These are hazardous times. Shopping in midfield is a thankless task, with little value and consistency on offer, aside from a pair of dominant forces who threaten to break the season, along with the hearts and minds of those too stubborn to jump on board their seemingly relentless bandwagons.

In this latest episode of the podcast, I lay the blame for my inept season squarely at the feet of my failing midfield and my reluctance to give Aaron Ramsey the time of day. Oh, how I crave those predictable days of the ever-reliable “Power Five”.

Granville does his best to ensure that my moans fall on sympathetic ears, although his sniggering gives him away on more than one occasion. In between giggles, my co-host joins me to dissect the week’s transfer activity, preview the weekend’s fixtures and mastermind another mediocre Gameweek for the ScoutCast lineup.

  As one door closes, another opens eh. Probably best to remember it needn't be super serious, it should be fun. It's not like you're committing to either, it's just a fun date! Ask yourself whether it'll be fun. Lots of things can happen down the road, enjoy your school days. What I realise now is you can make lots of mistakes when you're growing up and you live in the end!

I recall JK saying Rooney has an average of 1 goal every 2 games against arsenal. That's similar to his career goalscoring rate. A little lower than his goalscoring rate in recent seasons when you include his two sparkling center forward seasons with 25+ goals. I would expect him to score less than average against this arsenal team, touch wood. In some ways Dortmund's counterattacking challenge has been the perfect preparation for united.

  Agree. Arsenal shaping up really well for this clash, and Carrick would be a big miss for United if he doesn't shrug off his injury.
  
  Wouldn't write off United though. The old rivalry days spring to mind, and for some reason it feels like the team that went into these games as the underdog usually came out on top.

    Yeah no shortage of motivation. Very wary of united, think main thing is not to commit all the midfielders forward on the attack. Will be a huge boost if flamini starts, if he's fit in tomorrow's presser MT decision is much easier. I can see him being detailed to stifle Rooney. I'm also optimistic because I think Dortmund have a much better counterattack and we learnt how to play that in the second game. I wouldn't want to see us park the bus though!

        If what united fans suspect is true, they'll play three in central midfield with jones as destroyer for Ozil. Sounds like that would exclude januzaj which would be great news from my point of view. Valencia and Rooney on the flanks. All speculative though.
