There was a Hot Topic a few days ago about FPL improvements -- one thread was about VC getting 1.5 times the points instead of the 2x for captain, but another change that could be interesting would be to give 1.5 weight to differentials. Some sort of TSB% threshold could be set, perhaps relative to price as well, so that owner could get rewarded for the risky, unsung pick who is owned by less than x% of the FPL population.

Might be a nice way to break the templates up a bit, and also partly answers Mark's Michu Proposal from last year in which he bemoaned being first on a bandwagon only to watch others jump aboard.

Says the guy at 1.6m this year who stubborn refuses the big three midfielders...

      There are lots of people focused on transfer value and I'm sure loopholes/exploits would be found. That other game they had last year where players points they earned added to their price for future weeks ended up just a mess of people buying all Gabbidon or whatever the cheapest Norwich defender was. Then when they got a clean sheet or a goal they'd earn so much money people playing the game as intended with a squad of 11 players ended up nowhere.

  It's a great idea in theory, but I think it just overcomplicates the game too much. I prefer to just pick who I think will do best, and I'm sure other more casual players would be the same. The multiple captaincies in other games for example puts me off.

    went with Coutinho Isacki? Think that's a logical call for short term at least. Walcott is obviously on everyone's sights - but too many question marks not only this GW but following couple.

      Yep exactly too many question marks. I kept both Hazard and Coutinho. I really couldn't justify it - I've gone head over heart so at least will be able to say I did the rational thing at the time, no matter what happens.
      
      Pros of getting Walcott:
      Possible haul against Hull
      
      Cons of getting Walcott:
      Losing one of Hazard and Coutinho
      Hazard and Coutinho have good fixtures
      Walcott has crap fixtures
      Hazard and Coutinho are nailed on

A few thoughts on Granvilles bonus point hot topic:

1. I really like the idea of a threshold above which you automatically 1 / 2 / 3 BPs. What we have now is a illformed basterd of the old man of the match / man in the stands system, and these new fangled stats. Doing it this way would directly reward playera for good things whilst keeping the simple 1 2 3 point system.

2. The simplest tie break system qould be pass accuracy.

3. No one has said anything about this, but at the moment the entire system is poorly balanced with very few points going to mids. Id suggest a goal being worth 6 points for all positions and rewarding a few more attacking stats like penalty box touches or successful dribbles to allow strikers and wingers to build up their base scores a bit, which they currently struggle with.

  Think the mids are getting quite a lot of BPS actually if you look at the overall BPS rankings. Just that when teams keep a CS multiple defenders are raking them in, which sticks in people's minds a lot more.
  
  I can understand the idea of a threshold so that your contribution has to be significant, but I think that would just turn bonus into a copy of the points, because as the BPS system is right now, to get above say 10 BPS you really need to score or assist. You need a really exceptional defensive performance to get above 10 BPS I think.

      Exactly. They have high Bps scores but strikers lead tge actual bonus points because they get theirs in 8 pt bursts rather than as a steady stream

        Most of the strikers cost more too. The main aimfor the forward is to score goals. They also have the most chance to lose BPS for being outside, losing possession etc.
