As we’re all very much aware, midfielders have been a real let-down this season for Fantasy managers thus far. Aside from Aaron Ramsey’s sensational displays for Arsenal, there have very few options for us to look upon as reliable assets – Adam Lallana’s recent rise to prominence has already persuaded over 78,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers to snap up the Southampton skipper, despite games against Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Spurs in the next six Gameweeks:

With this in mind, in this latest article for members, weβ€˜ve turned to the Custom Stats Tables feature in the members area and assessed the midfielders with the most impressive data over the last four Gameweeks. For the purposes of this table, and in order to include some of the standout players across key categories, we set the bar to ensure each of our 16 candidates registered a minimum of 5 shots, 5 chances created, 2 shots on target and 1 shot inside the box between Gameweeks 8-11.

Paul Is certain he won't make the same mistakes next season. Follow them on Twitter

Is Winston Reid back for Chelsea game? If so, I presume West Ham will be strengthened at the back, and a draw could be on the cards? πŸ™‚

    Thanks in advance!

Help wanted in PP Cup as I drew a previous winner πŸ™

We both have Boruc, Mignolet, Coleman, Hazard, Ramsey & Suarez

    My opponents differentials:
Def: Shaw, Ashley Williams, K. Toure & Chester
    Mid: Ozil, Nasri & Townsend
    Fwd: Giroud & Lukaku

    My differentials:
Def: Vlaar, Lovren, Dawson & Burner
Mid: Amalfitano, Ravel Morrison and Michu
    Fwd: Rooney & Aguero

I have 0.2 in the bank and need to move Michu on so as not to lose any more value but I don't want to double up in midfield this GW.

Do I play safe and get Nasri and rely on my big hitters up front to take me into the next round or go for someone else? If so, who?

I'm interested to know who people think will make the semis of the WC and who will go on to win it? (Might as well as it's the IB)

    I'll go for:

    Uruguay v Argentina
    Brazil v Spain

I think Spain still have the talent and the organization. They've got a deeper squad than any other nation and keep on bringing you talent through, so are my faves to win it.
Argentina should impress, as they should finally have enough time to organize themselves around the best player in the world. Messi will be very motivated in Brazil too. And some of the best players in the world won't be present, which might make Messi stand out even more.
Germany should be right up there.
Colombia and Uruguay could produce surprises with their attacking talent.
Italy usually bring a high-level catenaccio system to major tournaments.
Belgium have ridiculous talent and a cohesive side.
And the standards of African football are improving, with the Ivory Coast and Nigeria having great depth.

On current form and quality, I'm tipping:
      Argentina v. Spain
      Belgium v. Germany

      Spain to win

I suppose yeah. They just seem to flag players for next to nothing though. Not only does it deter FPL players from bringing in that certain player (despite the fact they will 99% play) but the influence it has on price rises/falls is also frustrating.

it's fair enough, he probably would have played. maybe the flags trust managers too much. instead of guessing when managers are lying i think overall you'll be better off just taking their word for injuries. the convenience of the whole affair then leading to the minor 75% flag until the press conference says otherwise. 75% still technically means likely to play

In a perfect world, we would find A + B, but unfortunately there are not 11-15 players that have both. I tend to end up chasing fixtures, in the hope of discovering form ahead of the pack. This tactic has worked historically, but seems to be failing me this year - lallana aside.

It's gonna be a small bit annoying, I won't be able to follow it to the same degree as I would if I was home πŸ™

If i'm working at that stage then it's unlikely i'll see many games at all.

Will the World capture the imagination of the Australian public or is it low key? (In Sydney, if that makes a difference)

it's low key, but with Australia there it might make things slightly different. Thats if they are'nt thumped in their group games as they have being in friendlies lately
Though Oz really is'nt a soccer country IMO.

Yeah will be plenty of interest. Each country has their own area where their fans watch games. Australia will do well to win a game tbh.

that lease will inevitably need to be renewed at some point and will cost you a sweet fortune.

Selling a property becomes difficult when the leasehold has less than about 80 years on it (if memory serves me correctly)

Leasehold means that you own the property for the duration of the lease only, and then it belongs to the freeholder again.

          no quite.

In rent, you have no resale opportunity.

With a leasehold, you can still make a profit on your investment (but just remember, the shorter the lease, the more likely you'll need to spend a shit-tonne on renewal and consequently offsets your profit)

            thats the official term.

You'll also need permission from the freeholder to do work to on the buildings structure (even hanging baskets from the outer walls).

Vis-a-Vis, AKA, its bollocks. Go Freehold whenever you can.

and with a tough fixture (vs one of Europe's leanest defences), the logical recommendation would be to hold tight this gw.

On the other hand, he who has mighty cojones could have a great differential. Good luck if you do.

They have had a very easy run as whole BUT they did keep Liverpool away out, and only let Manu slip one past them away. So they have done v.well for some tougher fixtures.

You can only beat what's put in front of you.

They have looked very well organised and tenacious about winning possession. They defend with the ball like Barca too, and have done this against even the better sides.

1 goal conceded vs Liverpool and Man Utd (Both AWAY) and 4 points from those games.

I won't start doubting them until their form proves otherwise. This will be a tough game for Arsenal

Evening -- apologies for the post length. Trying to sort out my midfield and started to set the thresholds manually on the FPL site based on price, not position (like the old app) and found a few items for points comparison with Midfielders and Defenders:

5.4/under Midfielders: only Brady and Morrison with 40+ (12 Def, with 8 Def > Brady)
      5.9/u Mids: Barkley joins the 40+ club (16 Def, 11 > Brady)
6.4/u Mids: SAME group of Mids (20 Def, 13 > Brady)
6.9/u Mids: Lallana joins at 61 pts (Defenders stay the same, Lovren = Lallana)
7.0-7.9/u Mids: His Highness the Ramsey joins at 76, as do a bunch of riffraff like Nolan Mirallas and Siggy all still behind Brady (Vert and Baines join Def -- 2nd and 3rd overall at 64/63)

As I sit with Michu one more day before his price drops, I look at Sess or Cabaye and others with decent form and fixtures in the 6-7m group and I can't justify getting any of them in -- if they stumble or get injured, the wasteland that is that price point is just devoid of legitimate options; even more telling for me though is the thought that going into December

      6m 6m 5m 5m 4m (Defenders)
      9m 9m 5m 5m 5m (Midfielders)

has to be the way forward for the back 10 in the outfield, with the 6m Defs and 9m Mids playing all the time and the players at 5m rotating based on form and fixtures -- I'd never want to bench a 7m Mid*, and until Theo and Silva return it's hard to see a need for more than two heavy Mids* since Arsenal, City and Chelsea take up all eight spots there in the 9+ bracket anyways.

*those of who you who own Yaya/Ramsey at bargain prices can cackle at us scavengers.

Does anyone have a lineup like the above price breakdown, or do most with a 4-3-3/3-4-3 flex have cheaper 3rd and 4th defenders and a more expensive 3rd mid?

I'm currently on 3 budget mids too.

Although that's predominantly to get Suarez, Aguero and Tekkers up top.

I think if you are playing 2 6m DEFs each week, you can afford to buy 3 cheapies, one or two of which have a good fixture every week.

I was wondering if my preference for the budget mids was based on price, but the breakdown so far makes me think they might just be better points options as well.

Have Sturridge Benteke Suarez but am looking for a Michu downgrade to fund Aguero in for Sturridge -- Aguero and Suarez are a nice captaincy rotation, too.

        Terry - GJ - Dawson - Nasty - Chester

        Hazard - Silva**(transfer waiting for Walcott) - Ramsey - Ravel - Januzaj

Make of it what you will but I definitely agree with you about Sess and Cabaye. They are probably not going to be long term gambles and with many of us having already played our WCs along with xmas rotation there is no room for gambles at this point imo. Sticking with this format until Ramsey declines a which point I will go for Hazard - Silva - Walcott - Ravel - Januzaj.

Who are you captaining and more importantly.. why?

Ozil currently here due to there being no stand outs, and he'll be a bit of a differential.

I also suspect aguero & suarez will blank this weekend (No silva, tottenham/Fatigue in Suarez & his squad)

I'm going for Remy because he is in pretty good form and Norwich have the leakiest defense so far this season (particularly away from home). The fact that most of the big hitters have difficult looking fixtures makes me more comfortable about taking a risk.

If you had to pick one midfielder besides Ravel who costs 5.4m or less to keep for the rest of the season who would you pick?

I'm liking Brady (I have to imagine he'll be back to form post-op soon enough) and Amalfitano as options. Januzaj is an interesting option but he's not nailed on..
