The Christmas Day message and, while it’s fitting for me to announce my own personal Fantasy Football “Annus horribilis”, this is a day for all Fantasy managers to put red and green arrows to one side, embrace the distractions of family and friends and return fresh on Boxing Day.

Having said that, typically, we’re not putting our slippered feet up just yet. Over the course of the day we’ll bring you the second part of Frisking the Fixtures from Roscola, while Paul and I will deliver the Boxing Day Scout Picks and “Differentials”.

So, Merry Christmas to you and your family from Fantasy Football Scout but be sure to sneak away to get yourself fully prepared for tomorrow when, through a Baileys and mincemeat haze, the Gameweek action will resume.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I really don't get the love on here for the 3rd and 4th spot mid/def combo. Seems like everyone goes for the expensive mid.+cheap def.

    Jags+Barkley 11,3m 140pts
    Mertes+Shelvey 11,8m 143pts
    Terry+Whitts 11,8m 144pts
(For ~1m more you could have Cabaye or Lallana)

    Yaya+Ward 13,9m 154pts
    Hazard+Burner 14,2m 145pts
    Ozil+Gabbi 14,5m 140pts

All the above players played in most of the games.
2-2,5m could be the difference between owning Aguero/Negredo, Rooney/Giroud

Although I understand the point you're making, you're missing a lot of the key issues here.

Also, those totals don't display the upturn in mid points and downturn in premium defender points from the past month or so

Roon or Suarez captain? Hull strong at home Lukaku out of form. Or Suarez with a tough fixture. I do expect him to score but everyone else will captain him so would love lukaku to bang a few in

If you avoid Suarez, Rooney is the sensible choice. Form over fixture. Lukaku could get a bit haul in any game, not just against weak sides - even the inconsistent Hazard is easier to predict in this way (strong against weak teams).

I'd still go Suarez. Forget the ownership, City aren't exactly solid at the back.

I would no longer captain Lukaku in any match. I just can't trust that he wouldn't blank. Currently ponder following options: Suarez, Hazard, Cabaye. The last one is a bit of a punt though, and with these deep midfielders there's little potential to really big numbers, so will probably go with either Suarez or Hazard.

Problem with Suarez is this: I don't like away captains, always try to find a one who plays at home, and least of all I like a captain playing away at Etihad. Then again, Suarez is still the obvious choice.

This is my planned wildcard team for gw20.

    Mannone Marshal
    Coleman Kolarov Evans Ward Chester
    Ozil Silva Walcott Cabaye Bannan
    Suarez Rooney Lukaku

Leaves 0.1 in the bank now so prices need to be kind to me. Can always go with a cheaper striker like Adebayor instead of Lukaku.

You're probably right. I'm probably gonna toss a coin between Negredo and Suarez as I can see both scoring.

I started the GW with the arm band on Walcott but that tired display from Arsenal's other midfielders made me re-think it. Then again, he's a great differential and Wet Spam are a cure all for whatever ails good teams....

If I had Negredo I would captain him over Suarez this week. I know his points tallies haven't been spectacular but I am always extremely impressed watching him play. Yes, no Aguero can be argued to make him less dangerous but also works the other way - he'll get more chances. From what I've seen he's an accomplished finisher who has just missed a few.
