There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

Agree with Baps - Theo might be a better option and leaves you more money to strengthen the rest of that shaky midfield.

If you don't have Ozil you don't buy. He is on the way down in FPL estimations around these parts. Theo is the Ars mid to go for if you are willing to take a leap of faith.

Ozil's last game for me will probably be his home game against Everton. By then I'll see what difference, if any, a fit Walcott makes for him. Plus he's an easy differential with so many selling. Saves me a transfer.

Morning people. Two things possibly worth a mention...

    Pantilimon at 4.9? Any takers?

Also, what are the chances of Evans holding down a place when Vidic is back? I'm after some bargain basement stuff at the mo. Surely Ferdinand has played poorly enough to get binned?

No to the Panty man.Joe Hart could get back his job at the drop of a hat.

I think Evans and Vidic should be the preferred CB paring when everyone is fit. Rio is slow and past it and Smalling isn't better than either Evans or Vidic.

IMO for CB it's: Vidic, Evans, Smalling, Rio.

    Morning Chaps,

Frustrating evening last night as a Benteke owner... had him for too many blanks now, even this wknd at home to bottom of league Sunderland I am wanting to get rid....

    Mignolet,
    Terry, Mert, Coleman,
    Hazard, Nasri, Ramsay, Barkley,
    Aguero (C), Suarez, Benteke

Boruc, Clyne, Brady, Chester. - 2FT and 1.3m in bank.

    Thoughts?

    A) Just do Brady to Ravel and start Ravel over barkley - Keep Benteke for one more...
    B) Brady to Ravel AND Benteke to Lukaku (incredible fixtures from gw16 and good form)
    C) Brady to Ravel AND Benteke to Studge (just for hul, NOR, WHU then switch to Lukaku from GW16)
    D) Brady to Ravel AND get rid of Chester for someone?

    Thanks a lot guys.....

Currently have actually 12 players in my Team bcoz of a 4m GK and a Chester/Kim combo that I haven't been able to get rid since Week 1, but have somehow scraped through so far with an overall rank of 119k.. But with Christmas approaching I'm worried bcoz rotation will become an agenda for all teams

So, What should be my first priority

    A) Get rid of the deadwoods and bring in starting players around the 4m-5m mark
    or
    B) Chase points and do transfers involving bringing in big names like Sturridge , Walcott and Oscar
    or
    C) do both and take -8/-12 hits

When I originally got Wayne it was originally short term, but his performances to date and the fact that RVP is overpriced /injured plus no other Mufc coverage makes it very difficult to leave him out. However, I think over the Xmas period united have good fixtures but I reckon he'll get rotated. I think possibly then it would be good to swap with Giroud ?!

I can simplify my above question:

    A) Keep Benteke - 417 PL minutes without scoring but good fixtures
    B) Get Sturridge - just for hul, NOR, WHU then switch to Lukaku from GW16)
    C) Get Lukaku now (incredible fixtures from gw16 and good form)

When Benteke starts firing, he will be a better option than Lukaku?
    1) the better player
    2) less likely to be rotated (not on loan)
    3) still has great fixtures
    4) more expensive than Lukaku, but still affordable, especially compared to Rooney

    He can't blank forever!

      1) Debatable. Overall, nthis season suggests Benteke's the better option compared to Lukaku.
      2) Lukaku to be rotated with... Jelavic? Nahh. Both equally nailed on, and both on penalties, until January at least.
      3) Everton fixtures from GW16 equally enticing.
      4) Price a lot more favourable for Lukaku.
      5) Let me add a fifth. Benteke not feeling as fit (his words, not mine) ever since the hip flexor injury. And it shows on the pitch.

As it stands, Lukaku clearly the better option.

    Ok guys team is...

    Marshall - Harper
    Terry - Evans - Johnson - Rat - Burner
    Oscar - Ramsey - Nasri - Ravel - JWP
    Aguero - Rooney - Suarez

    2 free transfers
    0m bank

Ok the 2 players up for the chop are Rat and Nasri, but what to do?

    Rat to:
    A) Flannigan ( good team and fixtures - would block any Coutinho move)
    B) Gabbidon (Pullis factor makes Palace defence appealing and saves 0.5m

    Nasri to:
    A) Lampard (saves 0.5m and new position is a threat - double up on Chelsea mids
    B) Coutinho (looked good - nailed on - would have to get Gabbidon for cash)

1 transfer? 2 transfers? Different transfer?

I think I will buy a Chelsea midfielder just to C him that week or just go wth flow, Aguero(C) at home vs League leaders

Has to be Aguero - Hazard is the only viable alternative, but too risky for my liking.

So up to the Jan WC would people rather have a Norwich or Villa defender ( only as bargain basement 5th choice). And who would people recommend?
    Advice would be good.

Hadn't thought about that, but looking at the fixtures, you have a point. I'll have a look at palace defenders later today

Both have the best fixtures possible, so I'd look at the rest of your defence and see if you need them to play GW16. And if so, go for Norwich. Probably Murner.

after yesterdays Sess preformance i decided to ditch him for good

i have few gws plan as well

    2FTs this week

    Ivanovic and Sess OUT

    Gabbidon and Walcott in

then if everything will be fine save FT in next gw

then sell one of Clyne,Pieters to premium defender

hope injuries or suspensions wont ruin my thinking

    Vorm

    Pieters , Rat , Gabbidon

    Walcott , Hazard , Couthino , Ravel

    Aguero(C) , Rooney , Suarez

should be another green and my team will be set up for following gw as well

I didn't see the game last night but saw Sess came off early. What was he like?
Agree with your query on CPL defender. Great bench fodder with Pulis now in, price and fixtures.

I don't think so. He was awful going forward but made a nuisance of himself when Villa were attacking. Not great as far as FPL points are concerned but probably good enough to keep him in the team.

And I don't think he really has the squad for it. Bear in mind that I'm not a Sess owner so treat my thoughts as reasonably objective - owners like yourself (especially those who were robbed of a 100pt week) will look at the first half miss and be (justifiably) a bit annoyed with Sess. The second half miss will just compound that (although it was quite a good move) - and that's all you will remember, and probably cause you to look for any excuse to sell him. But overall he has a history of being a hit-and-miss FPL player who seems to rack up a decent season's score despite looking like an average player, so probably worth holding. You shouldn't expect too much from a 6.6 player.

        Bootsy Bitton!

Great campaign from you though. Battling from GW9 with 80+ scores. Not often you score 75 and go out.

I'm sure the same fate awaits me when the big boys join the party in the third round proper.
