Having analysed those sides with Strong schedules over the next three Gameweeks, we turn our attentions to those who could be set for a festive headache. The league leaders and a raft of mid-table teams find a Christmas present to forget in the form of some unwelcome fixtures:

Swansea

Defeat to Everton began a prolonged period of daunting ties for Michael Laudrup’s side, from which they will be lucky to emerge clear of relegation danger. A Boxing Day visit to Stamford Bridge is followed by a relative breather at Aston Villa before they’re back into the fray with a home tie with Man City – it arguably gets worse after that, too.

Owners of Chico Flores and the bonus point-hogging Ashley Williams will not be confident of many more points, especially with first choice stopper Michel Vorm now sidelined after surgery. Jonjo Shelvey briefly looked like providing a genuine differential but a formation change, coupled with the fixtures, dampens that hope greatly, whilst the other budget midfielders in the Swans’ outfit haven’t really convinced even against weaker opposition. Ivorian striker Wilfried Bony got his first start after returning from injury but has his work cut out to finally find his feet in the Premier League.

Liverpool

A convincing, if expected, win over Cardiff City to go top of the league will keep the Reds full of the required confidence ahead of what is arguably their most daunting fixture of the season – a trip to the Etihad. That’s followed by a visit to Stamford Bridge before the waters calm with home game against Hull.

Luis Suarez clearly won’t be leaving any Fantasy teams but he may lose a few Captain’s armbands. Investment elsewhere in Brendan Rodgers’ flourishing team may be best postponed, though. Injuries to teammates have handed Jordan Henderson a central role behind Suarez and, whilst Raheem Sterling has also impressed with three goals in five, now does not look like the time to jump on board. A defence that has shipped goals to all but two of their last 14 isn’t winning any Fantasy fans and these fixtures may be the last straw for many still holding the likes of Glen Johnson and Simon Mignolet. John Flanagan’s budget price may see him keep his place in Fantasy teams, providing he shrugs off the hamstring problem that forced him off against Cardiff last time around.

Stoke
Stoke are now unbeaten in four games and are just three points behind Southampton, for all the latter’s plaudits. However, Mark Hughes has a job on his hands to keep that momentum in the face of a difficult run of fixtures that starts with trips to Newcastle and Tottenham, followed by the visit of Everton. Such fixtures mean that it’s a little late to invest in a defence that has kept three clean sheets in six games and admirers of Marc Wilson and Erik Pieters may wish to wait until the January Wildcard to invest.

BE WARY OF

Southampton
A toxic blend of injuries and relentlessly diffilcult fixtures have seen the Saints drop from their lofty early-season position down to ninth. Whilst the injuries could be starting to clear, the fixtures remain unkind, with a trip to Everton and a game against Chelsea in the next three. Anyone still holding any defensive assets may be weighing up the options, with Southampton having failed to register a clean sheet in the last eight games. Adam Lallana’s goal and assist were a timely reminder of his capabilities but now may not be the right time to bring him in.

West Brom
It’s hard to find anyone outside the West Brom boardroom who agrees with the decision to sack Steve Clarke but it’s clear that interim boss Keith Downing has a tough job on his hands after ”stopping the rot” with a draw against Hull. A trip to Tottenham and the visit of in-form Newcastle look fairly unpromising for any Fantasy managers hoping to benefit from a resurgence of form under a new manager. After seven games without a clean sheet, investors in Liam Ridgewell or Gareth McAuley will be looking to move them on, whilst the return of Ben Foster signals the end of Boaz Myhill’s appeal. Stephane Sessegnon has disappointed many Fantasy managers and an upturn in returns looks unlikely in the short-term.

Hull City
Investors in Steve Bruce’s gritty defence were hoping for another clean sheet last weekend only to be denied by a late goal from the Baggies. The pickings now look slim over the holidays for the Tigers, with games against Man United and Liverpool straddling a home game against Fulham. Owners of Allan McGregor, James Chester and Curtis Davies are likely to hold with the Fulham game in mind, but new investment doesn’t look worth a transfer with just that solitary promising fixture. Robbie Brady’s patchy game time and lack of fitness had already put him at risk and the recent news that he is likely to miss the festive games puts the final nail in the coffin of his Fantasy appeal.

Wally at the moment..half considering a punt on Hazard given that Mou will want to come out of the snoozefest with a solid 3 points but I don't expect it to be a highscoring affair. Lukakukuku entered my mind for a moment but I think it'll stay on Wally

Mine's currently Wally as well, and equally tempted by Kukaku. I don't expect Chelsea games to be high scoring from here on out, Mourinho wants to focus on defence and seems to be back to the days of 2-0 being the ideal Mourinho-score.

Just noticed we have almost identical teams 😯

I'm half considering either doubling up on City with Hazard > Yaya or just downgrading Hazard to fund bringing back SAR once with Kun is back healthy for that exact reason

I'm also thinking about doing Clyne > Ward if he doesn't come back and start again soon..this has been a LONG knock..were it not for the injuries to Stevie and Kun I would have been able to do it sooner

Will get Kun in on the WC. I had Clyne and shifted him for Ward when he got injured, thank goodness I did it early, given me more flex to focus on other transfers.

Probably saving mine for the week. Will definitely use one in GW19 for a City attacker - will decide once I see tomorrow's line up. Think there will be heavy rotation but any team can still smash Palace.

I'm pretty set on bringing in Rooney for GW19..thinking of either

                Ramsey + Negredo/Lukaku > Cabaye/Barkley + Rooney

                or even

                Hazard + Negredo/Lukaku > Cabaye/Barkley + Rooney

(the Everton choices go together since I have Coleman and Howard)

I would prefer A with Ramsey + Negredo > Barkley + Rooney, need some Everton attack imo.

the Evertonians have to go together, so if I bring in Barkley I have to drop Lukaku..already have Howard and Coleman

Howard is one of my potential drops in the WC if he doesn't start keeping CS..could always use the extra money to fund Kun/midfielders

Oh right missed that. Cabaye and Rooney then for now.

Yea i might get Foster in on the WC, decent value for a cheapie. Easier to fund Aguero that way. Sick of paying almost 6.0 for a keeper and having the same clean sheets as a

We definitely need Rooney to play. Welbeck has done a pretty good job with the goals, but he's not a prolific goal scorer. Loving how Rooney is playing, but his deep position is making me hesitant to give him the armband 🙁

Don't really believe it too, but City v Palace at home might be too tempting to pass up on!

Carrick is on the cusp of returning though, once he does Rooney won't feel the need to play so deep.

also who knows, United supporters might get a late Christmas present and we sign the non-cup-tied Gundogan from Dortmund in Janaury 😯

One can hope! Odd that Rooney kicked up a fuss about playing deep last season and is doing it again now. But he's very good and effective at that - maybe he's wisening up.

Nevermind, seems we need to have a Notary sign an affidavit (costs $40) and supply a US/Canadian social security number, to have a chance at the price.

Basically I have to commit fraud to collect my prize then.

A: myhill >> marshall (-4)...other keeper is mannone who plays eve...marshall rotates great with mannone till gw23 so only a 4 point hit for potentially 3 cleansheets

B: nasri >> silva (-4)...silva looking very good, nasri might get rested this gw? but silva on 4 yellows...chances of silva playing all the festive season games?

True,as much as I try to avoid bias, and believe that Suarez can breach the City back line, I can't convince myself to captain him (As a Liverpool fan), against a very strong City side.

I think Silva could be a cheeky differential.

I'm currently on Silva. Liverpool defence leaking goals all over the shop. They could end up like arsenal did against city, scoring but conceding more, and the gunners have way more clean sheets than Liverpool.

silva not consistent. haz and wally even bigger risks. suarez will always deliver an assist or a goal in every game.
