There’s a trio of new arrivals on this week’s Tightrope, the most high profile being a certain United frontman. Wayne Rooney’s caution during Sunday’s draw at Cardiff, picked up for a seventh-minute “challenge” on Jordan Mutch, means he has now accumulated four yellows – if he receives another in any of his side’s next eight league matches between now and January 1, Rooney will serve an automatic one-match ban.

Earlier today, it was confirmed Rooney will not face any retrospective action after kicking out at the Cardiff player, as the incident was dealt with by the referee at the time. Similarly, Everton’s Kevin Mirallas looks set to escape further punishment for his challenge on Luis Suarez in the Merseyside derby – the Belgian, who was also booked for the indiscretion, has since admitted he was lucky not to be dismissed.

According to reports earlier this afternoon, Cardiff’s Gary Medel has escaped punishment for apparently raising his hands in the direction of United’s Marouane Fellaini in yesterday’s 2-2 draw.

Rooney was also joined on the Tightrope by Everton’s Ross Barkley and Southampton’s combative central midfielder Victor Wanyama, who were booked against Liverpool and Arsenal respectively. We now have 26 players sitting on four yellow cards, with only three clubs – Crystal Palace, Liverpool and Cardiff – not represented.

Liverpool do, however, sport the player with the most bookings to his name – Lucas has incurred the referee’s wrath no fewer than six times in the first 12 Gameweeks. Sunderland defender Wes Brown and Palace wide man Yannick Bolasie were both dismissed for dangerous play at the weekend and are currently poised to serve three-match bans.

The FA confirmed earlier today, however, that both clubs have contested the decisions – the Black Cats are particularly confident of winning the appeal in light of Brown’s challenge on Stoke’s Charlie Adam in a 2-0 loss at the Britannia. Fulham’s Sascha Riether will complete the last of a three-game suspension against West Ham; he will return for the Gameweek 14 home clash against London rivals Tottenham.

Gus Poyet welcomes Lee Cattermole and Andrea Dossena back into the Black Cats’ fold for the trip to Villa after the duo’s respective three-match suspensions came to an end last Saturday. Elsewhere, Mathieu Debuchy returns for Newcastle’s home game with West Brom, having served a one-match ban at home to Norwich for accumulating five yellow cards, whilst Mathieu Flamini is back for Arsenal’s trip to Cardiff, giving Arsene Wenger a double-pivot dilemma away to the Bluebirds.

        OR

keep Rooney, downgrade baines AND ozil and do Lukaku-Aguero, for a minus 8.. which do you think?

Well..Rooney is a better option than Lukaku, but I think the -8 is too much and I'm still not sure about Wally. Aguero and Suarez are essential right now though. Wait and see what Wally does in the CL and decide later.

Replace Clyne with Shaw andI also have any of those choices in order to raise enough for Rooney-Aguero. I could also do baines to Coleman. What do you think? If Wally is defo back next week then A seems like best move but he could be a bit rusty?

Yeah it's easier when you have Baines haha. Do Baines to Coleman or GJ if you can afford him (Liverpool have nice fixtures coming up) and then Rooney to Aguero.

Yeah option A seems like the best one, but like you said Wally could be a bit rusty or he probably won't even start. Thinking of doing Clyne to Gabbidon.

Clyne-Gabbidon doesn't look too bad if CPA can keep this defence up, Pulis is likely to continue the clean sheets. Southamptons fixtures are pretty bad.

which turner is that? if its cardiffs, maybe transfer out baker or clyne for a cheaper crystal palace defender and look at the most perfect rotation you will ever see between the 2 for the next 12 weeks.
      team looks good

Fund the move for the other two in-form strikers, I guess.

Also, facing tough opponent this week.

I also want to sell as Guroud or Lukaku has better prospect short-term.

better prospect short term? reallyy? rooney has tot followed by EVE, NEW, avl, WHM, hull, nor
apart from tottenham, you can hardly get better than that. with the only other tough fix being everton and its at old trafford.

It's my first time posting here and first time playing FPL this season, but things are picking up after a poor start. I'm not sure what to do for next week though, so any help would be appreciated!

    Boruc
    Terry - Dawson - Gabbidon
    Ozil - Oscar - Ramsey - Barkley
    Aguero (C) - Suarez (V) - Benteke

    (Davis - Whittingham - Chico - Rosenior)

    1FT, 0.9M

    A: Boruc > Mignolet
B: Chico or Dawson > Glen Johnson
C: Benteke > Remy, Lukaku or Sturridge

I like your team a lot. Well done if this is your first year playing.
I'd do B. GJ has some nice fixtures coming up, and Dawson doesn't.
Playing Boruc this week is not ideal, but Southampton will continue to be stingy at the back, even with tough fixtures.
Benteke has a nice fixture, though my patience is wearing thin with him.

Why im losing Rooney for Lukaku.

    1) Because Lulaku and Hazard beat Rooney and any 6m mid combination
    2) Rooney surplus to requirements from a captain perspective

Below are captain choices with Suarez Aguero and Lukaku and they are Brilliant all the way to xmas

    gw 13 Aguero H Swansea
    gw14 Suarez H Noerwich
    gw15 Suarez H w ham
    gw16 Lulaku H Fulham
    gw 17 Suarez H Cardiff
    gw 18 Lulaku H Sunderland

I've been thinking along this move too, Trigger.

My main concern is that Rooney is in hot form now and seems to have the potential to hit double figures every week with the easy fixtures coming up. Also if RVP continues to have injury concerns, Rooney's going to flourish as United's main man.

My other concern is the possibility of Lukaku being rested in those easy games over Xmas to give Jelavic/Kone some gametime. After all, Lukaku is only on loan, so managers always tend to have the attraction to trying out some of their squad players for the long-term. One bonus for Lukaku is that he may be on penos if Baines is out.

Next week Snod to Hazard and Ozil to Walcott

I'm not too sold on Hazard as most of his returns have been pretty lucky but I agree than he has more upside than any 6 mil MFer other than Brunt. Rooney will outscore Luka imo but thats based on what I have see of them so far this season.

Did Rooney to Aguero last night, for many of the same reasons. I could have sacrificed a big midfielder, or destroyed my defence, but that does not seem wise.
Balance counts for a lot. Who knows, an injury, a new essential player and many unbalanced teams won't be able to adapt without a pile of hits.

Sess 2pt + boruc 1pt off the bench sneaks me into top 10k at rank 9,988
Through to 3rd round of FA cup, 2nd round of FFS cup and semi finals of the BWSC with the Solomon Islands
If only my real life was going as well as my FPL team, although perhaps it would if I devoted some of the time spent on it to real life activities...

Made a few bad selection choices this week (Captained Benteke & benched Gabbidon & Whittingham)
I thought it would be interesting to see what my overall points would be if i captained the highest scorer in my team every week and benched the lowest scoring players.

(These are my GW scores minus hits)

    GW1 - 79 (97)

    GW 2 - 42 (49)

    GW 3 - 44 (64)

    GW 4 - 64 (78)

    GW 5 - 38 (49)

    GW 6 - 62 (70)

    GW 7 - 30 (36)

    GW 8 - 40 (47)

    GW 9 - 75 (75)

    GW 10 - 26 (35)

    GW 11 - 50 (57)

    GW 12 - 67 (88)
