Ramsey remains almost impossible to ignore.

His army of Fantasy owners will be rejoicing this evening. The rest will be wondering if they should swallow their pride and get on board, despite missing the rise of 0.7. While it feels like chasing points, those points show little sign of slowing up.

The Underused

Morgan Amilfitano was United’s chief tormenter at Old Trafford. An outstanding display was capped by his second goal in consecutive matches and was coupled with an assist for the Baggies winner. The Frenchman’s impact on the Baggies has been profound and Steve Clarke appears to unearthed a gem.

With maximum bonus on their way, Amilfitano has brought in 24 points in his three Premier League appearances and is now blinking brightly on our radars as a low-to-mid price midfield asset.

His arrival at the Hawthorns created little publicity, with the signings of Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe allowing him to land in the midlands without fanfare. Certainly, his statistics over his previous two seasons at Marseille were underwhelming: two goals and seven assists from 60 league games hardly earmarked him for immediate attention from Fantasy managers.

Three matches in, however, and it’s clear that Amilfitano has been rejuvenated and, despite West Brom’s tough schedule, he represents a major consideration for those looking to free up funds from their midfield.

The Selection Poser

We saw rotation in the United lineup prior to matchday one of the Champions League and, today, it materialised again. While we should not detract from the performance of West Brom, the United teamsheet was surely a contributing factor behind their shock 2-1 reverse.

Defensively, David Moyes’ side were far from secure without the assured presence of Patrice Evra and, in particular Nemanja Vidic. The omission of both ahead of Wednesday’s tie with Shakhtar Donetsk came as a surprise. It was anticipated that Rio Ferdinand would be the more likely to be rotated out, with club captain Vidic hailed only this week by Moyes as the best central defender he’s ever managed.

It remains to be seen if the United boss repeats such a policy in matches to come. Clearly he has options and the means to rotate his defence, making it difficult for Fantasy managers to assess the options on offer at a time when their fixtures had suggested the promise of defensive returns. Today’s lineup and result surely calls for a rethink.

In attack, Robin van Persie was kept on the bench until United were forced to chase the game. While the Dutchman was fit enough for selection, Moyes chose to keep him from the fray and presumably preserve him for European action.

Prior to matchday one of the Champions League in Gameweek 4, Van Persie was replaced with 11 minutes remaining against a 10-man Palace and back then, we highlighted the possibility of limited pitch time to come with Moyes protecting his star asset. Moyes’ decision to start without him today not only provided further frustration for his Fantasy owners, denting Van Persie’s stock once again, it surely provided a boost for visitors West Brom, inspiring them to put on a performance that ultimately proved too much for a weakened and out-of-sorts United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Siggy and Chadli play down the left. Paulinho is a deep lying box to box CM. Townsend features at RW and Eriksen plays in the hole off of Soldado.

Moyes is a knob that's why. Resting them for a competition we cannot win (UCL) and at the same time further jeopardizing our chances in one that we have a chance at (EPL).

    The Spungos GW7 XI:

    Mignolet
    Coleman - Vidic - Zabaleta
Ben Arfa - Hazard - Michu - Whittingham
    Giroud - Sturridge (c) - Rooney (v)

    Boruc - Barkley - Collins - Chester+

Oh well. Have 'end loaded' my GW with 7 players in the last 3 games. Suarez, Mirallas, Moses, Barfa, Coleman, Turner, Mignolet...

I do, 56(-8) but with only one left not sure it'll be enough for a green arrow come monday night. I shouldn't be greedy, with a minus 8 a green arrow was never that likely.

Had a bit of discussion about the average and I thought it would be touching 50 after being 26 tonight, because it had an obscene boost on the final night last week, but someone pointed out there were special circumstances last week as Walcott and RVP were both injured and most of the subs did really well (Brady, Barkley, Southampton defence). Might be more like 45.

Logic would suggest yes. But I suppose this is why we love and hate the game.

The only thing putting me off is having 3 arsenal attackers as I really feel Giroud is essential with not too many strikers performing at present. And how can anyone not have Ozil. His record speaks for itself.

Admittedly I think Ozil is an insane creator but don't have him because I've been burnt by creators so much, you can create loads but the FPL assists just don't seem fair. I stayed off Ozil at the start because I reckoned at 10 and with BPS not favouring assisters, you'd need him to average about an assist per game. In fairness, he is beating that right now.

You may well be right on this. Something I will have to keep my eye on. Ozil will have the most assists come the end of the season but he won't score too many goals which would lead to the Bonus Points. Good advice.

Yeah if he starts scoring he is flying straight into my team. Heck if he keeps assisting at this rate I will have to consider too.

I'm not sure I even trust my rules too much given performance so far, and it wouldn't be three, but since you ask these are the ones I follow.

      1) Stats of the past count, points of the past don't.
      2) Shots are divided between strikers. There is no escaping this. Your striker must be the main man at the club. There are very few teams that score so many goals you can disregard this.
      3) Captain whoever you think will score the most points.

            Actually I'm being a whiner:

            GW1: Hazard (c) = 16 pts.
            GW2: Walcott (c) = 10 pts.
            GW3: Aguero (c) = 4 pts.
            GW4: Giroud (c) = 22 pts.
            GW5: Walcott (c)-> Sturridge (vc) = 4 pts.
            GW6: Ozil (c) = 4 pts.

So I guess I'm 50/50 so far. I'll start a new thread to see how often people's captain choices work...

Been needing a replacement for Brayford since th beginning of the season and finally have the FT to do it.

Been keeping an eye out on Walker at Spurs for their good fixtures, but Swansea's look even better. So:

    B. Davies

    (Davies is 1m cheaper)

Nolan on -96.2%, should I do a -4 for Oscar or Michu? (or some other mid)

Looking at the stats, Paulinho. I think Eriksen will be the one getting the points once Soldado finds his form though

Can't afford Eriksen. So if u had to choose Siggy or Paulinho?

Unless he scores against Everton, I think I will take HBA out for a really cheap midfielder who will stay on the bench. Then I can upgrade Collins to someone like Walker or Vidic later on.

No, cause then I'll bench him and he'll score 12 points.

        I'd rather have Delph.

He won't get a penalty every week, especially not when he's out having a hernia operation.

    Okay so:

    Boruc
    Collins Enrique Zab Brayford Chester
    Michu Moses Silva Mirrallas Kim
    Giroud Rooney Studge.

    .8 in the bank 1FT.

I don't normally ask such open-ended team related question but I'm really at a loss at what to do. I have Collins, silva, Bray, foster and chester who are bascially dead-wood but I don't see them as important enough player to wildcard over. What should I do? I was thinking of getting ramsey in and swapping out brayford for a stronger defender like ferdinand for a hit but not sure really....

Please assist. I will be eternally grateful.

Sort the defence, mid looks ok this week coming. Chester for Shaw/Fonte/Clyne or Collins for Dawson?

50-50 but defo defence needs attention first imo - you have 2 who defo wont play and 1 that is unlikely (Collins), I have a similar problem with Chester and Collins too

Close to WC territory. Maybe hang on until the International Break.

You obviously need another defender. The rest of your team is playing outside Silva.

      Silva > Ramsey
      collins > Bains

potential for large gains to make up for the -4

🙁 27-4 with 4 players left (Mignolet, Turner, Lukaku and Sturridge). Not epic fail but real shitty. As usual my captain (Ozil in this case) fell flat on his case. Eriksen + Ozil + Michu = a miserable 5 points. I think clearly knee jerking them out would be a bad idea but seriously, do they all have to flop at the same time? Jeeze...
