As David Moyes’ teamsheet leaves the door ajar for an inspired West Brom to silence Old Trafford, Arsenal, driven on by their Welsh starlet once again, grab their opportunity to set the Premier League pace.

The Game Changer

Aaron Ramsey’s extraordinary ascendency continues. A fourth league goal at the Liberty tonight ensured the points for the Gunners and handed Ramsey’s Fantasy owners a second double figure haul, with the Welshman also assisting Serge Gnabry’s opener.

The clamour for Ramsey will now continue and, after two consecutive 0.3 price rises in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, it seems we’re witnessing one the most rapid and relentless bandwagons since Michu burst on to the scene last season.

With Ramsey’s form showing incredible consistency, it seems assured that Wenger will keep him installed as a key figure in his midfield, despite the availability of Mikel Arteta and the impending return of Santi Cazorla. Rest and rotation may eventually bite, even with that risk, Ramsey remains almost impossible to ignore.

His army of Fantasy owners will be rejoicing this evening. The rest will be wondering if they should swallow their pride and get on board, despite missing the rise of 0.7. While it feels like chasing points, those points show little sign of slowing up.

The Underused

Morgan Amilfitano was United’s chief tormenter at Old Trafford. An outstanding display was capped by his second goal in consecutive matches and was coupled with an assist for the Baggies winner. The Frenchman’s impact on the Baggies has been profound and Steve Clarke appears to unearthed a gem.

With maximum bonus on their way, Amilfitano has brought in 24 points in his three Premier League appearances and is now blinking brightly on our radars as a low-to-mid price midfield asset.

His arrival at the Hawthorns created little publicity, with the signings of Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe allowing him to land in the midlands without fanfare. Certainly, his statistics over his previous two seasons at Marseille were underwhelming: two goals and seven assists from 60 league games hardly earmarked him for immediate attention from Fantasy managers.

Three matches in, however, and it’s clear that Amilfitano has been rejuvenated and, despite West Brom’s tough schedule, he represents a major consideration for those looking to free up funds from their midfield.

The Selection Poser

We saw rotation in the United lineup prior to matchday one of the Champions League and, today, it materialised again. While we should not detract from the performance of West Brom, the United teamsheet was surely a contributing factor behind their shock 2-1 reverse.

Defensively, David Moyes’ side were far from secure without the assured presence of Patrice Evra and, in particular Nemanja Vidic. The omission of both ahead of Wednesday’s tie with Shakhtar Donetsk came as a surprise. It was anticipated that Rio Ferdinand would be the more likely to be rotated out, with club captain Vidic hailed only this week by Moyes as the best central defender he’s ever managed.

It remains to be seen if the United boss repeats such a policy in matches to come. Clearly he has options and the means to rotate his defence, making it difficult for Fantasy managers to assess the options on offer at a time when their fixtures had suggested the promise of defensive returns. Today’s lineup and result surely calls for a rethink.

In attack, Robin van Persie was kept on the bench until United were forced to chase the game. While the Dutchman was fit enough for selection, Moyes chose to keep him from the fray and presumably preserve him for European action.

Prior to matchday one of the Champions League in Gameweek 4, Van Persie was replaced with 11 minutes remaining against a 10-man Palace and back then, we highlighted the possibility of limited pitch time to come with Moyes protecting his star asset. Moyes’ decision to start without him today not only provided further frustration for his Fantasy owners, denting Van Persie’s stock once again, it surely provided a boost for visitors West Brom, inspiring them to put on a performance that ultimately proved too much for a weakened and out-of-sorts United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

would you save FT with this team?

    Ming , 4.0

    Kosh , Terry , Turrner ,( Chester , Collins)

    Michu , Eriksen ,m Ozil , Arnautovic ( Williams )

    Sturridge , Soldado , Giroud

    2.4M in bank

since i have decent starting 11 temped to save FT

    any other ideas ,maybe?

    maybe Collins-Vidic

Stay away from Utd backline. Rooney/RvP or nobody from them. MaYbe Walker?
I'd also think about Soldado/Sturridge to Suarez.

I've got the same two problem players in defence and the same money in the bank. Right now my instinct is to save it and use the double transfer over the international break to free some funds and get Baines in your one of them (probably Collins).

    hello fellow FFSers

seems this this season is a bit wired and people at this site dont doing so well (at this moment )

    i wonder why

i have another terrible gw so far and another C fail (out of 5 gws i had 4C fails)

now looking to stay patient and back to basic after int break (possibly get RVP and Mata in)

refusing to get likes of Yaya,Ramsey and Brady in my team as well , learning this lession on hard way but i just dont fancy them to have score like this in future

i must stop be smartass when it comes to C choices as well cause all my C punts so far has been major dissipointed

hopefully community will start racking up some pts and green arrows soon cause this is just wired

i am not used to be ranked 90 k or so

Even i don't fancy Yaya at that price but the thing with likes of Brady and Ramsey is they offer good value. They afford you to upgrade your forwards and defense and are not bad options. At that price, even if they fail to return for 2-3 weeks it won't be a big issue if rest of your big players perform.

There's a fine art to distinguishing points chasing, which is amateurish, and backing form, which is crucial for FPL success.

Buying Bacuna or Osvaldo would be chasing points.

Buying Yaya, Brady or Ramsey would be backing form.

Buying Weimann or Amalfitano could prove to be either...

I am sure I am not getting Yaya, not for that money!

Though, still trying to decide whether to buy Ramsey or not. On the one hand, I am afraid that this bus has gone for me, but on the other, everyone in my cash ML has him and him doing it again will be punishing me like crazy 🙁

I was planning to either save FT to have 2FTs during international break, or bring Walker / Dawson into my team...

    Hi.

Have 2 frees this week. Looking to do Vidic, Lampard, Erikson to Baines, Michu, Sigurdson.

The first two look no-brainers, but am concerned about bringing in Siggurdson if he doesn't start. Who do people think is more nailed on - Siggurdson or Paulinho?...

I only saw the highlights but it looked like Erikson was drifting a bit deeper too so that made me think if it's worth getting him out.

Any other suggestions for 7m mids?... Already have Ya Ya, Ramsay and Brady

    Thanks

The points about Yaya's set pieces I think are spot on. That means he still has 5 goals left in him from normal open play going by his 6 a season trend :/ plus many more free kicks to take!

As for Ramsey 8 goals from 9 shots on target is insane and won't be kept up, but even if it drops to 1 in 3 that's still good and you can't grumble at the price. Will get him in fairly soon I think.

A couple of observations re Moyes/Man Utd that may have already have been made , but

    1. What a fantastic job Ferguson did to win the title last season with this squad,
    2. Moyes is resting players from the PL to play in the Champions League. He would be well advised to do the reverse as Utd have no chance of winning the Champions League and may struggle to qualify for it next season since there look to be stronger teams with Arsenal,Chelsea,Man City, Tottenham

Yes - they have 3 top class players in RVP,Rooney an Vidic - resting 2 of them they are vulnerable even against mid table opposition.

Bad management by Moyes. No easy games against anyone in the Prem. Always start with your strongest side. Maybe rest one star but that's it. He's asking for trouble.

It was poor management, he hasn't had to deal with a big squad like this before, at Everton he always had his first team and a few subs, now he has 2 teams to manage, yesterday would have been a huge wake up call and don't imagine him resting his vital players anymore unless it's for a domestic up.

There's 3 million price difference between Yaya and Ramsey. Stop discussing them as though they are equivalent options.

I think the point is that they are both players who don't play in a very attacking position and who seem to be scoring more goals than they 'should'

Yeah I accept that, there's no way in hell either can keep up this scoring rate but Ramsey could quite easily be a decent 6millionish option.

True, but purely looking at his potential going forward and putting his freak start to one side, do you really want to use a transfer to bring him in? If you do, it will either be for 6.5 at the end of the week or 6.2 now before all the midweek games.

It just doesn't make sense. If you have him, well done. If not, never mind.

Do you guys think Nolan -> Hazard is worth a hit this week? I would probably bench Mirallas/Baines (mcy) this week if doing so.

If I wait until next week I probably won't be able to afford him given Nolan's stock is crashing.

    Baines, Zaba, Terry, Toure
    Mirallas, Michu, Ramsey
    Soldado, Sturridge, Giroud

His underlying stats are still fairly decent though, and he has (nor, CAR) up next. Could be a great time to bring him in (especially if Lamps is out with an injury, i.e. pens added to his locker)...

Yeah, I think I'd bench Mirallas of the 2, although Man City away is probably his toughest fixtures of the season.

Hazard's underlying stats are decent and he has (nor, CAR) up next. Could be a great time to bring him in (especially if Lamps is out with an injury, i.e. pens added to his locker)...??

No more knee jerking and big hits for me. Had a poor weekend so far, just like last week. This season is weird but I'm confident I've got a side that can compete. So I'm sticking to my guns. Won't even be doing my FT this week. Will save for next week.
