Jesus Navas and Sergio Aguero run riot at the Etihad as City bounce back from defeat at Sunderland to ensure their 100% home record continues at the hands of Tottenham. Wayne Rooney grabs a goal and assist in Robin Van Persie’s absence, though United are held to a draw at Cardiff, with old boy Fraizer Campbell amongst the goals.

Aguero Delivers Once Again
The Argentine extended his lead at the top of the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) standings with yet another stunning display. Aguero welcomed Spurs to the Etihad having averaged over 10 points per home appearance, with five goals, five assists and nine bonus points prior to yesterday’s match – a brace, assist and two bonus helped him to 15 points, his fifth set of double figures in 10 starts. Aguero has now scored or assisted in eight of his 10 appearances in Pellegrini’s XI and is serving up a consistency on a par with Luis Suarez; Fantasy managers holding both face a tough decision in any given Gameweek, as the pair continue to deliver points at a far superior rate to any other Fantasy asset – Suarez and Aguero have averaged 10.4 and nine points per game this term; Wayne Rooney is their nearest rival, on seven ppg by comparison.

Alvaro Negredo also caught the eye with a goal and assist – he has produced returns in each of the last five at home, racking up 38 points, but despite his Etihad consistency and cheaper price (at 9.1 to Aguero’s 12.0) the Spaniard remains firmly in his strike-partner’s shadow. Nonetheless, his security of starts looks assured – after the game, Pellegrini went on record as to say his summer signing was ”perfect” for the Premier League, with yesterday’s result meaning City have now scored 26 goals in just six games in front of their own fans.

Navas Finds his Form
It’s been an underwhelming start to the little winger’s Etihad career but yesterday’s display suggested he may finally be settling. Handed his first start since Gameweek 5, Navas more than atoned for the absence of David Silva by bagging a brace in the mauling of Tottenham, scoring in 13 seconds before firing home a late sixth – with an assist and maximum bonus also delivered, he ended the afternoon with a 19 point haul. Still sidelined by a calf complaint, Silva is surely nailed-on under Pellegrini and with Navas excelling on the right, Samir Nasri owners will be a little concerned for his game time upon Silva’s imminent return.

Tottenham Capitulate
Spurs rolled up to the Etihad boasting the league’s most impressive defensive record, with just a single goal conceded in five road trips and six goals against in the first 11 Gameweeks. They exited Manchester with their tails between their legs after Andre Villas-Boas’ decision to make six alterations to his starting XI backfired. The early-season resilience which helped grind out results has vanished – Spurs have failed to score in each of the last three, with a 1-0 win over Hull in Gameweek 9 the last time they found the net; even then, the win came courtesy of a converted spot-kick. With a raft of summer signings on board, Villas-Boas’ side still seem nowhere near settled, as a lack of consistency of selection continues to stunt their progress – United and Liverpool await them in the next four, suggesting the north London club face a tricky time of it.

Rooney Key to United
With Robin Van Persie sidelined though injury, the England start continued to demonstrate his importance to the United cause. A goal and assist in the 2-2 draw at Cardiff, supplemented by maximum bonus, took Rooney into third spot in the FPL forward standings on 77 points – yesterday’s haul was his third set of double figures of the season but crucially, all three have arrived in the last four Gameweeks; a clear indication of his flourishing form under David Moyes. Indeed, Rooney’s overall consistency has been hugely impressive since the champions’ new manager arrived, with a goal or assist in nine of his 11 appearances so far and since Gameweek 4, he has played a part in 11 of his side’s 16 goals.

Despite having the last fortnight to recover from the persistent toe and groin problems that forced him out of the recent Holland squad, it appears Van Persie had only managed light training; his manager’s failure to reveal this on Friday’s press conference cost the Dutchman’s 23% of FPL owners dearly. Prior to yesterday’s match, Moyes admitted he may will “probably need to look after” Rooney’s game time “somewhere in the next two months” but with the festive fixture list packing up pace as the games arrive at speed, it appears more than likely that Van Persie will be the one whose minutes may need managed. After the game, Moyes conceded the former Arsenal man was ruled out with a groin problem and aims to get him back “as soon as we can”.

Evra’s Attacking Potential
A goal against the Bluebirds continued the Frenchman’s impressive run of attacking form. Evra has also provided a couple of assists over the last five Gameweeks for Moyes’ side and in a season where the Red Devils have toiled for clean sheets, with only three so far, their left-back’s offensive potential has seen him deliver 51 FPL points – 27 points more than any of his defensive team-mates and 12 clear of David De Gea in goal. Granted, at 6.3, he’s the priciest option amongst Moyes’ backline but Evra is justifying the extra outlay – with three home games in four after next week’s trip to Spurs, he could come in for further investment, with his consistency of selection also looking key over the packed Christmas period.

Campbell’s Big Game Appetite
Clearly, there’s something about playing the Manchester clubs that brings out the best in Fraizer Campbell. Prior to yesterday, he’d drawn blanks in all but one of his 12 appearances this season – his only success arrived back in Gameweek 2, when Cardiff got the better of City 3-2. With Andreas Cornelius cementing his comeback from an ankle injury with a sub appearance off the bench, though, it remains to be seen whether Campbell will retain his starting berth – he had been named in the XI just once in the four games before yesterday’s draw. With Stoke, Palace and West Brom in the next four, confidence will be high after yesterday’s result – Peter Whittingham is the only attack-minded player to have started every league game for the Welsh club and chipped in with an assist and couple of bonus points yesterday; at 5.1 he’s certainly budget-friendly and remains a reliable starter under Malky Mackay.

Is it too risky to change RVP and Barkley to Giroud and Oscar before Champions league dutises? If I do that now, I gonna save money (because of price fall/ rice), but there is injury risk...

Another question is Hazard or Oscar?

    Thanks!

Haz/Oscar is literally so hard to decide. I got Oscar at 8.7 and will be keeping him for the season unless he gets injured. He's only going to get better.

    Rooney, Aguero, Suarez

    Juanuzaj, Rangel, Chester

Any suggestions? Was thinking of saving the transfer this week to downgrade rooney --> lukaku/remi/lambert/tekkers and upgrade a defender to Vertonghen or Baines or maybe upgrading cabaye to hazard/walcott? Or is there a good transfer you see I could make this week?

True. I think paired with Morrison though he's a good option. If you've 3 big hitters up front then you're going to be playing a cheap mid every week anyway. For that price it's always with a hope rather than expectation that they'll bring home good pts.

Yeah he is one of the few gems in that utd side atm. I never got him as I like to be able to rely on my cheapies to always start when needed but if I had him I wouldn't look to sell now. He's playing well and can be explosive so if you gambled may as well see how it plays out until Jan

What are people's thoughts about Zabaleta atm? Last week it was to trade him out but now? Pretty nice fixtures ahead.

Im planning to do Marshall, Zabaleta -> Mignolet, Terry, or should I do Coleman-> Terry instead? Although then I would have difficulties bringing Wally in for Ramsey later...

Or maybe just settle with Marshall->Mignolet this week? Not so easy Cs for Terry vs Soton

    Marshall (davis)
    Merte Zaba Coleman Baker (Gabbidon)
    Haz Ramsey Nasri (Barkley Lucas)

Thanks, happy with the balance, little part of me worried about Rooney but Lukaku might do the trick GW16. Aguero (c) Suarez (vc) for sure.

What about GW14 & 15? That's my worry as Lukaku owner... plus Rooney's fixtures then are good too.

Didn't you see the derby? United last season? I don't like the word fixture proof, but Everton aren't the kind of team to lay down to the big boys.

Same, you planning to get Rooney in? I can squeeze him in just but it fecks the rest of the balance up, doesn't it...

To be fair, Agent Lukaku's doing the business at the minute so lets hope it continues 🙂

No, not really. I'm planning on gritting my teeth and going without, maybe Lukaku GW16. Remy is scoring well with two more good fixtures, so not really a problem.

He's physically fit now, I'm hoping he'll regain match fitness. On the bench probably the next two GWs anyways. I agree though there are better options at the moment.

Wish I had the luxury but my defence blows.

Rooney is my concern too. I really want him but it leaves a pretty bare MF and defence.

I'll hold for now, mid-priced strikers are firing on as many cylinders as Rooney anyways. I need that extra money.

    Hazard or Oscar?
    Reasons?
Which of the two is more affected with rotation risk?

In my opinion Oscar is maybe better option.
    1. Because he mostly plays in "the hole" just behind the striker.
    2. I think that he is more important for Mourinho than Hazard
    3. His price is lower...

On the other hand Hazard is secondary penalty taker, corners taker, more explosive and great individual player.
    Its really hard to choose...

    What do you think?
    Thanks!

If I had neither I'd prob go for hazard due to pens when lampard not on picth. I don't think there's much in it tho. If oscar continues to play like he did against hammers he'll edge it tho.

    Boruc
    Terry, Coleman, Clyne*
    Ozil*, Oscar, Ramsey, Barkley
    Aguero, Suarez, Lukaku

    (Davis, Ravel, Burner, Williams)

    1FT, £0.1m in the bank

Shipping out Clyne is the priority here, right? Or Ozil -> Walcott/Hazard?

I'd agree, feels like the wrong timing to get in Walcott since he's lacking match fitness and we've got midweek PL games next week. Ozil is more likely to start all 3 in my book.

Hard to see any obvious replacements for Clyne that would really strengthen your team, consider the fact that they have Villa at home next GW which is close to the perfect CS fixture at the moment.

What about Vlaar? Got £4.6m and he seems like the ideal replacement - fixtures look lush until Jan WC as well.

I got Vlaar myself...but I wasn't really sure about picking him. See how they look tonight, could be a good option and he likes the baps. Tonight will also help judge how Southampton's fixture next GW look 🙂
