An upturn in form by Palace’s former Villa man and a certain enigmatic Bulgarian over at Craven Cottage come under the spotlight this evening. Tottenham’s improvement in front of goal and United’s faltering home form are also picked apart in our latest review of the statistics from the weekend and beyond:

Trying to get Silva in next week, but 0.4 short of a straight swap for Sess. Other option is Ozil > Silva (which would also allow Sess > Walcott some time in the future).
Thoughts? Other suggestions to raise that 0.4 welcome as well. Cheers
Howard 4.0
Coleman Kosc Chester BTurner Ward
Hazard Ozil Ramsey Sess JWP
Suarez Lukaku Rooney
2.1 banked.Open Controls-
The only 'sensible' way I can see is to downgrade Koscielny. Any other way wouldn't be worth it.
Open Controls-
Cheers Sarj. Yea sounds sensible with the 2 games ahead, but would only want him back for the run after the next 2.
Ozil Sess > Silva Walcott over the next 2 a good shout? Walcott should be back in the starting line up by GW18 surely.Open Controls-
Why would you transfer out a player who's returned decent points, to bring in one player who's just got back from injury, and another who hasn't made it into the starting line up yet? Sessegnon to Silva is a good transfer as Sessegnon hasn't been delivering at all, when he's actually had plenty of opportunities to do so.
Open Controls-
completely agree with your points, very hesitant to make that move. Just feel I need some City attackers (though have survived recent weeks without).
Looks like Kosc downgrade is the only "sensible" way to fund Sess > Silva as you've pointed out. Bad planning on my part, if i kept Mig and did Kosc>Distin, would have the funds right away to do Sess > Silva next week!Open Controls-
That's why I like to shift players in and out of my team, without actually making a transfer, to see what way is the best option. I look at the fixtures and try to guess what players I'd want the week after and the week after that. That way I know the best way to get the players I want before I make a transfer.
Open Controls-
It never works out though. One week I'll say that I want so and so in, but then when it comes to it I don't get them in lol. I was adamant I was bringing in Distin for this weekend. Instead I've done Skrtel + Cabaye to B. Turner + Hazard.
Open Controls-
Yea i find it hard to stick to a definite plan as well. If transfer plan is too rigid and something else happens, I end up making bad transfers.
The plan for the fixtures ahead was to get additional EVE defence, Distin Jags or Howard and just got Howard in. I still feel that's the best option, given his save points. Any bonus points is icing on the cake.
Next priority is Silva in, and kosc would probably have to give way 🙂Open Controls
-
-
That's what I usually do dammit. Judgment clouded by the need to get rid of Mig and Howard's price rising. All's good, not necessarily a "problem" to have Howard and Kosc in defence.
Open Controls-
Look at it this way... Between now and the wildcard who will score the most points?
A) Koscielny + Sessegnon
Or
B) Silva + a £5m defender
I think B will. Also, it might be good to bring in a West Ham defender for Koscielny. They have a good fixture this weekend, two shit gameweeks, so you'll have to bench, and then amazing fixtures from gameweek 19 all the way to the end!Open Controls-
Agree, think B would score better as well. Yep was looking at WHU/NEW for 4.9 defenders, rotates pretty well with the rest of my defenders for the next few games.
So would be Kosc > Colo/Collins, and Sess > Silva for -4 next week.
Let's see how Sess does this week. Seems to be hitting a slight uptick in formOpen Controls

Looks like your only option is a Kos downgrade.
Open Controls-
Seems like it. Was afraid that'd be the answer, but have already done a FT this week to get Howard in.
If I shift Kosc next week and get Silva in for Sess, would be for a hit and I'd only want Kosc back for the games after that. Tough. Might just "risk" it with Ozil > Silva next week?Open Controls-
Don't get rid of Ozil. Not while he's delivering.
Can you do JWP to a 4.0 mid and Sess to Silva?Open Controls

Gerrard > Oscar would be the FFS pick considering 0 in the bank.
Alternatively, Paulinho has had a solid game against Sunderland and he was very impressive against United - might be worth a go. Or if you haven't been burned by Michu yet this season, now might be the time to try 😆Open Controls

Amalfitano is a big turd at the moment. Is it worth the risk of playing Mirallas or Walcott ahead of him this week even though they may be benched?
Open Controls-
-
I can. My midfield looks like this....
Schurrle/Redmond/Hernandez and of Amalfitano, Walcott or Mirallas.
I don't really want to be playing 2-3 bench risks.Open Controls-
Oh, you're looking to bring in Theo or Mirallas this week?
Schurrle might be out this weekend and I would bench Pablo.Open Controls

Which transfer is better for free?
A) Coutinho > Silva
B) Pozuelo > RedmondOpen Controls -
Schwarzer

Mikel Essien
Willian Mata De Bruyne

This is how I think we might line up tonight. Oscar should be on the bench. Schurrle, after that fantastic performance at the Brittania, could be in line to start against Palace. I am certain that Hazard wont feature in the starting Xi tonight. The only problem would be Luiz. Could it be a match too soon for him to start? Possibly. But I fancy him to start even if he is 75% imo. Terry needs a rest.Open Controls-
Do you think Schurrle and JT will start against Palace?
Open Controls-
John will, no doing about it.
Open Controls-

Open Controls

100%
Schurrle, if fit will start. Has earned a start. JT is still the best CB we have. Ideally, Jose would like to rest him ahead of this busy schedule of games. And tonight's game looks a good bet as any for him to rest based on Luiz's recovery.
Hence I think Jose would like to play Luiz not just to regain match fitness but also it would mean a rest for JTOpen Controls

@Snake Juice and Sarj, thanks for the rational advice up top. much appreciated.

Does anyone else feel their team is starting to get very ragged after a series of ill advised punts rather than fixing the core issues and are now just trying to limp through to Jan WC? Or is it just me?
Open Controls-
I'm with you on this one.
I've taken so many ill-advised punts this season: Lallana (when he stopped scoring), Snodgrass, Pablo, Paulinho, Siggy...and my brand new weapon: Jonjo 😆
Although tbf, every mid right now feels like a punt since nobody is really delivering consistently (aside from Ozil, Yaya, etc.).
Every week, a new "desirable" punt comes along and one becomes tempted to take a chance just for the heck of it.Open Controls -
Had that feeling 3 weeks ago after taking 52pts in hits chasing players my team was looking like a patchwork quilt. Took a step back and asked myself what I was doing. Have corrected the team now and feel it is solid going into the busy Xmas schedule and my rank has climbed from 780k to 200k in a couple of weeks and now 2ft's sitting in case of emergency. Hopefully the upward trend continues.

6.3% 17.2% 22.7%
24.9% 62.2% 17.7% 3.0%
41.5% 28.4% 33.8%
Doesn't mean much really. But I'd like to think that the "ideal team" in terms of ownership would be the ones that covers the players with maximum ownership and also have decent differentials that can push you up the rankings. Anyone else looking for the proper balance in terms of ownership of players?Open Controls-
I just love it when a teams on good form, they've got good fixtures. And the player who I want from their team, who's also on form has a really low ownership.
Open Controls-
-
I'm finding it hard to fit him in. I might have to lose Ramsey to bring him in lol.
Open Controls-
I don't think getting rid of Ramsey would be a very wise move now. Still think he has a lot to offer
Open Controls-
Yeah but the whole high ownership is putting me off. Yeah it's a big gamble. But I wouldn't ditch him until the January wildcard.

17.2% 7.6% 6.3%
24.9% 62.2% 9.7% 5.5%
42.5% 33.8% 28.4%
Bit more of a differential in midfield and defence.Open Controls-
At this point in time most active players would have 3 from SAR and Lukaku so its the midfield and defence which is gonna push you up the rankings I reckon
Open Controls-
Defence is where it's at I reckon. Most people move to a generic attack as certain players stand out. This usually means leaving the defence alone, but getting lucky like Chico's goal for me last week is gold dust. GJ and Terry on the other hand......
Open Controls-
😀
I plan to keep GJ for another couple of weeks. With Gerrard out, he could very well be pushed up to provide the attacking spark for Pool and to feed Suarez. Let's see how he does against Spurs.
As for Terry, I got him in when we played West Ham with the intention of getting rid after the Palace game. Hasn't done that bad for me. Getting rid for Evans next week
You are spot on about the defence though. Absolutely keyOpen Controls

Looks like quite a highly-owned team, when your differentials are in defence...you know you're going to have a bad time 🙂Open Controls-
No Aguero? 😯
Look at the discussion above, mate. Berbilly and I reckon its the defence that could spring you up the rankings. The correct set of defenders i.e
Most are gonna have a generic front 7 now, anywayOpen Controls-
Yea I've somehow stayed away from Aguero, not sure how that happened 😯 Rooney Suarez Lukaku for me.
That's slightly reassuring about defence. 2 EVE, 3 4.0s and Kosc are what I've got. Will see how that goes - still hoping for a miracle with Sess. Patience has to pay off surely right?Open Controls

After several weeks where my team was ok, this week fixtures trouble it. Can anyone give me any ideas of best moves here?
Mignolet 4.0
Terry Coleman Chico Walker Chester
Ozil Coutinho Ramsey Brunt Redmond
Suarez Aguero Lukaku
1FT 0.0 in bank
Is my priority:
A) Keeper change, given Mignolet's fixtures?
B) Chelsea attacking coverage? Only way I can get Hazard in is via Ozil or a hit. I can do Cout -> Lampard though.
Ozil is in form but has shocking fixtures. Coutinho and Mignolet are both lose-able.
Thoughts?Open Controls-
-
...and start generating some cash by going for cheaper defenders.
Open Controls-
That mob has served me quite well! Apart from Terry, who should do so much better.
But yeah, Chico is eminently downgradeable now.Open Controls-
True. I'm also considering selling Terry.
Coutinho I don't trust. Hopefully Michu runs into form and we can all get him, otherwise the extra cash from cheaper def should be used for a Cout upgrade to Haz/Silva me thinks.Open Controls

That one has definitely crossed my mind. Though I could keep him for CAR and then lose him. I can almost see a 0-0 in Spurs Liverpool!
Open Controls-
With all the Spurs injuries? Doubt it. I have Dawson, and no way am I playing him.
Open Controls
-
-
-
A) Stay with Mingolet for time being (Spurs not that prolific in front of goal and Liverpool have Cardiff at home following game week).
B) Wait for the Chelsea team line ups today in the Champions League,if Lampard starts I would not recomend you bring him in,as per Ozil to Hazard this is the move I would lean towards if Lampard starts tonight but beware I did this same move last game week as was burned!Open Controls

If and when Gerrard price will drop 0.1 I'm not able doing straight swap to Silva or Walcott for gw 17.
Is it worth to take hit to get Gerrard out for some premium mid?Open Controls-
Straight swap sounds the best plan i think.
Would go with Silva i guess, think he'll walk straight back in. A home game (arsenal i know) and then fulham looks pretty good fixture wise.
If you upgrade I think chico is worth getting rid of now more than amalfitano, Swansea have been pretty frustrating to own in the backline recently. Maybe look at a cheapie to help upgrade elsewhere next week if your squad needs it.Open Controls
