In the first instalment of a new, weekly article for members, we conduct some in-depth statistical analysis into one of the most crucial aspects in any given Gameweek – just who we entrust with the Fantasy armband. This week the options are plentiful – Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham all feature at home, City travel to basement-dwellers Sunderland, while a couple of Belgians are also in the running as clear captain contenders. With an array of talent on show, just who is “Captain Sensible”?

In Tommy We Trust Let's talk AllThingsFPL.com or let's talk about the weather. Your choice - Is it sunny where you are? Follow them on Twitter

    Mourinho asked "you dropped the right people then". Smiles. "Nothing to do with dropping people!"

    Mourinho: "My favourite players are the ones that win matches for me, not the ones that lose matches for me."

      it's fair to say that Hazard, Luiz and Mata are all doubts to start this weekend

        Jose seems to be a little cheesed off with Hazard and certainly wasn't as simple as "missed" a session as he "prefers to talk about" the players that came & played well.

    Is anyone interested in finding out what happens when 3 teams finish tied on points in the group stages?
    You're not? Well thats too bad, because here I go anyway.

    From Uefa's regulations: http://goo.gl/QadtR

    7.06 If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied to determine the rankings (in descending order):
    a) higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    b) superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question;
    c) higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    d) higher number of goals scored away from home in the group matches played among the teams in question;
    e) if, after having applied criteria a) to d), two teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to d) are reapplied to determine the final ranking of the two teams. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria f) to h) apply;
    f) superior goal difference from all group matches played;
    g) higher number of goals scored from all group matches played;
    h) higher number of coefficient points accumulated by the club in question, as well as its association, over the previous five seasons (see paragraph 9.02).

    So should Arsenal, Napoli and Dortmund all finish on 12 points, then it first comes down to GD between the sides, which currently stands at: (goals scored in brackets)
    Arsenal +2 (4)
    Dortmund -1 (3)
    Napoli -1 (2)

    Though Napoli have played a game less in this mini-group of 3 teams.

        But we really are missing a Peel/Howley character.
        We have some of the best centres in the game - imagine how they'd do with an extra 2 yards to think and do ?

        Phillips is a beast & I love his abrasive style - but I get so frustrated with every 'step and wind-up' pass.
        Just need him to rediscover some zip from the base….

    While my rejection of Ramsey is self-defeating and an abject failure, is ignoring Aguero for this weekend a bit more reasonable as I am firmly committed to Suarez for captain? Or is it almost as foolish as the Ramsey stance?

    In essence is anyone who has brought him in not captaining him?

    Sturridge and Benteke are my other strikers.

      Not me, not worth a hit. Might get him after this week though.

    Is Eto'o worth a cheeky punt this weekend?

    Can someone indulge me on this one.
    This is for a different fantasy footy game...

    Is Ramsey more potent when on the wing or through the centre?

    Lets face it, Hazard has been poor most of the season. 1 lucky game against Cardiff.
    Not sure what the attraction is when Oscar is playing in the no. 10 position for the same price.

      Yup, I agree. Though as an Oscar owner, maybe i'm biased?

      Hazard does outdo Oscar on the comparison tool though, but I ignored that when bringing Oscar in instead

        I don't own either so there's no agenda from me.

        The stats don't tell the full story.

        Well that's not just down to me, there's a committee. Some scouts believe in him which is fine. They know I'm against Hazard being in the picks and watchlist until he starts showing some form.
