These are hazardous times. Shopping in midfield is a thankless task, with little value and consistency on offer, aside from a pair of dominant forces who threaten to break the season, along with the hearts and minds of those too stubborn to jump on board their seemingly relentless bandwagons.

In this latest episode of the podcast, I lay the blame for my inept season squarely at the feet of my failing midfield and my reluctance to give Aaron Ramsey the time of day. Oh, how I crave those predictable days of the ever-reliable “Power Five”.

Granville does his best to ensure that my moans fall on sympathetic ears, although his sniggering gives him away on more than one occasion. In between giggles, my co-host joins me to dissect the week’s transfer activity, preview the weekend’s fixtures and mastermind another mediocre Gameweek for the ScoutCast lineup.

Is Snodgrass in anyone else's immediate plans? Yes he hasn't gotten any significant points on the board but he is a real threat, looking at last season's stats alone. Plus Norwich have a great run of fixtures for a while.

If there was ever a time to take a punt in midfield, surely it's now. With Michu having to be moved on and no real stand-outs waiting in the wings, Snoddy might be worth it for a few weeks at least...

So, who's keeping the faith in midfield? This GW we'll see the big hitters return to fore! Ozil, one of the Chelsea midfielders, maybe Coutinho, Silva to keep trucking?! Wally coming back soon. Mhmm. It's due time.

The secret is to have a distinctly underwhelming fantasy team - I seldom have the opportunity to gloat so even when I have a good week I'm confused and tend to retreat into my wheelhouse of general pessimism.

5-4-1 the right way to go with this team?

    Mignolet (Davis)
    Coleman Toure Fonte Dawson Terry
    Lallana Oscar(v) Yaya Ramsey (Januzaj)
    Suarez(C) (Remy Giroud)

I feel odd only playing 1 striker but the defence all have good fixtures and Remy and Riroud have bad fixtures

Check out the team defensive stats in the members area (or look at this table: http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/2254/ ) - Man Utd are giving away big chances like they've been overdosing on early Red Hot Chili Peppers.

    Hi guys,
How do I look this week, I'm into the top 100k so would like to stay there! I have 1 FT to use but not really sure that I need to!

    Migs - (Boruc)
    William - Shaw - Dawson - (Coleman) - (Collins)
    Januzaj - Silva - Barkley - Ozil - (Brady)
    Aguero (C) - Suarez (Vc) - Rooney

Captain is not set in stone am tinkering with the idea of switching to Suarez! Cheers!

I'm going to captain Sturridge ahead of Aguero, but its going to be horrible watching the game on Sunday if any of ML leaders have captained Aguero. Wanting him to blank when I own him!

It's like all the pesky rivals bringing in Boruc when I had him since GW1 along with having Lovren. I almost want Soton to concede now!

Then my only Arsenal coverage is Ozil, they all have Ramsey and Giroud... every assist ozil gets is going to be for one of them muppets.

Anyway my question. Still go for Sturridge?

I did look through the stats of Sturridge and Suarez, thinking Suarez is miles ahead. Do it for last 4 weeks and it's not that different imo. I'm not really great at analysing stats, so would appreciate your opinion.

This is the first tough captain choice i've had, maybe shows i've finally got my team in a decentish position.

yeah i totally agree with you that they are not that different. I really felt tho when suarez got his hatty that he's back to his best. there are days when he is totally unplayable and will score 3 goals, and sturridge may get 1 but won't be quite so explosive. that's the only real difference for me.

I risked aguero C last week, and it paid off, i'd be pretty comfortable doing it again

Does anyone know the price rise rules for players below their original value?

I recall (possibly wrongly) that the transfers required for them to start rising back towards their original price are substantially less.

For example, it's only taking Lamela a couple of hundred transfers out to fall, would it still take 50,000 (or whatever) for him to rise 0.1?

I'm no expert and may be totally off but the rise figure is set and applys to all players. Whereas falls are a % of their ownership

for lamela to fall by 0.1, less NTOs are required (due to evel less ownership)
to rise 0.1, I think he still needs that 40k-50k NTIs

It seems to reach his original price he'd need at least 550,000 transfers in. Considering to drop that much he needed less than 100,000 transfers out. I think you're right though.

Yes - price rise rules are unaltered depending on whether a player is above original value or not - it's still a set NTI, so Lamela will still need 50k NTI. Price falls rules are different, however - so that players with a high ownership can fall more easily back to their original price.

Unless it's RVP's special rule..in which case he can lose a about three quarters of a million owners for a 0.1 decrease...

Ah yes, the spurious flagging of RVP is very much to blame here - he was never above original price, however.

Right starters and bench order please?

    Migs
Terry - Clyne - Williams (STK)
Silva(?) - Lallana - Ozil (mun) - Ramsey (mun)
    Lukaka - Suarez - Sturridge
    Sub: Barkley, Dawson, B.Turner

Not sure if I should play Williams (STK) or Dawson (NEW).
    Newcastle looks more dangerous though.

I can also play 4 at the back, but it needs to bench one of those MFs which I couldn't decide.

          It's a tricky one.

Medium defence vs Poor attack OR Top defence Vs Medium attack.

I'd pick the Top defence personally.

Not this week, I wouldn't have thought. He's not going to play two games in three days after returning from injury.

He was only expected to be out for 3-4 weeks. He's come back a bit earlier but the original expectations made it not worth a transfer in and a transfer out.
