Back after a five-week break, Granville and I have squeezed in two holidays, two wildcards, an engagement (certainly not to each other), a dose of man flu and a near-on leg amputation. Packed, I tell thee.

The other highlight has been the steady and consistent decline of my Fantasy season, giving my co-host Granville plenty of ammunition. Reclined in his armchair, leg braced like James Stewart, the stricken Mancunian leaves his Rear Window to investigate the brutal murder of my fantasy team.

Once the taunting dies down, we manage to tackle the old regulars: bandwagons are assessed, the weekend is previewed and the ScoutCast team gets some love on its way to outscoring my lineup for a fifth week running. Sigh.

Hobble our way via this link, or cast you ears in our direction via the player below:

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

Opinions lads! WC draft. Thoughts on the same?

    xx 4.0M
    xx Terry Dawsom Clyne Burner
    xx Michu Ramsey Barkley Whittingham
    RVP Giroud Ramsey

    A) Vorm Vidic Siggy
    B) Boruc Vidic Siggy + 0.5M
    C) Boruc Davies Eriksen

I have had Boruc + 4.0M so far but tempted to make the switch to Vorm + 5.0 since Swans have cracking fixtures. They have already played Liverpool, Tott, Utd and Arsenal.

Easy switch when they are fit. Suarez and RVP have the armband for the next 6. Hence RVP now. I think a big captaincy haul is around the corner.

It's an interesting mix of decisions. You're sticking with RVP and will no doubt argue that he will score well over the season - fair enough. Do you then apply the same logic to Ramsey and Barkley - surely they can't keep up their current scoring rate long term and then your midfield looks thin.

I don't trust Vidic/United def as i said last night. Evans might come into the mix as an uber option...?

I know Rvp is your blue eyed boy, but I prefer Rooney. Money saved can be used for Walcott/Ozil/mata.

I prefer Lukaku over GRu. More money saved. GEt Mignolet.

      Just my thought.

Captaincy. Just trust Robin much more with it. Also Gru has done nothing wrong so far. And Ars scoring goals. Will switch to Lukster soon. Not just yet. Plus i think Barkley is really good Eve coverage. He's very attacking. Should be 8M. Criminally underpriced.

you seem to have ramsey up front

RVP could be a genius move now everyone (seasoned players that is) seems to have sold him.

It is quite an irony that with mid price midfielders doing well, rvp is suddenly affordable again.

So let me work out my reasoning. Is Ozil a captaincy option for me? No. At present, i think he is overpriced. Even if he ain't, i think Gru and Ramsey are performing well and i don't need Arsenal overkill.

Which is why i want Robin. He and Suarez have my captaincy covered for the short-term. He's only played 4 games this season. Scored 2 vs. Swans and 1 vs. Palace.

Don't have an expensive mid i like at present. Theo/Mata only ones that tempt me and Mata still has rotation issues i reckon. Easy defender downgrade/RVP downgrade when options arise.

        Also, A,B or C?

You are mistakenly assuming Walcott will have the same effect this season as he had last.

He may do, but that is by no means guaranteed. He may have a down year just like RVP is having thus far.

FPL history suggests that if he is going to do something its liable to be in the second half of the season. Likewise with Ramsey, he's likely to see a downturn in the second half of the season too.

in my non expert opinion Siggy will outscore Eriksen as in points per minutes played although Siggy will probably never be nailed on and i think there is a big difference in Eriksens average position on the pitch compared to his teammates as in possession average position vs non possession avg. pos.(when Spurs have ball possession it seems to me like there are always 4-5 teammates in front of him on the pitch and when they dont have possession its him and Soldado who are in front of the teammates)
      p.s. sorry for my english

What has been clarified by looking at spurs attacking stats is that they've been extremely wasteful in front of goal. With several players having had a LOT of shots and not so many goals

They will start scoring freely at some point. They're not a team of taraabts, surely.

If they do start firing, boy they could be title contenders.

I can only assume AVB has actively told the likes of paulinho and townsend to shoot on sight.

After being so wasteful you would've thought either they'd stop shooting out of embarrassment, or manager/ teammates would tell them to stop being greedy effers!

As a Southampton fan, I remember when Bale had just come onto the scene, main man aged 16 (or was it 15?) ripping it up in the championship.

Anyway, news had got round that he was a player, and a certain Alex Ferguson came down to watch him at St Mary's.

Long story short: It was most probably the worst game he's ever played. His passes went astray, his dribbles didn't come off and he had the first touch of... of a... bad man.

I wonder if Fergie still looks back on that day and thinks "D'OH!"

I won my mini league last year without discovering any of this FFS and TotalFPL. I used the formula of buying the cheapest players from the top six clubs as I knew they would get more points than everyone else last year. I didn't have Benteke or chased in form players from "lesser clubs" because I knew season end that players from the bigger clubs would generally score more than the smaller clubs. It's not perfect but it simplified it for me and it worked. I think I'll adopt the same approach again from now on. I'll always have Spurs, Liverpool defenders before Saints defenders because they will finish higher and be on the winning side the majority of times. I'm not sold on Barkley or Brady because they don't play for the best. But Ramsey is a keeper because he's Arsenal.

Following Blue Baggers very useful posts on runs of favourable/unfavourable fixtures, I've made a simple gantt chart graphic on this as it was hard to digest the info and compare team vs team using just the text post.

Here's the link to it, hope it's helpful. If you guys think it is, might find a better time to post this again later today. Cheers.

    Hi

My team below needs some shaking up and this week I am concerned about no attacking Liverpool coverage, I also have too many players who "might" do something but haven't yet!

    Mig (camp)
    Evra, Gibbs, Walker (Wilson, Chester)
    Toure, Ozil, Eriksen, Lampard (Ward-Prowse)
    Giroud, Lukaku, Berbatov

I am prepared to do 2 transfers this week and take a hit if necessary, any suggestions comments please much appreciated!

To be more precise I would suggest Sturridge or Suarez if you can afford it

Cheers, oh yeah I have £1.2m in bank, I can upgrade berb and downgrade lamps to make it work, I was holding off with berbatov vs stk and then palace nice fixtures.

I will have a tough decision to make on Saturday night.

Wildcard or leave team as is and save WC for feb onwards.

Good luck. Normally it's an obvious choice when you consider the team you could have.

Looking at your team there nomar and it seems to me it does not need major overhaul, you should save the wildcard I think.

        That's my feeling too, Henry.

I have Ramsey and Suarez in for Walcott and Soldado this week too so only really a couple of defenders needed for Chester and Collins and mids for Brady and HBA.

I'm thinking those can be done in stages anyway. My keepers and strikers don't need changing really unless I get a few more injuries.

      Hey. It's looking okay.

      Mignolet
      Collins Terry Mertesacker
      Mirallas Özil Michu Moses
      Sturridge (c) Giroud Soldado (vc)

Subs: Marshall Kim Bo-Kyung MTurner Brayford

Going to do Collins -> Clyne for a free before deadline, 1FT and 0.2M in the bank at the moment. How about you ?

Q for everyone: If you owned Ozil and Giroud and had to captain one, who would you captain?

Would try & avoid this week but probably Giroud. Likely to be a mistake though.

i don't mean this week. I mean in general.

My thought is that I would captain giroud. This makes me think that owning ozil at his price isn't worth it. I want a captaincy option at that price.

Given that I think giroud will get more points than ozil and he's cheaper, selling him would seem a crazy solution!

Giroud. Not a fan of captaining midfielders myself, generally they aren't explosive enough.

Looking at my options at the back for this GW, it doesn't look good. But how bad is it, and do you guys think I should take a hit? Already did my transfer up front.

    Cahill, Wilson, Coleman, Zabaleta, Chester.

    Got 0,2 in the bank.

    A) play Cahill, Wilson, Zabaleta, dont take hit (risk: Luiz and Richards plays)
    B) take the hit, but who do I transfer out Zabaleta or Cahill?
