There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

        A) Keep for one more v sunderland at home
        B) out for Sturridge and then lukaku GW 16
        C) straight to lukaku
        D) to Giroud for couple nice fixtures then lukaku gw 16

i consider Giroud a tap in striker, tap in strikers dont need form the team needs form

i have Benteke, Rooney, Suarez and i think im gonna do Rooney to Giroud(only for cardiff and HULL)as i cant afford Aguero
i think you should get Sturridge if you dont have Suarez

Problem is that I'm 05 short for Walcott and I don't trust Ramsey to continue scoring now Walcott and Cazorla are back.
I would keep Ozil, but I need to fund the Aguero transfer and I don't want to loose Hazard or Lampard as I think they will do good with their nice run of fixtures 🙂

So if no Coutinho or Ramsey, who would you get for < 8.6 ?

So as we move into the busy festive fixture period would people say building a team of nailed on players was the most important strategy right now?

I have VP, Januzaj, Chester, Davies in my team currently so looks like I'm at risk of some low scores if any of my top players are rested.

    How about you?

Surely I'm not the only one here who would rather the knee-jerk articles post-game rather than random Suspension Tightrope/Community round ups which have nothing to do with the days games?

At least you knew what happened with your players straight away in the knee-jerk articles.

Aren't your priorities the wrong way round here, Jack-O?

The knee-jerks tell you what you know if you were around for the games. Normally if I'm not around I like to read them to see how my player or other players went without just looking at their FPL points.

The Suspension Tightrope and Community Round Up could be done at any time in the week pretty much.

The FPL data tells you all that though.

Community round ups are more important to me because I like to catch up on what Christina has been saying.

"without just looking at their FPL points"

FPL Data doesn't tell you if someone went off injured/hit the post 3 times etc. etc.

As I said the Community Round up could be done at any time, It'd still be the same article. But once Christina become a regular figure in the article they may have to call it quits.

Never been so conflicted on a transfer for weeks. Would people rather double up on Liverpool attack or defence for the coming run?

Already have Suarez and Mig. Was all set to downgrage Toure and Dawson to get Rooney and Gerrard in for hits, but if I do Toure > GJ/Flanagan this week I can get Rooney for free the week after.

          Nice team Dem.
Nasri and the gks are your weak points.
Not sure what you do with Nasri as no one else appeals.

I personally would have Remy over Rooney (they score the same ppg) and use the cash to upgrade Nasri to Ozil.

Remy, I suspect will be another Demba Ba. Been very consistent so far and this augers well for the rest of the season.
Lamps - if he can cement a place week in week out, then he'd be a great option.
Coutinho - watched the Liv game on Sat and I thought he had a really quiet game.
Ozil - he has the pedigree to step up and plays for a team in the goals so I'm very hopeful about him.

Morning guys. From skysports analysis of the Chelsea game, average positions:

    http://e2.365dm.com/13/11/660x350/Hazard-Etoo_3040673.jpg

Hazard playing more advanced than Eto'o. 4-3-3 seems to benefit him big time, hope we continue as we looked really solid.

"Part of the reason for that was how advanced up the pitch Hazard played, even ahead of Eto'o in the average position map. He played 23 of his 24 first-half passes in the opposition half."

Yeah, I've thought about it. The problem with buying a midfielder at this point is... what about Wally? I think I'd just give him a match or two to regain fitness and form, else you might end up spending another transfer quickly to get him in.

But, see what happens in CL this midweek. If Oscar or Hazard (or both) is rested, they look like a good bet for the next week which is buuusy. Also a win will nail down the first spot in the group, so we can rest and rotate for the last game.

Wally / Haz / Oscar / Brady / Morrison kinda thing could work out quite well , and if any one under performs it's an easy switch to say Silva / Michu (dare I say) or whomever may emerge.

V keen on keeping Rooney, so considering:

Ozil to Lallana & Giroud to Aguero

Then I'll still have £1.4m in the bank for upgrading Zaba next week (all being well).

Still seems kind of crazy to chop Giroud, when he's the only decent striker at a team that are topping the league. Aguero is just on fire though...

Both giroud's goals this week were handed to him, I don't know why people's faith is suddenly restored in him because of a huge goalkeeping error and a silly penalty. Lallana seemed pretty fixture proof against Arsenal, and his fixtures aren't as bad as they seem. MCI(H) in their current away form should be easy.

Well Ozil isnt exactly known for creating opportunities for himself, is he? I think his amazing assist record has a lot to do with Real Madrid routing teams by 5-6 goals so many times, he was bound to get some payoff. But he just doesnt seem like a big enough threat to justify his price in FPL.

I didn't say this week. Got no playing GK

But if he blanks today then very likely he is out next week

Mostly to make things interesting 😉

B, don't like Yaya. I'd much rather have JEvans + Haz/Oscar/Wally for instance.
