As David Moyes’ teamsheet leaves the door ajar for an inspired West Brom to silence Old Trafford, Arsenal, driven on by their Welsh starlet once again, grab their opportunity to set the Premier League pace.

The Game Changer

Aaron Ramsey’s extraordinary ascendency continues. A fourth league goal at the Liberty tonight ensured the points for the Gunners and handed Ramsey’s Fantasy owners a second double figure haul, with the Welshman also assisting Serge Gnabry’s opener.

The clamour for Ramsey will now continue and, after two consecutive 0.3 price rises in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game, it seems we’re witnessing one the most rapid and relentless bandwagons since Michu burst on to the scene last season.

With Ramsey’s form showing incredible consistency, it seems assured that Wenger will keep him installed as a key figure in his midfield, despite the availability of Mikel Arteta and the impending return of Santi Cazorla. Rest and rotation may eventually bite, even with that risk, Ramsey remains almost impossible to ignore.

His army of Fantasy owners will be rejoicing this evening. The rest will be wondering if they should swallow their pride and get on board, despite missing the rise of 0.7. While it feels like chasing points, those points show little sign of slowing up.

The Underused

Morgan Amilfitano was United’s chief tormenter at Old Trafford. An outstanding display was capped by his second goal in consecutive matches and was coupled with an assist for the Baggies winner. The Frenchman’s impact on the Baggies has been profound and Steve Clarke appears to unearthed a gem.

With maximum bonus on their way, Amilfitano has brought in 24 points in his three Premier League appearances and is now blinking brightly on our radars as a low-to-mid price midfield asset.

His arrival at the Hawthorns created little publicity, with the signings of Stephane Sessegnon and Victor Anichebe allowing him to land in the midlands without fanfare. Certainly, his statistics over his previous two seasons at Marseille were underwhelming: two goals and seven assists from 60 league games hardly earmarked him for immediate attention from Fantasy managers.

Three matches in, however, and it’s clear that Amilfitano has been rejuvenated and, despite West Brom’s tough schedule, he represents a major consideration for those looking to free up funds from their midfield.

The Selection Poser

We saw rotation in the United lineup prior to matchday one of the Champions League and, today, it materialised again. While we should not detract from the performance of West Brom, the United teamsheet was surely a contributing factor behind their shock 2-1 reverse.

Defensively, David Moyes’ side were far from secure without the assured presence of Patrice Evra and, in particular Nemanja Vidic. The omission of both ahead of Wednesday’s tie with Shakhtar Donetsk came as a surprise. It was anticipated that Rio Ferdinand would be the more likely to be rotated out, with club captain Vidic hailed only this week by Moyes as the best central defender he’s ever managed.

It remains to be seen if the United boss repeats such a policy in matches to come. Clearly he has options and the means to rotate his defence, making it difficult for Fantasy managers to assess the options on offer at a time when their fixtures had suggested the promise of defensive returns. Today’s lineup and result surely calls for a rethink.

In attack, Robin van Persie was kept on the bench until United were forced to chase the game. While the Dutchman was fit enough for selection, Moyes chose to keep him from the fray and presumably preserve him for European action.

Prior to matchday one of the Champions League in Gameweek 4, Van Persie was replaced with 11 minutes remaining against a 10-man Palace and back then, we highlighted the possibility of limited pitch time to come with Moyes protecting his star asset. Moyes’ decision to start without him today not only provided further frustration for his Fantasy owners, denting Van Persie’s stock once again, it surely provided a boost for visitors West Brom, inspiring them to put on a performance that ultimately proved too much for a weakened and out-of-sorts United.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

    three questions:

    1) should I ship oscar or hold tight? is he still nailed on? and even if he is, i'm not sure chelsea are scoring enough for my liking....

    2) ramsey - will he keep this up or is this some freak streak that will end soon?

    3) moyes - will he keep his job? 7pts from 6 games as united manager is pretty dire, especially considering getting smashed by your biggest rivals from across town

A bad run you can understand, it happens...a bad team selection is another matter. I hope he's got a thick skin.

He's not nailed on in my opinion, would personally look to get rid as there are safer options in this bracket.

Nobody can tell you, but why not ride the wave. Rid whenever he flops.

      Yes

I may get Ramsey in just because I am one of the only 2 in TOP10 of my cash ML, who doesn't own him (..yet) 😐

God knows whether he is gonna keep scoring like this or it will stop very soon...

      1) Hold, norwich followed by cardiff, worth giving him a chance with those fixtures.
      2) He can't keep it up forever but there's nothing to indicate hos form will dry up sooner rather than later.
      3) Short term yes, long term, who knows?

Mourinho loves Oscar and has recently stated that he has made the number 10 jersey his own. I think we may see Mata coming back but I think he will play on the left or right.

Ramsey seems to be flourishing in the more advanced role and while Walcott and Cazorla are out injured I think he is a safe bet to play further up the pitch. Probably won't maintain the goal return but wouldn't swap him at the moment.

I can't see Moyes losing his job as he will be getting the backing of Ferguson behind the scenes. However, it may be at risk if he were to lose the dressing room. I personally think his defence is letting him down at the moment as Ferdinand has been getting caught out of position loads. I also don't think he knows his best team yet and the players he can trust.

Is Toure a must have now?

    Current team:

    Mignolet | Boruc

    Vidic | Walker | Hangeland | Clyne | Turner

    Michu | Oscar | Ramsey | Barkley | Delph

    Sturridge | Rooney | Giroud

Ideally this is the team I want:

    Mignolet | Boruc

    Terry | Walker | Mertesacker | Clyne | Turner

    Michu | Oscar | Ramsey | Barkley | Brady

    Giroud | Suarez | Rooney

    So my options are:

    Vidic > Terry
    Hangeland > Mertesacker
    Delph > Brady
    Sturridge > Suarez

I have 3.1 million in the bank and think I will do my transfer tonight. Who do you think I should get? out of these options?

Sturridge to Suarez. Suarez is going to take off immediately, I can feel it. He has a low ownership too, so you get a differential score. Make him captain and laugh when he bags a hat-trick at home to Crystal Palace next week!

Squad value of 102.6m after 5 GW's with no wild card and one hit feels pretty good. 100m squad 2.6 in the bank and doing alright. (hovering around 300k).

Now to decide whether to free up RVP cash and go on a WC spree or hold until international break.

    What would you do?

Preaching to the converted mate. But increasing your squad value as a by product of playing for points is sweet. I'll be sub 300k after today with a wildcard in tact and said squad value. I'm aiming sub 100k on this my second season. How are you getting on? Very strange game week.

Don't get the Brady flagging/unflagging. He has a hernia that he would play through until he gets the chance to have it sorted.

He didn't get his hernia fixed on the pitch today did he? So come this weeks pressers he'll surely be flagged again when Bruce says he has a hernia. :s
